The Lord of the Flies is a novel, written by William Golding, is about a group of young British boys, who have become stranded on an island when their plane crashed onto it, they become savage and start to fight a lot, and two of the main characters, Ralph and Jack start to fight continuously over civilization and leadership of it, and they lead the entire group of boys into becoming more savage throughout the book and their time on the island. During the Lord of the Flies, the conflict between Ralph and Jack continuously grows and grows, and leads to a series of different events to happen on the island. Ralph and Jack both have a lot of different things about them, when it comes to characteristics, symbolism, and ways of handling things. In the first chapter of the book, Ralph and Piggy find the conch shell, and then they use it to call the big meeting of all the kids to get them all together, and discuss what their plan would be. On page 13, it states, “Ralph had stopped smiling and was pointing into the lagoon. Something creamy lay among the ferny weeds.” “A stone.” “No. A shell.” This was when Ralph and Piggy first found the shell, and Piggy was confused what it was at first, but then Ralph explained what it was. Piggy is different from Ralph in multiple different ways, for example, Ralph is the chief, the leader, he’s attractive opposed to Piggy who is chubby and not attractive, he is powerful on the island, and during the story, almost all the way to the end of the book, the littluns and biguns looked up to him, but then Jack, who is introduced later after the conch is blown, tried to take over the position of
