La Vida de Fernando Botero
Fernando Botero llevado en Colombia en 1932. En 1951, él viajó a Bogotá, donde él tenía su primera exposición individual en la galería de Matiz. Él estudió en Madrid en la academia del San Fernando y en Florencia, donde él aprendió las técnicas del fresco de los italianos. En 1956 él trabajó en la escuela de los artes finos de la universidad en Bogotá y viajó a Ciudad de México para estudiar el trabajo de Rivera y de Orozco. Durante los años sesentas en Nueva York, Botero empiezó una forma de pintura figurada del renacimiento y de pintura barroca con la tradición colonial de América latina. En 1969 su obras bellos fueron en el museo del arte moderno en Nueva York.
Seises de sus trabajos de arte famosos son el cuarto de baño, pares, una familia, hombre con el perro, los músicos, y un naturaleza muerta de la sandía. La pintura representa a una familia presidencial faimily quiénes parecen cerdos. Las siete personas en la pintura son todas gordos, el gato son gordo también. Esta vida política del satire. Una mujer gorda en el centro con un bolso y una ropa animal en un brazo. El sacerdote y el comandante están detrás de la mujer con el bolso y en el primero plano está una serpiente.
Alfredo Corchado — is the author of the book named " Midnight in Mexico:A Reporter's Journey through a Country's Descent into Darkness”. We are, probably, all interested in finding out the facts, news, and gossips about Mexico. This country was always associated with something mysterious. For me personally, the title of the book seemed to be very gripping, I was interested in revealing the secrets of life in Mexico, thus I decided to read this book. I was really curious, what can Alfredo Corchado tell me about the life in this country, the country, where the constant massacre is the picture, people used to see. In his book, the author tells the reader about the real situations, which took place in Mexico, reveals the secrets of the people’s lives and tells the story from the “inside”. He describes the way he lives his life, and does his work. The " Midnight in Mexico: A Reporter's Journey through a Country's Descent into Darkness” is a memoir. Author tries to transform his own experience into the story line. Corchado shows the reader the darkest episodes of Mexican society, while relying on his own experience.
Norma Elia Cantu’s novel “Canícula: Imágenes de una Niñez Fronteriza” (“Canícula: Snapshots of a Girlhood en la Frontera”), which chronicles of the forthcoming of age of a chicana on the U.S.- Mexico border in the town of Laredo and Nuevo Laredo in the 1940s-60s. Norma Elia Cantú brings together narrative and the images from the family album to tell the story of her family. It blends authentic snapshots with recreated memoirs from 1880 to 1950 in the town between Monterrey, Mexico, and San Antonio, Texas. Narratives present ethnographic information concerning the nationally distributed mass media in the border region. Also they study controversial discourse that challenges the manner in which the border and its populations have been portrayed in the U.S. and Mexico. Life is like a game of blackjack where we unknowingly are dealt good or bad cards. This unpredictability makes it difficult to gamble decisions. Unfortunately many factors can lead to the bad card where in both the game and life, people are trying to prevent us from achieving the goal. There are two choices to change the outcome however, we may either give up (fold) or we may take a chance (call). The beauty of taking the risk is that if lucky, life gives you that much-needed card. When dealt that winning card, a person is immediately uplifted. That one good hand drives a person to outweigh the pros from the cons and continue to strive for the winning pot or in this case, the goal in life. Enrique in Sonia Nazario’s “Enrique’s Journey,” is dealt both the good and bad cards in life, as he undergoes a battle of being pushed internally to continue while also being pulled externally to quit, thus leading him to unearth himself as a worthy human being while on the journey to the U.S; sadly however, his arrival in the U.S refutes what he clearly envisioned for himself.

Starting a new life is very problematic for many Central American children that migrate to the United States. There are a lot of difficulties involved in the process to migrate to the United States including the journey to get there. An extremely common way to migrate is by train. Migrants usually take away many life lessons from the journey to the United States such as the generosity and assistance from fellow Central Americans. On the other hand there’s extreme hardships. For example, the many robberies, and gang violence a migrant can face on the journey to the United States. During the trip, migrants learn that they usually cannot take things for granted, especially how scarce food, supplies, and other necessities are.

During the period of time, starting from the late 1800’s to the early 1900’s, realism in arts rose. It was a movement against the previous movement of Romanticism, which was glorifying the world and presenting it in an unreal way. Things that were painted were often unrealistic and were drawn out of the artist’s imagination. Artists felt that artworks should have a social consciousness and they also wanted to break away from the previous styles of art. Realism was the style of art that focused on the reality and the original, but not that pleasing side of the object or idea. It was also a way of revealing the truth of the ordinary lives in the country. Artists felt the need to express arts through daily lives and society, instead of symbolic representations. They were able to express art through daily lives by painting workers, farmers, common man, they expressed society by painting what they had actually seen, and focusing on the emotions expressed by ordinary people.
Art movement’s characteristics vary from nation to nation, but painting can be used as a critique of the socio-political reality in a given nation. It is a creative way to communicate with a population about economic, education and social issues. The word art is an encompassing one, vastly interpreted and with multiple definitions. In the case of Picasso's painting Guernica, art informs, educates and expresses. Its power lies in its ability to capture and compel an audience nearly six decades after the modern world's "other" day of infamy. To understand fully the painting that evolved out of the Spanish painter's outrage, one must know its context. "Why do you think I date everything I do? Because it is not sufficient to know an artist's works--it is also necessary to know when he did them, why, under what circumstances" (Picasso). An appreciator who knows the saga of Spain's historical fishing village is given a depth of experience that only a genius like Picasso could portray --"it may well be the most terrifying document on the horrors of war ever to be produced by an artist" (Wertenbaker 126).
On November 1st, I attended the event of Axis Mundo Queer Networking in Chicano LA: A Talk by Ondine Chavoya and David Frantz. The Axus Mundo Queer Networking in Chicano LA celebrates Latino art studies. It focuses on their culture, people, places, events, and artworks in the late 1960s to the early 1990s. Mundo Meza have a focal point on the expedition. He was close to community peer and spoke reference in public spectacles. In the late 150s to the early 1970s, Mundo Meza and Robert “Cyclona” Legorreta performed and collaborated together on stage. They performed the Chicano Wedding, “gay wedding,” where Legorreta was the bride and Mundo being the bride maid.
