Challenge statement: “Despite worldwide softness in the sale of luxury goods, LVMH has cemented its position as the world’s largest and most profitable player in the category. To stay there it must keep its customers loyal and its brand strong and find new markets worldwide” (Hazlett C. 2004). That is why in its mission they state to represent the most refined qualities of Western “ art de vivre” all around the world. Their objective is to be the leader in the luxury market, continuing to transmit elegance and creativity. This poses some major challenges, the main one is to keep being the leader in the luxury market through a sustainable growth. The main problem to achieve it is the high dependency on three main countries, France, Japan and USA. This becomes a threat because if there is an economic downturn in one country it affects LVMH directly that is why. ANALYSIS Financial analysis. LVMH founds itself in a stable financial situation. Being positioned as the market leader they have better financial results than the rest of the competitors. Although the sales results for 2004 were under the industry’s average the overall performance over the last 5 years was 3% higher then the industry. It is important to note that the major owner of the company’s capital is present CEO Bernard Arnault with 47.52% of the control of the company with 64% of voting rights. This may have an Important impact in the overall performance and operating decision taken in the company. Marketing system After a 4 P analysis of the company one found that it found itself in a luxury market where product quality and constant innovation are key points for the success. That is why the production process and its design can take even months. Product line is extensive however it is only conformed of high priced products. Price in this case is a guarantee of the quality present in the product. Moreover, high pricing represent an element of differentiation that the customer appreciates. However this is not a setback, LVMH has managed to have world wide presence and success. To accomplish it its selective retailing division is of high importance. Nevertheless, promotion posses the major challenge since its through this that the image of the product its transmitted that is why the company poses a major part of its budget in this section. It is Important to note that the percentage allocated is higher than those of most competitors.
And finally LVMH diversification strategy (Bernard Arnault) is making acquisitions outside the company’s sector. In sector where they don’t have the “know-how” and don’t match the company Image. The current CEO (Arnault Bernard) is also the major shareholder which makes him easier to make decisions on new acquisitions
They are the impartial third-party whose responsibility is to deliver a verdict for the accused based on the evidence presented during trial. They balance the rights of society to a great extent as members of the community are involved. This links the legal system with the community and ensures that the system is operating fairly and reflecting the standards and values of society. A trial by jury also ensures the victim’s rights to a fair trial. However, they do not balance the rights of the offender as they can be biased or not under. In the News.com.au article ‘Judge or jury? Your life depends on this decision’ (14 November 2013), Ian Lloyd, QC, revealed that “juries are swayed by many different factors.” These factors include race, ethnicity, physical appearance and religious beliefs. A recent study also found that juries are influenced by where the accused sits in the courtroom. They found that a jury is most likely to give a “guilty” verdict if the accused sits behind a glass dock (ABC News, 5 November 2014). Juries also tend to be influenced by their emotions; hence preventing them from having an objective view. According to the Sydney Morning Herald article ‘Court verdicts: More found innocent if no jury involved’ (23 November 2013), 55.4 per cent of defendants in judge-alone trials were acquitted of all charges compared with 29 per cent in jury trials between 1993 and 2011. Professor Mark Findlay from the University of Sydney said that this is because “judges were less likely to be guided by their emotions.” Juries balance the rights of victims and society to a great extent. However, they are ineffective in balancing the rights of the offender as juries can be biased which violate the offender’s rights to have a fair
With a jury trial that power is divided between twelve citizens that could come from many different walks of life. This becomes a safeguard against one person acting rashly, without enough information, or with biases. In Document E on the right hand side of the page there is a comment with the caption, “We, the jury, find the defendant to be as guilty as he looks” (Doc E). It seems far more of a danger that a judge should be operating under that principle. If a judge were to rule in these ways that would just be that and the defendant would have to appeal in order to change whatever wrongful decision this judge made. This wastes the defendant’s money, tax payer money, and everyone’s time, not mentioning the intensely disruptive nature that ruling would have in the defendant’s life. In Document C John Gastil and Phil Weiser wrote, “ Jury service [has] a special role of ensuring popular…[oversight in] the judicial process” ( Doc C). Jury service allows everyday people, the exact people who may require fair trials in the future, to have a say over what happens in a courtroom and have the power to weigh evidence and arguments for themselves. Gastil and Weiser later said that, “In theory, elections play a similar role in ensuring, “the people’s
Very little seems as it was first observed in A Doll’s House. Though Nora at first appears to be a silly, selfish girl, but then we learn that she has made great sacrifices to save her husband 's life and pay back her secret loan. She has realized her true strength and strikes out as an independent woman by the time the play ended. For all his faults, Torvald appears to be a loving, devoted and generous husband. Later, it becomes obvious that he is a shallow, vain man, who is only concerned about his public reputation; he is too feeble to deliver on his promise to protect Nora from her burden. The Helmer marriage appears perfect and affectionate, but turns out to be based on lies, play-acting, incommensurate and an unequal relationship. Krogstad appears to be an acrimonious, vindictive and an extortionist but when he is reunited with his true love, Mrs. Linde, he becomes more considerate, compassionate and magnanimous. Mrs. Linde, who first assumes to us to be self-sufficient, but feels "empty" at a closer look, especially, now that she has no one to look after, Dr. Rank acts the role of friend to the duo of Torvald and Nora and visits the duo daily just

This becomes one of the main driving forces of Ibsen’s play. (Quote from Torvald and the money). It immediately distinguishes the differences in gender roles and morals in Norway during the late 1800’s. While Nora is willing to give the porter twice what is owed, we assume she is full of holiday spirit; Torvald has a much more sensible outlook on financial concerns. While he jokingly calls her his little spendthrift, he asserts that her lack of understanding is a result of her gender “Nora, my Nora, that is just like a woman” (Ibsen). Torvald believes that her place in the home is simply ornamental, a trophy that serves as decoration for his home. Torvald is constantly referring to her through the use of pet names such as (quote pet names from book) and only ever refers to her by name when he is scolding her. Not only does Torvald see her as his doll, but also as her child (quote near end of story). By keeping Nora dependent and obedient to him, he plays the role of Nora’s second father. Nora eventually sees that her daughter is being treated in the same manner that she was her entire life, as a
The Declaration of Independence is a document that was written by Thomas Jefferson, Ben Franklin, Roger Sherman, John Adams and Robert Livingston in 1776 to justify why the colonists wanted independence from England. The Declaration of Independence is still relevant because of the idea that all men have equal rights, the idea that the government exists to protect the rights of its people and lastly, the idea that the people can create a new government if the current one does not protect their rights.
The modern day Chinese society has revolutionized the luxury industry as the Chinese consumer is receptive to luxury brands unlike any other consumer in the world. The high pressure luxury brand industry has evolved over the last few decades from a small and selective to a multibillion dollar arena offering significant potential and growth opportunity for the luxury brands that compete within its realm. With many luxury brands competing for over $225 billion (The Economist, 2009) in revenue each year it is easy to see how strategy plays an important role.
Nora engages in a mutually dependent game with Torvald in that she gains power in the relationship by being perceived as weak, yet paradoxically she has no real power or independence because she is a slave to the social construction of her gender. Her epiphany at the end at the play realises her and her marriage as a product of society, Nora comes to understand that she has been living with a constr...
Torvald and Nora Helmer are the main characters in the play. Torvald is the domineering head of household while Nora is meek and submissive, or so she would have Torvald believe. Torvald refers to Nora as a “spendthrift”, a “sulky squirrel”, a “sweet little lark” and a “little prodigal”, all of which he means as sweet terms of affection but instead he comes off as condescending. Torval treats Nora like a child yet he expects his wife to cater to his every demand, and he thrives off the power he
Here, visual merchandising will be a beneficial tool in defining the exclusive identity of the brand and thereby increasing the sales and their market value. It is the appropriate time that the Indian retail industry understands and adopts the beneficial traits visual merchandising rather than the traditional practices of display of products and communication via sales personnel. The customers are trends aware and the stores on the other hand have managed to up the glamour quotient. Only a link of brand communication between the brand products and shoppers remains missing. (Pundir, 2007)
