Should Marijuana be legalized?
I. Introduction
Consumption of the Cannabis sativa plant can date back to 4000 BCE. The Cannabis plant has been used for its fiber, also known as hemp, to make fabrics or papers for millions of years. Another common use for Cannabis sativa, is for the plant's buds or flowers, known as marijuana, to gain the effects or “high” when consumed. To consume marijuana it must be inhaled through smoke from, usually either pipes or cigarettes called joints. One may also intake marijuana through edible form. The “high” one receives from marijuana use is due to a reaction in the brain by Delta-Nine-Tetrahydrocannabinol or commonly referred to as THC.
