PetSmart When getting a pet, there are a lot of supplies that the pet needs while it’s in a person’s care, for instance, the animal needs shelter, food and water, and entertainment. One of the best ways to make sure its needs are met is to visit a pet store where a person can adopt the pet and get the supplies the pet needs at the same time. PetSmart is a pet store that helps local shelters adopt out their pets and helps people get the supplies they need for the new pets. PetSmart tries to show the “adopt, don’t shop” mentality through the layout of the store. PetSmart makes their pet enclosures model what a person would get when they adopt the pet. The birds have ladder looking contraptions that they can use to get around the enclosure. Some of the bird cages, such as the one with finches, have little nests that are made of straw. These nests are the shape of a potato, are hollowed out, and have a circular opening in the front side facing the glass. The small pets are what are commonly called rodents. Their enclosures are tiny cages with straw bedding, plastic igloo hideouts in various colors, running wheels, and tunnel tubes. The different enclosures have different items that these reptiles need. The bearded dragons have rocks and heat lamps that are directly attached to their enclosures for them only. There are also thermometers inside the enclosure so that temperature is monitored correctly. The anoles, lizards, chameleons, turtles, and snakes have a forest type setting in their enclosures. Year after year people buy puppies from big breeders. Have you ever wondered where that puppy grew up? What kind of conditions the puppy lived in? Most puppies that someone would buy from a pet store are raised in puppy mills. Puppy mills are well-known for their “inhumane conditions” and the endless breeding of “unhealthy and genetically defective” dogs only for income. People should adopt rather than buy from a pet store or breeder. By adopting from a shelter, one could give a dog a second chance at a happy life.

When I married my husband I had no idea he was as big of a sap as I was with animals. It wasn't unusual for us to head to the pet store to check out the latest available adoptions, or make our way to the pound. The trouble was, we could never leave empty handed. Turtles, fish, guinea pigs, parakeets-- but mostly cats. I'd

The students begin to unload some boxes which contain puppies and kittens ranging in age from three to six months. Once inside, the students begin to pass the puppies and kittens out to the patients that are waiting expectantly in the recreation room. But, they both also target people who are unsure if they want a pet or already to have a pet living in their home. However, both the SPCA and Alley Cat & Angel have a solution for the ones who are unsure about adopting a pet, offering a visit to meet the pet of their choice. We began our way down the long hall lined with informational posters that told you just what type of dog you were adopting. My father has always been more of a dog person, but we’ve been restricted to cats my whole life because of my brothers allergies. Entering that concrete room full of violent fluorescent lights and howling dogs was simply overwhelming. The small beagle on our left lept three feet in the air at the sight of my dad and I bending over to pet him through the bottom portion of the cage. I left my dad to pet the smaller dog as I made my way around the labyrinth of cages. I was met with a taped off area covered in water, and two pitbulls, crying for attention. Ignoring the wet floor caution tape, I stuck my hand in the larger
