Lake Tahoe is a large freshwater lake in the Sierra Nevada of the United States.
At a surface elevation of 6,225 ft (1,897 m), it straddles the border between California and Nevada, west of
Carson City.
Lake Tahoe is 2/3 in California and 1/3 in the state of Nevada.
It is the largest alpine lake in North America.
It is the second deepest lake in the United States and the tenth deepest in the world, with a maximum depth measured at 1,645 ft (501 m), average depth of 1,000 ft (305 m).
It is the sixth largest lake by volume in the United States at 122,160,280 acre·ft (150,682,490 dam3), behind the five Great Lakes.
Lake Tahoe has surface area of 191 square miles (495 square kilometers)

The center of the Lake can appear indigo, as blue light is absorbed further, leaving more visible violet light as the predominant light color. In shallow areas, the water can appear emerald or turquoise in color since green is the predominant light color at shallow depths. In addition, under the right conditions, the Lake surface can reflect the adjacent mountains and the color of the sky.
Lake Tahoe is over 2 million years old. Tahoe is considered an ancient lake and is counted among the 20 oldest lakes in the world.
Many, many years after the lake was formed and named, the large mountain at the north end of the lake erupted in a violent explosion. Hot lava, gases, and ashes escaped through the rupture in the earth’s surface. The lava flowed southward and traces of it can still be seen in folds on the lake bottom at the north end. The mountain itself is now known as Mt. Pluto (8,617’). It is in the Northstar ski area.
The surrounding mountain peaks vary from 2,750 to nearly 3,350 (9,000 to nearly 11,000 feet).
The sun shines on average 75% of the time during daylight hours.
There are about 270 days sunny and partly sunny days each
Blue is used to represent the water as well as the sky and both similar and range in different tones. All of the colors in this piece are washed out but still have a bright quality to them. The colors aren’t brightly pigmented however; Hiroshige does a satisfying job of drawing in the viewer with the color choices used and the little details. The sun in the sky is simply the white of the paper and almost looks as if the color burns through. Pops of red, show in blocks on the right side of the work wit Japanese writing inside each one, which contrasts with the large amounts of blue and helps the writing stand out.

The west coast of North America has been tectonically and volcanically active for billions of years. The Sierra Nevada Mountains in eastern California were born of volcanoes, and magma has been erupting in the Long Valley to the east of the mountains for over three million years (Bailey, et. al., 1989). However, the climactic eruption of the region occurred relatively recently in the region's geologic history. About 760,000 years ago, a huge explosion of magma warped the Eastern Sierra into the landscape that exists today. The eruption depleted a massive magma chamber below the earth's surface so that the ceiling of the chamber imploded, forming what is now known as the Long Valley caldera. The caldera is at the eastern base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains, about 50 km northwest of the town of Bishop, and 30 km south of Mono Lake (Bailey, 1976).
Crater Lake is located at southwestern off Highway 62 in Oregon. It is Oregon?s only national park. It is the deepest lake in the United States and is the seventh deepest in the world. Crater Lake has an average diameter of 5.3 miles in length and is approximately 1,932 feet deep.

Lake Tahoe, an enormous expanse of clear, blue, fresh water surrounded by meadows and dense forests and rimmed by snow-capped peaks, is one of the world's great scenic and ecological wonders. Tahoe's water is world famous for its amazing clarity. Even today, one can see objects 70 feet below the surface, a clarity matched almost nowhere in the world. The Tahoe Basin had a slowly evolving and essentially balanced environment for thousands of years, with surrounding forests, meadows and marshlands helping to maintain the clarity and purity of the lake.
Land subsidence is defined as the gradual sinking of the Earth’s surface (USGS 2016). Areas of concern include the Tulare Lake Basin and the San Juaquin basin, with land subsidence of up to 30ft due to groundwater overdraft (Lund and Harter 2013). Land subsidence can be a threat locally because of the damage it can cause to infrastructure, canals, bridges, and sewers. Figure 3 demonstrates how dire the results may be from land subsidence. Figure 3 is an image demonstrating how much land subsidence has occurred in the Central Valley, near the area of Mendota California. In the image it can be seen how the land has significantly dropped with time as a result of the large amounts of groundwater that have been withdrawn from the
California’s Mono Lake is three times more saltier than the Pacific ocean. When measuring the chemicals, that is. It's on the opposite end of the pH scale from acids. The lake is full of alkaline bases that make the water have a slimy and soapy feel.
Mountain ranges in California formed when the Earth tectonic plates collide together. When the tectonic plates collide they cause the earth to uplift
...om Victoria University says “a 70-metre chunk of ice broke off the terminal face of Tasman glacier”, therefore releasing an estimated seven million cubic metres of ice into Tasman Lake.
Lake Nicaragua is located in Nicaragua and is one of the largest freshwater bodies of water in the Americas.
Amber and orange deepens and yellow most flesh colors. They turn rouges more orange. Cool colors are grayed.
When I first looked at the picture, it looked like there were only two colors green and blue. When I got closer to the picture I noticed there were many other colors used. I loved the way the colors were mixed into each other where you have to really look at the picture to see the colors. The other colors, other then green and blue, were pink, white, orange, red, and yellow. There were also different shades of green and blue. There was only one solid color in the picture; it was black.
