The Los Angeles Dodgers have almost gotten into the playoffs and looked like real contenders for the past three years. Yesterday marked the day that they would be officially in the playoffs. They beat the Giants 8 – 0 with Kershaw getting the shutout and launching their campaign into the postseason.
The biggest question leading the Dodgers into the playoffs is their pitching. No doubt in my mind is that Kershaw and Grienke will both do very good and Kershaw’s usual bad form in the postseason will finally be over. I think this year will be the Dodgers best chance at making a run for the World Series. Having two of probably the best pitchers in the NL, they have one of the best chances at getting to the World Series. The few things that could derail the Dodgers ambitions would be the number three pitcher and the relief pitchers.
The number three starting pitcher will most likely fall under the responsibilities of Brett Anderson or Alex Wood.

Unfortunately Anderson has been on a horrible streak, only holding 20.1 innings and allowing 15 runs. This would not be acceptable in the postseason against the likes of the Mets or St. Louis. Alex Wood, on the other hand, has done slightly better, holding 28.1 innings and allowing 18 runs, but still pretty bad. Most people would agree with me that Kershaw and Grienke will most likely be the favorites against anyone in the league, even against pitchers like Jacob deGrom or John Lackey. Going into the postseason, the Dodgers offense is doing better than their opposition. In September, the Dodgers have been hitting .246, a decent average, but defiantly not good enough against a team like the Mets and with Howie Kendrick coming off the DL and Corey Seager playing very good, the Dodgers actually look like they can make a run for the World Series if there hitting could improve. This will only work if the Dodger’s relief pitching can withstand the offense of the Mets. Players like Juan Uribe and Yoenis Cespedes will be leading the way for the Mets and will look strong offensively. Both these players were added onto the Mets roster late into the regular season and have pushed the Mets into a playoff position. The Mets don’t that bad offensively, but defensively they are terrible finishing up the year. In the past month they have a .271 batting average, but their ERA for the team this past month has been awful with a .417. This makes them incredibly vulnerable and gives the Dodgers a huge lift. With the Dodgers hovering around a .250 batting average and players like Adrian Gonzalez and Corey Seager, they can seriously inflect some damage to the Mets. When it comes to both these teams facing off in a best of 5, the Dodgers; in my opinion, obviously have the advantage.
If they are able to finish with the better record they would end up playing in Southern California first and they are one of the few teams that have two starting pitchers that are NL Cy Young award candidates.
Clayton Kershaw and Zach Grienke are coming off insane seasons and will most likely start the postseason with some insane numbers as well. Grienke and Kershaw both are finishing off the regular season with numbers that could send them to the World Series.
The Dodgers and the Mets will be playing each other come the playoffs and the games that will be played will be especially interesting because of the shared similarities between these two sides. Both have a mix of good pitching, up and down offense, and have very similar records. These records will play a huge part in determining who gets home field advantage and I think that will play a huge role in the team that wins the best of

Based on the charts if a team is at the top end of the payroll chances are they will have a good season, after the top eight of the payroll it’s kind of scattered. So if they want to have a strong shoot at winning you have to be in the top eight of payrolls. A team that has defied the payroll and still have just six less wins then the highest payroll and the team is Arizona who has the 23rd highest payroll and was ranked 5th in wins. Baseball teams with higher payrolls do win more games, but only to a certain point, in the case of the 2007 season it’s the top eight.

Both areas are great places to live and raise a family and although there seems to be this great divide, everything is very accessible through highways and transportation.
Roger Clemens is arguably one of the greatest pitchers ever in Major League Baseball history. Clemens has built an astounding and exciting career filled with impressive statistics that may rarely be duplicated. His career extends from the early 1980’s into the new millennium, and continues today. During this stretch, nicknamed “The Rocket”, he won more Cy Young awards, seven, than any other pitcher in MLB history. The Cy Young award is given annually to the League’s best pitcher. In 2003 he won the 300th game of his career. He is only one of four MLB pitchers in all time to pass the 4,000 strikeout mark.
good like Andrew McCutchen then yes they will most likely make it but if not then they
“Smokey Joe” Wood was selected because of what he did in the 1912 season. It was easily his best of his career, and it’s also arguably one of the greatest seasons by any pitcher ever. He won an astonishing thirty-four games while only losing five. He had a 1.91 ERA (Earned Run Average) while striking out 258 batters. Since 1900 there has only been 21 times a pitcher has won over thirty games. Wood’s thirty-four win season is the sixth highest total; however, after this season he was never again able to reach this level of success in his career. He won 117 of th...
The Braves moved to Atlanta in 1966. The Braves didn’t have the best teams from 1966-1990, no World Series titles, just not up to where they had been in earlier years. In 1990 the braves had the worst record in baseball, and then in 1991, they went from worst to first, and went to the World Series. They went again in 1992, but unfortunately, they lost both times. However, in 1995 the Braves went to the Championship of baseball once again, they represented the National League, and the Cleveland Indians represented the American League. The Series went six games, and in game six the Braves won, beating the Indians, one to nothing, and winning the World Series.
The signing of Alex Rodriguez proved that Latin American athletes deserved to sign big money contracts just like the other players. Teams are taking are taking advantage of the abundance of talent in Latin America. All major League teams are active in the Dominican Republic. The Dodgers, the first team to move into the Latin American market, scout the area’s talent closely. About one hundred and four of the two hundred and thirty-seven minor-leaguers they had under contract at the start of the year were from that region.

October 15th, 1988, at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, California. Kirk Gibson of the Los Angeles Dodgers limps to the plate, walking on two severely injured legs, Gibson sets in as a pinch hitter in the bottom of the ninth inning in game one of the 1988 World Series. The home team Dodgers trailing 4-3 to the Oakland Athletics, with two outs and Gibson the final hope for the Dodgers. The pitcher for the Athletics, Dennis Eckersley throws Gibson a Slider, Gibson swings and hits the game wining two run home run. The legendary Hall of Fame announcer Vin Scully poetically states, "In a year of the improbable, the impossible has happened." The Dodgers win and the stadium, as well as most of Los Angeles, is raucous and wild with excitement. Some residents of Los Angeles did not celebrate with the city, they do not ever cheer for the Dodgers, nor will they ever go back to Dodger Stadium. To these residents Dodger Stadium will always be Chavez Ravine, and to them the improbable an impossible has already happen decades earlier.
"They've finally done it" says cubs fan, Alan Deutsch along with every other Cubs fan in the world. The Cubs achieved the unthinkable. They won the world series, breaking the longest championship drought in not only baseball history, but sports history. Very few fans can admit, truthfully, that they never wavered, lost faith, or doubted the Cubs over the years. It has been a long, slow road of continuous let down for Cubs fans until now. It has been 108 years since the Cubs last won the pennant which makes winning even that much more special.
There is nothing that baseball fans look forward to like the World Series. So how do home teams fare? Not as good as one may think. Home teams only won 52.8% approximately 53% of their games and losing 47.2% of it. Nineteen games were won at home compared to seventeen losses, not a huge difference. Despite this, like the ALCS, four out of the six times the team who held home field advantage throughout the series ended up winning the World Series. Something interesting that should be noted, in the years 2012 and 2013 wins and losses were the same, again 50% of the victory were for the home teams at home vice versa with the losses. In 2016, we saw that home field advantage turned out to be a disadvantage. Five of the wins came from the road team and only two games were won at home for the teams playing at
The winner of ALCS (win 4 out of 7 games) will go to the World Series. Tigers have been into World Series for 12 times and Red Sox, 11 times since 1901. As attending World Series is one of the most honorable for players, managers, and even fans, every decision in every play in every game in play-off would be much more important than in regular season.
