Knight-Thompson Speech work, is a skills-based approach to voice and dialect training for performers that emphasizes physical actions which make speech. The Knight-Thompson Speech work method combines extensive examination of how vocal mechanisms work, along with playful experimentation to learn about and train the voice (ktspeechwork.com). At the center of this method, is intelligibility, which is described as the ability for a listener to understand the words that are said. This does not mean that the sound produced is beautiful or intellectual but rather, that every listener us able to understand the language that is produced easily. The idea behind this philosophy is that if the listener is able to clearly understand the basic level of communication, they will be free to pay attention to other messages such as body language, gesture, tone, etcetera (Knight). In order to achieve this goal of intelligibility, Knight-Thompson Speech work trains actors in developing precise physical skills for shaping sound into articulate speech. Knight believes that his speech work method is unique in that each actor will use the skills particular to their voice, which allows for actors to meet any requirement no matter the performance
Mary Fisher's speech on HIV and Aids was executed extremely well in almost every way possible. Out of all the aspects of Mary's speech, I felt her establishment of common ground is what made her speech so great. Pearson, Nelson, Titsworth, and Hosek (2016) says “common ground occurs when you and your audience share an understanding of the world”(p.246). Mary did a great job of sharing her understanding and views of HIV and Aids, which is helping to establish common ground with the audience. Also, Mary disclosed things about her personal life that made her establishment of common ground even greater with the audience. All in all, Mary’s use of common ground did great things for her during this speech about HIV

Mercutio is an extremely cocky jokester who views the subject of love as a very physical matter. When the Montagues are on their way to the Capulet party, Mercutio mocks Romeo saying, "If love be rough with you, be rough with love. Prick love for pricking, and you beat love down" (I, iv, 27-28). Mercutio is trying to comfort his friend by proclaiming that Rosaline is just another love prick in his life, and Romeo will love again after this phase of heartbreak. Several lines past, Mercutio's Queen Mab speech about a fairy creeping on people's dreams stretches on and on (I, iv, 53-94). Romeo tries to calm his friend, and the kinsman of the Prince admits to talking of nothing; he is one "that loves to hear himself talk and will speak more in a minute than he will stand in a month" (II, iv, 137-139). His tangent proves that his witty, light-hearted remarks puncture yet highlight the passionate, love-seeking qualities of Romeo.
Elie Wiesel, a holocaust survivor, delivered The Nobel Peace Prize Acceptance Speech, in Oslo on December 10, 1986. He started his speech off by reciting the following prayer: "Barukh atah Adonai …shehekhyanu vekiymanu vehigianu lazman hazeh"—"Blessed be Thou…for giving us life, for sustaining us, and for enabling us to reach this day." Then, after his speech, the people thanked him for everything he had done to help humankind make peace. With a profound sense of humility, he accepted this honor.
speaking voice, a gruff husky tenor, added to the impression of fractiousness he conveyed” (7). In Nick’s description of Tom it is evident that Tom uses his voice to impose his power on others. The combination of a sturdy body, gruff voice, and prestigious accomplishments means Tom could use his intimidation to gain more power throughout the story. Tom’s wife, Daisy, confirms his use of this power after he injures her when she says, “That’s what I get for marrying a brute of a man, a great big, hulking physical specimen…” (12). Nick is under Tom’s influence as well when Tom “stopped and rested his hand on my shoulder” (10). This is a simple yet powerful act of dominance over Nick displayed by Tom. Another aspect of Tom’s power is his control
Atlanta Compromise - The Atlanta Compromise was a speech delivered by Booker T. Washington in 1895, on the topic that both Blacks and Whites both need to come to the realization that they both needed each other and need to act in a manner that allows them to peacefully and equally live together. The message from Washington mainly targeted both black and white southerners. Washington believed that blacks in the south should be satisfied with their current situation and that their continued hard work would eventually lead to increasing respect from whites in the south.
A truly dramatic moment in history occurred on April 20, 1814, as Napoleon Bonaparte, Emperor of France and would-be ruler of Europe said goodbye to the Old Guard after his failed invasion of Russia and defeat by the Allies.
She developed the five elements framework, an opportunity to step into our full voices. Mostly she created the framework “by listening to patterns in people’s voices and noticing how they reflected their qualities as a person.” All this means that she exercise the vocal range by using 5 aspects of the voice, presenting an exaggeration of each one. She urges the readers or practitioners to pay attention to their own “brain rats” biases triggered by any of the voices. One of my favorite parts in her book were the questions she encourages us to ask about our voices. As what about them we like and what not, where in what moments did you feel connected to your full voice.Opt for curiosity over judgment. I will list the types of voices, their importance, and the exercises, but the information is better understood by watching her videos or reading the book. The five voices
The use of language manipulation and the way in which the composer presents his speech are all effective ways an authorial voice may get their message across.
Imagine living during the 1960’s when the nation was divided by segregation. The only way to express your ideas, beliefs, and thoughts during that time was through words. Famous Civil Rights activists such as, Dr.Martin Luther King Jr., inspired many with his wise words and empowering speeches. Times when many felt unheard or invisible, words were there as tranquilness and an ataraxia. Words have the power to provoke, calm, or inspire by motivating others to take action in what they believe in.
In Martin Luther King, Jr.’s speech, “I have a Dream,” he inspires the crowd to take a stand with the following words, “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” Clay felt like he had been quite for far too long, listening to Lula the Hyena harass him with her belittling words. Lula tells lies, is deceitful, and manipulative; these characteristics represent the oppressive white community. I will describe to you how Clay’s reactions, Dutchman, were solely based on Lula preying upon his weaknesses, like the troubles that the black race felt while battling Civil Rights.
This technique can greatly improve the accuracy of the system compared to direct ASR transcription of speech while that speaker is engaged in conversation or lecturing to a group of people.

Shortcomings of Atlanta Compromise Atlanta compromise was a deal struck between Mr. Washington, African American leaders, and the south. It had a shortcoming with the fact that the blacks were not supposed to ask the right to vote, oppose the racism behavior and should tolerate segregation and accept discrimination. Mr. Washington stresses that the blacks should not move and they should cast down their buckets wherever they were. Du Bois disagreed with Mr. Washington on this, which he terms it as ‘Atlanta compromise.’
