My initial thought and/or feeling when I settled my eyes on this piece, Annunciation, by Leonardo da Vinci was that of admiration of the details in the art work -- each object from the garment folds, to the landscape, or person in the art work could be an art masterpiece by itself. The water course, clouds, mountains, and distant trees, attest to the artist’s love of nature. The presence of an angel with what would most likely be the Virgin Mary also attest to the artist love of religion – Roman catholic. This also might be an indication of the period during which the painting was made. A period during which religion was a major factor in people’s life. The spatial construction is purely remarkable and astonishing even to the untrained mind and eyes.

The work focuses on the human form, and human culture. It is also evidence to a human attitude during that period that praised human abilities to be successful in their endeavors whether in art, science or politics (Mindedge, Inc. 2017). A stylistic characteristic of that period was the development of spatial construction or the use of mathematical or linear perspectives in painting. This is evident in the foreground features of the work, and the notable symmetry. (MindEdge, Inc., 2017).
This masterpiece will serve multiple purposes for today’s audience. For the art amateur, it is an almost irreplicable beauty that is mesmerizing to the untrained eyes. To contemporary artists, it is a coursework by itself. It features and characteristics can be used as a training resource in art workshops. It is also an important piece of history. It embodies the themes of its era, and will remain a part of western civilization and human heritage in
