Prologue
AKA a letter from Alenia 23 years ago, the planet earth was hit by a meteor, as many scientists had predicted. Although, when it was hit, the unexpected took place. The entire world split into four new planets, each one with one of the elements that us humans had taken for granted, like the idiots that we were. When the planet was split into four, there were only around one hundred survivors, and one of the wounded was my then-teenage mother. Her name was originally Delilah Troppe, and she decided to keep it when she married my father, Alente Jax. So, then I came along, little Alenia Jax-Troppe. To the galaxy, I am nothing but a blood type B, slightly overweight teenager with short, choppy brown hair and gray eyes that look like someone

this one contained the usual supply: a tee shirt of a new color, loose-fitting jeans, a few boxes of food, plenty of water for a day but hardly enough for a week, a new lighter filled with fluid to heat her house, and this time a tube of waxy chapstick. After seeing the boring contents of the first box, she opened the next box with more enthusiasm, hoping that it would be something new. She was not disappointed. Inside this wooden box was a dress catalogue, a makeup catalogue, around 900 of what her mother had told her were American dollar bills, and a note. The note said, in a fancy and unfamiliar handwriting,
“Dear Miss Jax-Troppe,
The leaders of this galaxy have decided to have a ball in celebration of the next successful year of surviving as a human race on more than one planet. Every known living person is required to attend, and if you do not, you will be sent to the Pyre, or fire planet, to be executed. Inside this box is a dress catalogue and enough money to buy any dress that you would like to wear to the occasion. There is also a high-end makeup catalogue filled with necessities and other grooming things. You are expected to be dressed and groomed to your very best, as this will be the most formal event in two decades. Your order forms must be sent to the manufacturers of the catalogues in three day’s time, and if you do not, you will be executed. Good
Erik made a robbery, he stole a “rolex watch” that was 900$, but they got it back, and “pearls, antique, 500$, but they did not get it back.. On December, 3, Mrs Fisher had a meeting about what Erik and Arthur had did together. The robbery. Mrs Fisher shared what she has saw at the meeting. Mrs Fisher open the book and started talking, “On November 22, I made a shocking discovery. While out at our storage bin, searching for boxes of winter, I found a gym bag that did not belong there. When I opened this gym bag, I found a U.S Army gas mask, a pair of rubber gloves , and a plastic supermarket bag fillied with diamond earings, watches, gold rings, and many other types of precious
Thomas Campbell witnessed division among the church. Archibald Bruce professor from University of Glasgow influenced his desire to be a preacher for Whitburn Seminary of Anti-Burgher Seceder Presbyterian Church. While pastoring in Ireland at Ahorey Church, Campbell was driven by a deep desire to unite the Burghers and Anti-Burghers. Knowing this the Seceder of the Presbyterian Church sent Campbell to unite the Presbyterian churches in New England colonies. In 1807, Campbell agrees to immigrate to America motivated by better health and greater opportunities for his family. Assigned to Chartiers Presbyterian in May of 1807, after a few months preaching from his heart, the Synod called him before them
Martin Luther King Jr. was placed in jail after participating in the Birmingham campaign. At this time King was president of the Southern Christian Leadership Conference and his presence was requested by an Alabama group that wanted him to participate in a "nonviolent direct-action program" in Birmingham. King along with other member of his group agreed to go and participate. These nonviolent protests resulted in the participents being thrown into jail. While in jail, eight clergymen wrote in the paper staying blacks should not support for Martin Luther King Jr. and the other protestors. King replied to the clergymen a few days later with a letter and aimed towards the "white moderate" as well. The "white moderate" is the white population and King wanted them to hear his opinion on the matter. In this letter king is explaining the actions of himself as well as his fellow protestors in the movement. King uses logic, ethics, and emotion to persuade his audience why civil rights should be given to African Americans. The use of these three elements throughout his whole letter along with imagery king is able to create a visual and persuasive piece that shows his point of view.
It is clear that the narrator did not have many possessions but what she had she greatly valued. It states that each girl had a Barbie and they did not have many other outfits except for the one it had come with and the one they had make from a sock. “This and a dress made from an old sock when we cut holes here and here and here, the cuff rolled over for the glamorous, fancy-free, off-the-shoulder look.” (576) This shows the narrator’s happiness with what she had. Instead of complaining about not having more outfits for the Barbies, she made do with an old sock.

When the lift doors opened at the sixth floor, a wave of dim light and buzzing voices greeted me. It was as if I'd taken the lift to a dark movie from the 70s. Facing me was the entrance to a supermarket selling all types of candy, weird foods, and random home items. Wondering what about the market attracted so many eyeballs and footfalls, I began walking around the floor, and then from floor to floor, observing the many stylistic and curious shops.
The document we are writing about today is a letter from Abigale Adams to her son while he was traveling with his father, her husband, John Adams. I noticed a few things like, throughout the letter she uses many tones. In the first paragraph of the letter she sounds extremely worried and or concerned about his well-being throughout the duration of the trip especially during the sail across the sea.
After returning to her grandmothers house for the night, she finds a bundle of letter addressed to her held together with a piece of old yarn. As she opens the first one she reads that the letters tell the real story o...
Fourteen years later, twenty-three-year-old Jane was selling furniture at the Sitka market. Jane was on her way to go take out money from the local bank, on arrival she gave her name and soon discovered her parents had kept a safe deposit box. She was granted permission to look at its content. When she opened it papers tumbled out and landed on her feet. One stood out from the rest. It was the original deed to her parents
In its place was a red box. With my name on it. By the time I reached the doorway, my whole body was covered in mud from tripping over tree stumps and slipping on slick grass. When I looked down at my dress, ...
Jessie and Megan each brought one suitcase, packed with necessities. The girls brought clothes, swimming costumes, and a toiletry bag. The rest of their things had been left in their room. Jay J brought less than his sisters, in his suitcase. His room had to be packed up, and moved to the basement in preparation for the building work. He was quite upset he could not bring Ginger to the Tumbleweed; however, chickens were not allowed. For the time being, h...
When Carrie got on the train from Columbia City to Chicago she had only few cheap items in her trunk and her sister’s address on
The excitement is building up inside of me, just like Eudora Welty feels when she reads, as described in a passage from One Writer’s Beginnings. I know exactly what I am looking for; two purses for my mother and sister. Nothing to big, or to small. One is going to be black, one brown. Try as I might to keep my mind on the task at hand, it is difficult to concentrate on just purses when there are fascinating items all around me! Leather jackets, jewelry, bolt upon bolt of the most gorgeous fabrics I have ever seen, and so much more. I can’t help but walk over to the people when they call to me; I am drawn by their eagerness and obvious love for their product. They have to be really great scarves if the man holding them thinks so much of them,...
3. In the attic she found a trunk full of old dresses dried corsages and brittle letters.
I slowly opened the front door -- the same old creak echoed its way throughout the old house, announcing my arrival just seconds before I called out, "Grandma!" She appeared around the corner with the normal spring in her steps. Her small but round 5'1" frame scurried up to greet me with a big hug and an exclamation of, "Oh, how good to see you." It was her eighty-fifth birthday today, an amazing feat to me, just part of everyday life to her. The familiar mix of Estee Lauder and old lotion wafted in my direction as she pulled away to "admire how much I've grown." I stopped growing eight years ago, but really, it wasn't worth pointing this fact out. The house, too, smelled the same as it's ever smelled, I imagine, even when my father and his brothers grew up here more than forty years ago -- musty smoke and apple pie blended with the aroma of chocolate chip cookies. The former was my grandfather's contribution, whose habit took him away from us nearly five years ago; the latter, of course, comes from the delectable delights from my grandmother's kitchen. Everything was just as it should be.
