American Government was heavily influenced by many things. But first, what is government? Government is the large organization that is in charge for making and enforcing rules and laws of the community it has authority over. A system that has the power to make and the authority to enforce laws within a civil, religious, corporate, academic, or any other group or organization. The term “to govern” means to supervise or administer whether it’s a set group of people, or over a state. Now a bigger question you might ask, what is the purpose of government? The magna carta helped shape the constitution and the development of the legal system. After the U.S. declared independence in 1776 the new United States’ founders met in Philadelphia to come up with a constitution based on the magna carta, with one area being the 39th magna carta clause; “No free man shall be taken, imprisoned, outlawed, banished, or in any way destroyed, except by the lawful judgment of his peers and by the law of the land.” The fifth amendment in the U.S constitution said “No person shall be deprived of life, liberty or property, without due process of law.” They both mean the same thing, making the biggest impacts on world …show more content…

With this in mind, government is created because of the people’s consent, and not divine right. This means that instead of monarchy, there is democracy. There is a set of checks and balances to protect the people's natural rights, while setting up a democracy. Common sense was written in 1776, which was the same year the Declaration of Independence was written. This pamphlet was the spark of the war because it showed the colonists that they deserved to be treated equally and not be put down by England. There were also parts of the pamphlet that were used in the Declaration of Independence.
The Declaration of Independence brought forth what is referred to today as the United States of America. The document is typical of American democracy rules system and one of the free contracts of freedom. The words expressed in the document gave support from colonists living abroad, and at home.
