This time of year, we are supposed to be fueled by the spirit of Christmas. We are supposed to say, “Merry Christmas”, or “Happy Holidays” to everyone we meet. Truth be told, and we all know if for a fact, very rarely do we run into someone who really has the Spirit of Christmas.
But, every now and then…
My sister, Diane, has a son, Dante, who is an Army Ranger stationed in Georgia. For Christmas, she wanted to mail his Christmas stocking to him before he shipped out. She only had a few days to get it to him. The stocking was filled with gift cards, candies that he liked, and some other ‘extras’ for his trip (not sure why the air quotes around ‘extras’, but that is between a mother and her son).
At the post office, she explained the situation with her son to the clerk behind the counter, and wanted to ensure that Christmas gift would arrive before he left. Unfortunately, she was told that there was no guarantee on its delivery if sent through normal channels. However, if she sent it 2-Day Priority, it would arrive on-time.

The clerk pressed a few keys, and a price came up on the display. The cost would be just under fifty dollars.
Before my sister could even answer, a woman who stood behind my sister, and overheard the exchange, chimed in and said, “Excuse me, but I would like to pay that for you”.
My sister was startled and quickly put her hand over the price displayed. “Thank you very much, but this is way too expensive.”
But the woman insisted, and went on to explain why.
“My nephew was in the Navy,” she said, “and I always worried when he was somewhere other than home. I can’t even begin to imagine how you must be feeling right now, so, please, let me pay
Deployment is a word that all military spouses and military families dread to hear. When my husband came home to our barely moved in house with news of his deployment to Afghanistan, I was devastated. Though we received terrible news, we also felt incredible joy that same week. I was pregnant with our first child. We were overjoyed by this news but it also meant that my husband would be away the first eight months of our son’s life.
Seven pairs of jeans,, thirteen shirts, two coats, one bottle of perfume, and nine necklaces; confidently she set all her times on the counter. The employees and Buckle smile sweetly at her as she slower priced up all of her times. After everything had finally been rung up, the lady at the counter told her, her total for that day was going to be, $2,541. The girl buying all of the new clothes caught the reaction of the people around her, and laughed to herself before calmly sliding her credit card across the counter. The lady swiped her card and put all the girls’ new items in a bag big enough, then returned the card to its owner. The girl thanked her, and walked out of the store with her chin up high. She had just spent over two thousand
The winter season was upon us. Snow fell, Christmas decorations were up, and our spirits were high. My brother, Milan, and I loved the holiday season. Spending time with our family, opening gifts, playing in the snow; it was all like a dream come true. Every year, we made our own wish lists, decorating them in green and red stickers. Although, for the last few years, all we wanted was one simple gift, in our opinion. It was a puppy. A puppy that would run around in our house and backyard, tennis ball stuffed in his mouth and the look of joy on his cute puppy dog face. It was the only thing I truly ever wanted; however, my parents constantly stressed that it was too much of a responsibility since my brother and I were at a fairly young age.

Who can argue about Christmas not being the best time of the year? Yes, Christmas triggers strong emotions which many cannot ignore. From emotion of love to the emotion of pity; Christmas never fails to bring it out. Christmas is the magic that everyone believes in. From little children who stay up in the wee night of Christmas Eve to hear Santa’s sleigh to adults whose hopes and dreams were once shattered are restored. Even though it is rather difficult to argue about Christmas, there are actually some people out there who dare to bacon the call.
During the course of the year, there is that one time where Christians from across the universe are united together like never before. As conflicts emerge about Christmas becoming a commercialized celebration in the Western World, the sincere significance of Christmas remains as the season for family gatherings- through grand feasts and mainly the exchange of gifts.
Bright lights and cheerful colors are usually the first things that come to mind when you think of Christmas. Your mind can easily imagine the feel of the fluffy white snow as well as the crisp, fresh smell of peppermint in the air. This holiday is my favorite day of the year, for the joyous atmosphere it spreads all around. In America, Christmas is considered a significant event. Not only does it celebrate happiness and a time for being with family, but it also celebrates the birth of Jesus Christ. As a result, my family and I take advantage of using this holiday as a way to spend memorable times with each other as well as celebrating the true meaning of Christmas.
A Christmas card is a welcome card sent as a component of the conventional festival of Christmas keeping in mind the end goal to pass on between individuals a scope of assessments identified with the Christmas and Christmas season. Christmas cards are normally traded amid the weeks going before Christmas Day by many individuals (counting non-Christians) in Western culture and in Asia. The customary welcome peruses "wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year". There are countless minor departure from this welcome, many cards communicating more religious supposition, or containing a sonnet, petition, Christmas melody verses or Biblical verse; others avoid religion with a comprehensive "Season's welcome".
Christmas to me isn’t about all the flashy lights, ribbons, presents, or trees; the real reason for the season is the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ. Most people think just the opposite and lose sight of real meaning behind Christmas. Black Friday shopping has basically became a national holiday around the US simply because people are materialistic, and think things like the next new Xbox or play station is more important than spending time with their family. There is a big hint to the meaning of Christmas; the first word is Christ. I love waking up Christmas morning, and opening up my presents to see what all I got just as much as anyone, but I try my best not to let that be the best part of my day. Coming together
Ever since I could remember, I have spent Christmas at my grandmother’s house, a house which is full of comfort, warmth, and happiness. At Christmas, I have always been able to escape the cold and dark real world allowing myself to truly enjoy just several moments in time. These moments have left impressionable memories from my childhood making Christmas a holiday that is special to me and my family. It is a time for my family to get together, share stories, laugh, and even cry.
I never received any presents at Christmas and surprisingly, I didn’t complain about it. Instead of receiving presents, my family always helps those who are in need and people who are less fortunate at Christmas. Our family Christmas Eve was spent at the church service which lasts until midnight. Afterwards, we lit some fireworks and we placed a variety of candles all around the house to represent that Jesus is the Light of the world.
Christmas is a time for family, reflection, enjoyment and, for our family, a celebration of the birth of our Savior. On December 24, I, my husband, and our four children traditionally arrive mid-morning at the home of my in-laws to celebrate Christmas with them. The format of the visit rarely changes from year to year, and there is comfort in the consistency and expectation in the well-loved traditions experienced in their home. My parents-in-law are wonderful, Godly people who celebrate both the historic and the Biblical components of the holidays, and open their home with welcome warmth. The yearly festivities they furnish are very reminiscent of the Christmas party that Fred, Scrooge’s nephew, hosted in his home (Dickens, 1991, Chapter
The most joyous season of the year in our house is Christmas. All the family gets together, gifts are exchanged and we give thanks for all that we have. This Christmas however, was one that I will never forget. If it weren't for the help of a stranger coming to my rescue, my holidays would have been ruined. He reminded me that a little kindness really does go along way.
Christmas is usually celebrated by family and friend gatherings, which can bring a large variety of emotions. On this holiday some people feel happiness, and are cheerful because they are surrounded by their loved ones. The “Christmas Season” is the time many people reunite with the ones they have not seen all
At a young age, I was raised as a child who’s exposed to the idea of excessive Christmas splurging and a child who always looked for gifts. Christmas as a child for me always meant getting new toys and treats, waking up on a Christmas morning welcomed by a Christmas tree with a pile of presents. I can still remember Christmas when I was seven years old. It was the time when I got my first Christmas themed story book that made me believe that I shouldn’t be naughty so that Santa wouldn’t forget
