Kobe Bryant is a retired American NBA basketball player and current businessman. Bryant was born August 23, 1978 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. His love of basketball started at an early age and his favorite team as a child was the Los Angeles Lakers. Kobe Bryant is the son of retired NBA player Joe Bryant and is the maternal nephew of John “Chubby” Cox a retired NBA player. His listed height has him at a staggering 6ft 6 inches and his last recorded weight was 212 pounds.
He entered the NBA directly from high school. Bryant attended high school at Lower Merion High School in Ardmore, Pennsylvania. He excelled at basketball and was quickly established as one of the most promising high school basketball players in the league. In 1996, straight out of high school, Bryant was drafted 13th overall in the NBA draft. The Charlotte Hornets initially drafted Bryant before trading him with the Los Angeles Lakers, where he would remain for the rest of his career.
