Intro: It is a very common thing for teens to feel angst as they approach adulthood. In many cases adulthood means facing many challenges that have never before been present. In the controversial novel The Catcher in the Rye, by J.D. Salinger, the main character Holden is faced with much angst in his struggle to grow up. Holden desperately wants to protect the innocence of children so he put off the loss of his own innocence as long as possible.
