Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)

Nurses are always in demand and there are different types of nurses. A licensed practical nurse is also one who cares for sick, injured, convalescent, or disabled people. LPN work under the direction of registered nurses or under physicians and provide more basic nursing care directly to a patient. LPN are responsible for the care and comfort of the patient. LPN make important contributions to people’s lives by performing crucial healthcare related duties. In some part of United States like in California and Texas licensed practical nurses are referred to as a licensed vocational nurse (LVN) but both performs the same duties.

LPN are trained in similar practices and they can provide support for the physician, physician assistant and other health care professionals. In most patient care settings, LPN perform duties that include patient assessment and evaluation that is needed by registered nurses and physicians to provide diagnosis and to design a plan of care. Depending on the patient setting and scope of practice, LPN are responsible for basic patient care.
Some of the daily tasks of LPN include - checking vital Signs, monitoring patients, assisting with feeding, assisting with patients personal hygiene, preparing patients for surgery, collecting samples for laboratory tests, cleaning rooms & equipment, preparing injections, gathering family history, escorting patient to their room, recording other patient information and much more . Within the field of nursing; Licensed Practical Nurses are always high in demand because of people’s population growth. According to the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics; Practical nurses will have possible job growth of 25% by 2022, which is must faster than the rate of growth for other positions within the country.
