Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta also known as Lady Gaga, is more than meets the eye. She is a songwriter, music producer, actress, great role model for young women, and advocate for all human rights and for LGTBQ rights. Her music is listened to and relates to millions of people around the world. Her artistry and her volunteer work within communities is more influential than most people would think. Lady Gaga was born on March 28, 1986 in Yonkers, New York to Italian-American parents. Her love of music began at the age of 4 when she first learned to play the piano. She continued with her songwriting throughout middle and high school, and by age 14 was performing original songs in night clubs in New York City. Later on, she was one out of the 20 people in the entire world, who received early admission from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts. She later dropped out and decided to pursue the music industry on her own. She performed in nightclubs throughout the city and helped write music for artists like Britney Spears and New Kids on the Block, until she was discovered by Akon. Music artist Akon discovered her talent through her own burlesque show that she directed and starred in called, “Lady Gaga and the Starlight Revue”. Her stage name Lady Gaga was inspired from one of her favorite songs, “Radio Ga-Ga”. She later signed with Akon and his record label company, and that is when her music career took flight. Her most famous songs come from her first two albums, “The Fame” and “The Fame Monster”. These albums include her very first chart toppers, such as “Just Dance” and “Poker Face”. In 2011 she released her third album, “Born This Way”. Following this album she released her fourth album “Pop Art”, which actually did not resonate with fans that well, but still made the charts.
