Liam Neeson, a well-known northern Irish film actor, had a tremendous influence in the film industry by showing the world there are no limits on ethnic background, age, or appearance, when striving to become a Hollywood star. The name of the game is dealing rejection, and being able to shrug it off. Liam Neeson was always finding himself being told he was too Irish, or he was too tall, or his nose had an element that made it not quite right. Neeson was always finding himself struggling to find a career he loved. Prior to becoming involved in the acting industry, Liam Neeson held numerous jobs including driving forklifts for the Irish dry stout beer company known as Guinness, a truck driver, and an assistant architect. Liam also worked as an armature boxer for a short period of time, but ended up quitting dude to his lack of skills. When interviewed about his short armature boxing career he stated, “I was an OK boxer, I wasn't great, I was OK, but I loved the discipline of getting together every Monday, Wednesday and Friday, usually Saturday afternoons too, with a whole bunch of mates and training, very, very hard for about two-and-half hours.” After finding no passion for the jobs he had held, Liam Neeson decided to follow in his father’s footsteps and become a teacher. His father had quite an influence on this decision and this career was something that he felt comfortable with. This seemed to be a family tradition, given the fact that his sisters were both teachers at the time. Liam then took a step forward to pursue this career by enrolling himself at St Mary's Teaching College, located in Newcastle Ireland. After only completing two years of schooling, Liam Neeson found it incredible difficult to master teaching children and made the decision that this path was not right for him. In today’s society, pre-existing assumptions and stereotypes of other ethnicities and individuals play a large part in the way we see others. This social construct of stereotypes has placed restrictions on many people’s lives which ultimately limits them from achieving certain goals. In this sense, stereotypes misrepresent and restrict people of colour to gain casting within the Hollywood film industry. The issue of how casting actors to certain roles and how these actors are forced to submit and represent these false stereotypes is one worthy of discussion. White Chicks (2004), directed by Keenan Wayans, illustrates this issue through the performance of Latrell, performed by Terry Crews, and his performance of the hyper-sexualised “buck” will be a prime example in this essay to discuss the racial politics and stereotypes in Hollywood casting.

This it true when talking about the best actor, however, there may be a way to determine the best actor on a variety of criteria. The casting directors picked them perfectly and knew what talent they would bring. Casting directors are crucial people when making a movie come to life and deserve more credit for their strenuous and imperative task.
