Outside it was dark and full of lights. The brightness of buildings made the city stand out more at night. This place is extremly known for their casinos and hotels which then provide the illuminating lights throughout the city . During a life spirited Sunday night in Las Vegas, the lives of thousands of people were struck and changed. Jose was getting ready for his day. He left his hotel to go take a walk outside. His observations were not on the glowy lights or the amazing buildings they had out there. He had his mind focused on all these girls walking by him. He tends to be a very lonesome person since he lacks of family relatives and relationships. It's usually just himself with nobody ever around to take care of him or look out for him. On the other hand, Jose does not tend to stay alone over the weekends. Every weekend he goes out to have fun at a club or visits places and takes someone home to spend the night with him. Sometimes the person’s stay can become even longer depending on his mood. As he was looking at these girls he saw a sign. The sign said that there was a concert at the Las Vegas Casino. Jose saw this sign and he quickly ran back to the hotel he was staying at. At the hotel, he took a good long shower to …show more content…
Jose goes in for a hug and Angie throws the door and did not dare to hug him at all. She comes in screaming to Jose, the fact that if he had never asked her to leave she would have been there for her mom. Her mom would have not been alone. Jose gets offended the fact that Angie is trying to blame him for her mother's death. “Maybe if you were not so stupid you would have not came with me to just have sex. You knew I was going for that so why come. So, do not dare blame this on me. It is not my issue that you're own mother didn't teach you how to respect yourself.” Angie slapped Jose and she left mad. Angie yelled, “You will regret saying that trust me.” Jose did not really care he just shut the door on
The second threat is many states are legalizing or planning to legalize commercial casino gambling. Unlike Native American casinos commercial casinos turn over a large share of their profit to the cities and states in taxes.
Jim’s feeling of loneliness has a big impact on his view of Alena. If Jim met another girl that day on the beach, and who was not as attractive he would have acted very different. Jim was very vulnerable at that moment and needed som...
To begin with, the overall atmosphere created by the author implies a sense of loneliness. ‘Soledad’, the setting of the book, means loneliness in Spanish, and many hints, such as the numerous games of ‘solitaire’ played, also refer back to the theme, as it a word that sounds familiar to solitary, meaning isolated. The contrasting effects of the first section, with the description of a beautiful scenery, broken by the sound of the highway, also creates a sense of solitude, but in a peaceful manner, rather than one which is undesired, which is the one that affects the characters of the book.
Despite this, the authors parents created a comfortable haven for him and his siblings in their adopted country. The author shares with the reader how close and tightly-knit his family was. He describes in numerous instances the "special feeling of closeness" that he shared with his family. He also mentions the fact that he used to feel a "desperate, urgent, intense" feeling of wanting to be home. Spending time at home, speaking his "personal" language of Spanish, and being with his family gave Rodriguez comfort and a feeling of safety that was not felt outside of his home.
By first referencing “Starry Night”, a painting generally considered to be undoubtedly beautiful, Bogard establishes that the natural magnificence of stars in a dark sky is definite. A world absent of excess artificial light could potentially hold the key to a grand, glorious night sky like Van Gogh’s according to the writer. This urges the readers to weigh the disadvantages of our world consumed by unnatural, vapid lighting. Furthermore, Bogard’s alludes to Paris as “the famed ‘city of light’”. He then goes on to state how Paris has taken steps to exercise more sustainable lighting practices. By doing this, Bogard creates a dichotomy between Paris’ traditionally alluded-to name and the reality of what Paris is becoming – no longer “the city of light”, but moreso “the city of light…before 2 AM”. This furthers his line of argumentation because it shows how steps can be and are being taken to preserve natural darkness. It shows that even a city that is literally famous for being constantly lit can practically address light pollution in a manner that preserves the beauty of both the city itself and the universe as a
Throughout the poem “Sometimes Mysteriously” the author, Luis Omar Salinas, utilizes a variety of poetic techniques, especially figurative language, to reveal the speaker's thoughts on the topic of loneliness. In the beginning of the text, Salinas uses personification to put emphasis on the speaker’s loneliness. Moreover, to build on the speaker being lonely, Salinas has a distinct solemn tone throughout the poem, to show the toll loneliness is taking on the speaker. Finally, Salinas conveys his theme by shifting the tone and attitude of the speaker from pessimistic and gloomy to optimistic. The change in the reader's tone helps show that it took courage to face the speaker’s loneliness and this courage is what resulted in the speaker’s happiness.
There are many reasons why people gamble and what the advantages and disadvantages are of risking your bank account on the roll of the dice or the luck of the draw. I originally set out to try and explain why people gamble, but I realized that gambling is just as much of a business or industry as anything else. I researched Foxwoods casino, in CT, and the business behind that. From there I will attempt to explain the “cause and effect” of gambling. Gambling has made much more sense to me now, and I hope it will do the same for you.
Leaving Las Vegas, directed by Mike Figgis and based on the autobiographical novel by John O’Brien, is an emotional story about an alcoholic who rejects life and wants to drink himself to death in Las Vegas, and an unselfish prostitute who loves him the way he is. Ben, played by Nicholas Cage, was a former movie producer in Los Angeles and has obviously crumbled in the glamour world of Hollywood which is shown in the opening scene. Here Ben is already an alcoholic when he disturbs former colleagues that are embarrassed of his appearance at the restaurant. Ben is unstable and a mess when one of the men give him money and tell him not to contact him again. Ben then gets fired and ultimately decides to drink himself to death in Las Vegas, a city constructed on greed, crime and moral negligence. We are never certain of the cause of Ben’s alcoholism, especially when he says “I don’t remember if I started drinking because my wife left me, or my wife left me because I started drinking.” In a last attempt and hope of human interaction, Ben pays the hooker Sera, played by Elisabeth Shue, 500 dollars to spend a night with him. Sera is magically attracted to the loser type of man, as Figgis shows us with her boyfriend Yuri, her abusive pimp and boyfriend. This drama is about the absolute love between two people that live on society’s border who need each other to know that they exist.
When you love someone, you 've gotta trust them. There 's no other way. You 've got to give them the key to everything that 's yours. Otherwise, what 's the point? And for a while, I believed, that 's the kind of love I had” (Casino). Casino centers on Sam ‘Ace’ Rothstein, a gambler of legendary skill who is sent by the mob in the early 1970s to Las Vegas to manage its newly acquired Tangiers Hotel and Casino. Ace is an outsider among outsiders: a dispassionate, calculating, almost pitifully tender civilian among thugs. He’s a Jewish bookie sent by the mob to manage a Vegas casino and embezzle cash for the crime bosses back home. Even when he dons a flamboyant suit and runs patrol around the felt tables of his amoral arena, he looks unsatisfied.
Arriving at Lacey’s house I walk to the backdoor letting myself into the house. Lacey was putting on tanning lotion in the kitchen, “Lacey,” I called to her, “my mom wants me to pick up snacks for the beach, do you want to go into town with me?”, “Sure,” she replied, “do you mind if my cousin comes with us?”, “Of course I don’t mind,“ I answered, “but we have to get moving, my dad only left me the car to use ‘til noon.”
Later the poor and inculpable man came outside to throw the garbage. The clear night and few stars in the west and the steady, light traffic on EL Camino made him to see the life and the question in another perspective. He though about the old days and though about the future. Eventually he found how precious his wife to him and he loves his wife so much. He feel that he argue with her and make her unhappy. He feel regret, so he changed his mind. A man who loves his wife really much would so something like him.
It was about one-thirty in the morning in the town of Homestead Michigan. The almost florescent light of the moon bouncing off the fresh puddles that covered the ground. The grass and trees were covered in a thin layer of water causing every little beam of light to reflect back up. Anyone who may have been outside at this time would have without double, smelled the mix of fresh dirt and night crawlers. As the moonlight started to fade away through the cloud cover, three buses made there way through the streets and parked in front of HHS, the local high school.
Attention Getter-Every evening at sunset, the city of Paris is illuminated with the Eiffel Tower’s light show.
The city was blinding me with shining lights that you could see from space. It was glistening in the night and dull by day. There were cars parked all alongside the streets and traffic jams every corner.
During this specific night, an army of mysterious, murky clouds seized control of divine sky, devouring the sun. Favored by the troops, the moon, displaying its glorious luminescence upon a shadowy city, wins a triumphant victory over the sun. A ferocious leader of the army activates the withdrawal then leads dedicated soldiers to west as if they are tracking down a wild dog. On the other hand, the city transmits its vivid and righteous illuminations back to the sky to let people in the “second floor” know that “era of tranquility” began. Imagine the astonishing night, rigid and bright buildings lie elegantly on the moonlight sky, bring lights gaze from the thousands of bulbs. It is beautiful, yet no one knows what beauty is upon them.
