According to the life course perspective, social advantages and disadvantages accumulate over time to impact our health and wellbeing. Some policy implications may be increasing housing standards, or increasing efforts to ensure that the current requirements are followed. Emissions testing for vehicles and testing at factories that contribute to air pollution would also serve to decrease what individuals are exposed to throughout their life. Standards for work environments would also be considered part of policies under the life course perspective. Finally, making higher education more available through increased funding for federal aid and a decrease in fees would be beneficial, because according to the life course perspective, higher
education increases financial security and other aspects of health throughout life. Health and social advantage/disadvantage interact over the life course. We are born with health that is a consequence of our mother's social advantages or disadvantages, seen through birth weight. Our advantages and disadvantages continue to impact our lives in childhood, as those with greater financial resources are more likely to have a nutritious diet and have less exposure to environmental hazards, like housing that is not up to code or dangerous. Our life continues to be impacted by our SES when those with social advantages are able to participate in more recreational activities, such as expensive team sports at school or programs like what is offered at the YMCA. Social advantages and disadvantages continue to have a presence in our life as they influence our choices after high school graduation. Those with social disadvantages may find themselves working at a factory, being exposed to hazardous materials and a dangerous workplace. Their work may be physically exhausting, and the long work hours that they commit to don't always guarantee job security. This person may subsequently feel that they have little control over their life, which in many cases is true as they face employment insecurity. Advantages and disadvantages compile over our life course. For example, our SES might contribute to a lower level of education, leading us to have poor quality housing and lower level jobs. These add to stress, which as we have learned has its own negative health effects. In contrast, our SES can allow us to have an advantaged childhood, full of extra-curricular activities, social networking, and healthy diet. This could mean that we go off to college with greater social support and our network helps us gain employment in a stable, higher paying career. We feel more in control of our life and realize that we can contribute to our lives and health in a positive way.
The advancements that are rewarded with a higher degree of education will enable poverty-stricken families to a better way of living. Which will provide a higher income, medical insurance for health problems, better education, and better housing opportunities. This is another area that my studies will enhance my ability to work as a social worker.
...and ultimately the development of each and every student who needs to be taught how to be productive members of society who do not have to rely on outside influence, but can be independent adults when they graduate.
Graduating early is when you graduate before you are suppose to. It was never common because no one ever seemed to think about it or want to put in the work to do it. For a long time high school was defined as the best time of your life. Everyone who spoke to you always said when you left you would miss it. No one really wanted to graduate early for that reason. People wanted to cherish the time they had in high school because they knew they only got to go through it once. It was a big idea to live up to. Senior year has this belief attached to it. It means a lot to people because it is their last year of high school and it was upsetting to know that you’d be leaving the people you have spent the last four years with. People thought you had to have as much fun as possible in high school and do all kinds of crazy things before you turned 18: when you would be considered and punished as an adult. Now those times have changed. High school is not looked upon as the best times of your life anymore. It is looked upon in almost a negative way. High school has changed a lot and it is not very enjoyable now. There are lots of reasons why someone would want to graduate early. For instance, maybe the student was bullied, maybe the student decided they wanted to move on and go to college, maybe the student got sick of their home life and wanted to move forward, or like me, maybe the student has their future waiting for them and all they need is to graduate high school so they could begin it.
In the sense of utilitarianism this outcome would be in consideration of the greater good for the entire population. Also, by having more affordable education it would not only benefit the parents who continue to support their children, but would give those who are less fortunate an opportunity to learn and grow as an intellectual. Furthermore, it provides a higher percentage of the population a chance to obtain a higher form of education which would expand the spectrum of professions that are current. For instance, as of now only 65.9% of graduating high school students are enrolled into college the following school
As stated earlier, the cost of college is too high and it needs to be reduced to a more reasonable amount. It is expected that young adults in this day in age would want to go to college or another post-secondary education school to receive higher learning and to somewhat better their lives. While this is true ...
America’s future lies in the youth and building an educated youth that is interested in their career would benefit society. Rising college tuition is hurting the higher education of America. As more financial pressure is placed on these kids, the more they aren’t able to focus on their goals and dreams. Although inflation is a problem, the students who are able to graduate will benefit society if they worry more about their job. They should be able to satisfy their duty in society and a rise in college tuition will hinder that vision substantially.
In the film, Where to Invade Next, Michael Moore brings up many issues but the one that stuck out the most was the idea of free college and how it worked in other countries. From the film, an individual could come up with a reasonable conclusion, that free college brings more benefit than harm. What is usually meant by free college is in fact the idea of free tuition. Instead of having students be in debt for most of their lives, they can focus on studying and not have to work at multiple jobs. Even after completing college, most students find themselves accepting jobs that do not involve the degree they had received. If the majority of the population received free college, more people would take advantage and therefore,

All of us want to live. Some wish to launch business, have a stellar career, a happy life, or to live out a purpose. Whatever it is, there is always a way to achieve it.
If more students can graduate with a degree, not only are they improving themselves but their community around them such as with the economy. Works Cited Carlson, Scott. “A President, Fighting For Every Nickel. (Cover Story).” Chronicle of Higher Education 56.30 2010: A1-A19.
“The Event: The Life of Christ,” in the book Survey of the New Testament, by the author Irving L. Jensen, shows us how Christ is pictured in the Gospels. Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John are the four Gospels in the New Testament to critique the earthly life of Christ. In detail, the foundations of Christianity give facts in Christian doctrine, Christian conversion, Christian living, also Christian services. However, through the historical facts of Christ’s birth, death, resurrection facts for life applications and perspectives are taught through the sovereign plans accomplished by God (Jensen 96-97).
In fact, furthering one’s education has a positive influence on society as our country saves money by spending less and increasing tax income. Furthermore, people who have at least a two-year degree tend to make higher wages and have a better job in our struggling economy. For example,
In today’s working world most people will think that a college degree is necessary for success. They are constructed and conditioned that one needs higher education to succeed in life. But a degree is not an essential key factor to attain an achievement. It is not always a requirement to acquire a satisfying work because as long as you are happy and comfortable in what you are doing, then it means you are successful. Moreover, certain people achieved their goal without having to go to college because they are motivated to be fortunate. One of the main reasons why people have to deal with school is not because they want to but they have to. Most high school students are forced by their parents and guidance counselors to go to college because they think that it is the right thing to do.
Life skills help people to encounter their life situation at home, school, work, and any other context in which they find themselves (Manglallan and Raskauskas, 2003; UNESCO, 2010).According to UNESCO (2008) a Life Skills Based Education (LSBE) is distinguished from other education strategies in that it is designed to enhance efforts to positively develop or change behaviours through a balance of knowledge, attitudes and skills.
Growing up, everyone looks forward to starting their lives and moving out of their parents or guardians household. Most high school students do not realize the different types of responsibilities that are required for everyday living. Teachers and instructors always claim they are preparing students for the future, when in fact students should be more prepared for life's experiences than they currently are. Most teenagers have no idea how to start this process and are waiting for their parents to do it for them or even wait until the last minute to learn necessary life skills. In school students learn about particular subjects that are then usually used help students in training for a job or assist students in college. Yes, these are important and essential but what about after schooling or training? What happens then? Students are not being prepared for all of life’s necessities that impact our daily lives. Students have no idea what to expect after high school. It would be more comforting to have an idea of what has yet to come. Having a life skills class as seniors or even juniors in high school would help students tremendously. This class would prepare students for various life situations and tasks that students would otherwise have no experience or idea how to handle. This will assist students in not making preventable mistakes that could otherwise impact their life negatively. Having a life skills class could limit high school students the frustration of just being thrown into the world with no prior experience as well as save them from making mistakes that could impact their lives negatively.
