Leonardo Da Vinci was one of the greatest critical thinking minds of his time. One could define Mr. De Vinci as a disciplined person that used his assess to valid his work and artistic views to the public. As definition for a critical thinker is someone who thinking that is clear, rational, open-minded, and informed by evidence. This is evident from his early development as a young artist were his ground breaking research on the human anatomy. His revolutionary interest in flight would later inspire a generation to be the first to go airborne and fuel his desires for art which would later became so of the greatest master pieces in the world. De Vinci to a mother of lower class named Catherina and father of a wealthy and respected man named Antonio Del Pierro Vacche. He was born in Florentine located which is in the province of Tuscany, Italy where he had his share of trials as growing up as a child born out of wedlock mother. Because of the fact that his father never married his mother, De Vinci was not consider an heir to his father noble man character. The actions of his parents seem as if it would hunt him or scar him for the thoughts of the noble people in Florentine. Although there is not much about his romance relationships, there is evidence of an arrest that happen in 1476 with a few other men. He was accused of sodomy but he was later but acquitted do to the accuser not coming forward at the trail hearing. A polymath is someone that has mastered several different subject areas. His interest included invention, painting, sculpting, architecture, science, music, mathematics, engineering, and literature; just to name a few. The term “renaissance man” describes an individual who excels in numerous areas and can do many things extremely well. Today, this description lends itself to both men and women who are both scholars and athletes, creative and industrious, and generally highly successful in all they do. While many modern “renaissance individuals” go quietly about their lives being exceptional yet unnoticed, the first renaissance man, Leonardo Da Vinci, made quite a stir and caught the attention and imagination of the fifteenth century world. In his own time, Da Vinci was a renowned artist, scientist and inventor who was celebrated by thinkers, artists and kings alike. And although he lived and worked more than six-hundred years ago, Da Vinci’s artistic and scientific genius continue to inspire and amaze.

For Leonardo, understanding the world meant experimenting and observing in a cause-and-effect manner. He believed that nature followed a set of laws and they could be uncovered by intensive studies. This eagerness to understand the natural world through examination set him aside from his contemporaries. In 1482, at the age of thirty, Leonardo moved to Milan and gained favor of the duke of Milan, Ludovico Sforza due to his singing voice and talent on the flute (Kalz 23).
