Generally, when someone is said to be the “best” at something, it is an arbitrary title given to someone by another person based purely of of their own narrow viewpoint. This it true when talking about the best actor, however, there may be a way to determine the best actor on a variety of criteria. Though some may think otherwise, Danny DeVito is a phenomenal actor, who may be considered one of the best in the industry, from his range as an actor, to the sheer number of awards he has won or been nominated for, or even his projects outside of film, he seems to have it all compared to all other actors. Danny DeVito’s acting range is undoubtedly impressive, as can be seen from his wide range of films he has been in from Batman Returns where he is a grotesque -- almost a horror-like -- villain to his role in The Lorax where he is a tree loving creature that wants to protect the environment (Danny Devito). The differences in these roles exhibit what amazing range DeVito Brings to the table when acting, showing he can be a grotesque monster who dwells within the sewers and eats raw fish (Batman Returns) or a loveable, nature advocating, orange rolemodel for children who speaks for the trees (Lorax). This variety of roles he has been able to portray is astounding, acting in more than 50 movies, he is also clearly able to pull off these roles well, executing almost every role to its fullest potential, as a great actor does. His acting range on television is just as impressive, such as his role on It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia with a more comedic tone, at one point becoming a wrestler named The Trash Man, compared to appearing on Sesame Street being an effective teacher for children and entertaining them (Danny DeVito). From his more raunchy acting pursuits on television, he is able to pull off the timing and punchlines of the show perfectly week after week. As for his appearance on Sesame Street, his softer, more gentle side is able to be brought forth for children, making him a perfect candidate for that aswell. His nearly twenty series he has been in speaks to how valued an actor he really is, as many people tune in every week in order to view his acting prowess. When describing DeVito’s early years, he is described as “DeVito’s performances play to this softening, employing his ability ability to slide between naturalism and cartoonish excess,” (Danny DeVito). Al Pacino better known, as Sonny has not only changed the way that I view actors. He has taught me what a true actor is. He is a brilliant man who has mastered Stanislavsky 's method. Pacino also has a sense of humor and there is never a dull moment on the set…"I was in a play once in Boston. It's a long play, about three hours and I'm on the stage a lot during it. And I caught... I got this feeling from the audience. These eyes were sort of looking at me. And I got a sense that there was a kind of rapport and I was relating and it was working, somehow it was giving me something back and. Well, I went through the entire play sort of gearing the performance in the part of the audience that I felt those eyes. So I had to see at curtain call who that was. Right? It came curtain call, I looked over in the direction of those eyes - it was Seeing Eye dogs. (The Today Show, NBC)
Each of the performances listed had at least one thing in them that I enjoyed but my favorite was definitely Mel Gibson’s. The emotions written in Hamlet’s speech were very powerful and needed to have an actor that would do them justice. Mel Gibson did just that. He portrayed all of the emotions in each part of the speech, not just some. Derek Jacobi was entertaining as well but lacked the sincerity of it all that Mel had. David Tennant lacked emotion throughout most of his performance and failed to convince me that he knew what Hamlet was feeling at the time of his speech.

Every now and again, there is an actor who once you see him/her on TV or in a film, his/her on-screen presence tends to linger even though you may only witness his/her prowess sporadically due to your frenetic schedule. Or perhaps this actor is such an immaculate performer that when you see his/her again, you don't even realize it, for he/hse so completely immerses himself/herself within the role at hand. Character actors are not just a thing of yesteryear. Indeed, they are alive and well even today, and I had the supreme honor to recently interview one of the paramount character actors of our time (at least in my opinion). In my limited experience, Adrian Hough is best known for his portrayal of the reverend in season one of When Calls the
Firstly, one of the qualities that can truly contribute in the making of a great film is a strong cast. It would seem the case that in order for a film to be prominent, a fine story should be the main priority. However, with strong actors and actresses in a film, they are capable of transforming even a tedious storyline in an attention grabbing story. This can be said by being done with the actors being at tune with the characters they portray. When this is done, characters themselves would seem to stand out in a film. Hence, it can be said that distinctive characters would have the tendency to make a story interesting, and they would usually appeal to an audience by being unique. For instance, in the classical 1947 movie, “A Street Car Named Desire”, strong emotional scenes were seen in the majority of the movie. However, a cast of fine actors was responsible for bringing the characters to life. As a result, this movie achieved four Oscars in the actors’ category alone. In addition, in this movie, actor Marlon Brando so skillfully portrayed his character with his flawless performance, that he left an indelible mark on audiences. Hence, this goes to show that a strong cast is one factor in making a movie grand.

This has led to uproar among viewers because they feel as if he has earned this recognition.
