In the article, “Coping with New Realities,” Linda Buzzell provides a direct answer to this question. She provides a guideline towards living sustainability and means to mentally acclimate to upcoming environmental crisis. The article states these key points that I will summarize, to the best representation that I am able to, is to be calm, collected, patient, positive, and change. Category one, “resist what’s wrong.” Category two, “build what’s right.” Category three, “raise the level of your awareness and consciousness.” She indulges into the pros and cons of the categories, along with her recommendation on how much dedication you should invest into each category. For category one, “resist what’s wrong,” Buzzell recommends applying ourselves towards being a positive change and join communities that are like minded to rise against destructive ideas. For category two, “build what’s right,” she reminds readers that there are immediate activities we may do today, such as creating lifeboats, gardens, clothing, and a neighborhood exchange. Category three, “raise the level of your awareness and consciousness,” she recommends learning Earth’s biological systems, partake in a spiritual practice, or permaculture. I believe the outline is positively encouraging, although it is somewhat demanding if I were to immediately incorporate the changes.
