At this point in Beanball, I feel that the most significant type of conflict is man vs. man because a baseball pitcher threw a fastball and knocked Luke unconscious. Man Vs. Man is also very significant in this novel because without the ball hitting Luke, there would have been no conflict. I think this makes sense for the story because what the story was mainly about was Luke’s recovery and all the people who cared about him. Another way that man vs. man came into effect in this story was when the coach of the other team was very harsh and rude to his team and competing teams. He would yell at them and make them feel bad about themselves. One sub-conflict of this main conflict was that Luke couldn’t play sports while he was recovering. This
was important to the plot because Luke’s life was all about sports and since he lost vision in one eye, he thought that there was really nothing to do anymore and he was very sad. Another sub-conflict was that Luke’s closest family and friends thought that he was going to die because the doctors were saying that his injuries were very severe. This is important to the plot because it made everyone care for him and feel very sad, this is also important because it shows that he had people in his life who really valued him and would be sad if he didn’t recover from his injuries. Finally, I think that these sub conflicts add to the plotline because they really show that to Luke sports were everything. He seemed like there was no point to live anymore if he couldn’t play sports, this might be because he grew up playing sports his whole life.
In the novel “Your Question for Author Here” by Kate DiCamillo and Jon Scieszka the type of conflict in this story is man vs man. The main conflict of this story is Joe Jones needs to get about a C- on his author project to not be grounded. He is having trouble getting the information because of his negative attitude.
The greatest conflict in the book was Man vs. Man for David, because he had to face his childhood of when his sister June had died due to down syndrome. This internal conflict led to the guilt he experienced when dealing with the secret of giving his daughter Phoebe away and lying to Norah(his wife) that Phoebe had died at birth. Norah and the family later realised Phoebe was alive but in that time frame before that the family was falling apart.
The Milagro Beanfield War, written by John Nichols, demonstrates several themes on life. They range from the interactions of the rich and the poor to the hot arid farming climate in New Mexico. All of which have significant importances in this famous novel. Perhaps the most important theme that is represented in this novel is the idea that people should do what is wright no matter the consequences. People are constantly faced with the choice of right and wrong. What they choose not only effects themselves, but everyone else involved. That is why being true to yourself is being true to everyone. "If I am not for myself, who will be for me? Yet if I am for myself only, what am I?"(p. 1). This theme carries the plot throughout the book.

Firstly let us consider conflict. In each act of the play, we see the overpowering desire to belong leading to a climax of conflict amongst the characters, which has the consequence of exclusion. Conflict is a successful literary technique, as it engages the audience and focuses our attention on the issue of conflict and exclusion, brought about by the characters’ desires to be accepted by their community.
