One day around twenty years from now, Mike Weezington, a factory worker from a town called Mevia, the most polluted place on the planet, receives a box from the town’s king, King Pollute. Mevia is supposed to be the most heavenly-like place on Earth, but people just thought that making this luxurious place would be a waste of money and time. So instead, they turned the town into a factory filled town that creates lots of pollution. Within the box Mike received was a letter and a badge that has the symbol of the king, a piece of grimy sludge. The letter Mike had picked up says: “ If you want to receive better working conditions and a better place to live in, come meet me in my palace.” When Mike meets the king, the king gives Mike an offer that basically …show more content…
One obstacle he goes through is to trek over a trash-filled volcano, that is almost as tall as Mt. Everest, called Mt. Coronet. The volcano also spits out toxic fumes that comes from little vents on the side of the volcano, so Mike had to be very aware of that. The second obstacle wasn’t as hard to take care of, but it was still hard to take care of. He just had to navigate around a forest while fending of little mini gas monsters. As soon as he got through that, he had to walk another mile across a swampy marsh, which was also full of trash. At this point, Mike was just about to give up since he is extremely exhausted and has also ran out of essential supplies (food and water). But he remembered that if he completed the errand and returned to Mevia, he and his best friend would be able to transform the harsh environment they live in into the beautiful place it was meant to be. So, Mike persists and moves on. When he arrives to Dr. Chovynz’s house, the scientist he is supposed to work with, they start building the suit right away. As they work, Mike asks, “What does the suit actually
...ng himself or his family, he seems to know an awful lot about life and how things ought to be. The part of Mike seems to be the most likely of the characters to be the mouth piece for the shows creators, writers and producers. Rarely is Mike made to look silly or ignorant. On occasion Archie will have the upper hand but for the most part when Mike and Archie are debating, Mike through a well articulated view is usually the victor.
Mike was also a paranoid person. For example, he gave the wrong address and phone number to the school so if something happened they could not contact him.
In Yusef Komunyakaa’s essay “Dark Waters”, the sense of environmental injustice is highlighted, expressed by the conditions that communities with lower socioeconomic status endure. Komunyakaa indicates his disgust in returning with beginning his piece in a harsh tone, which implied reluctance within his return due to the discrimination within his environment, compared to Wordsworth, who felt a sense of nostalgia and inner happiness when returning to Tintern Abbey. This discrimination begins from the very beginning in the youth, where lower economic societies are condemned to “taste the chemicals in the air” (Komunyakaa 106). Compared to the typical pastoral environment that a Romantic poet such as Wordsworth was able to experience and write
Mikes father had died when he was only a little boy and you’d never believe it by looking at his mental state. The financial problems he went through being that he left an exceptional job in place for volunteering all his time toward Klal Yisroel, was only something such a holy person could handle.
The coaches inflict lots of pressure onto Mike, so much pressure that he ended up being too burnt out to play in college. His dreams were crushed by the powers that controlled him as he grew into an adult.
his life in a major way. Mike’s biology teacher encouraged him to the best at everything and to
Japanese cookies may be the best packaged treats in the world. Each cookie is wrapped in its own cellophane pack. The packets are placed in a box. The box is wrapped in paper. When the box is sold, it may be wrapped again and put into a bag. All those wrappings are just one source of Tokyo’s pounds of trash that a typical Tokyo resident makes each day. Multiply it by 12 million, and you get a breeding ground for flies, rats and disease. Garbage is just one source of health problems. Whenever people crowd into cities, pollution follows. Factory smoke and car exhaust create smog and breathing problems. The pollution makes acid rain, burning buildings and killing livestock. High population density makes diseases spread more quickly in small towns. Though Japan fixed it up, there is still major
Being raised in Ghana, receiving higher education in England and working as a professor in the United States certainly helped Kwame Anthony Appiah receive a fair share of different cultures. Appiah is a recognized philosopher with several published books and an impressive track record of accomplishments. His article The Case for Contamination, which was published in The New York Times, speaks on the topic of how globalization affects individuals in many aspects of their life. He discusses how forcefully preserving cultures can harm a culture more than help it. While the article is lengthy, it goes into great detail about how globalization affects people in countries all over the world, even Ghana. Globalization makes a large impact on the world we see today and cultural groups can benefit from the effects of globalization because it promotes diversity, creates cosmopolitan citizen development, and allows economic growth.
Instead of becoming like all of the rest of people he knows from where he grew up. Michael took a better path instead of taking a path that would ruin his life.
Hyperion to a Satyr is a narrative in which the narrator analyzes dirt’s effect of creating class barriers throughout human history. He discusses the history of hygiene and people’s efforts to exterminate dirt and other promoters of discrimination. Hyperion, a sludge treatment plant, is explained as the effective, but still imperfect, cleanser of the environment. The speaker also talks about other symbols of class distinction and their effects on our society. He claims that symbols are the seeds of our society’s destruction. This narrative takes place fifteen years after the start of the Second World War.
Nearly 10 years after hurricane Katrina ravaged through the city of New Orleans and surrounding areas in southern Louisiana, the city is still struggling to recover from the $108 billion caused by damage. Nominated for Academy and Emmy awards, the captivating documentary Trouble The Water analyzes the consequences played both during and following the disastrous events during hurricane Katrina. Such events are displayed using the sociological perspective —the perspective on human behavior and how it connects to society— to understand how poverty, social class, and racial issues are valued in different areas of the United States, especially in these troubled areas. Trouble the Water explores these issues of race, class, and the relationship of
In keeping with that spirit, we thought about the many things that Mike did to make us laugh. We remember the time he worked for Menna's meats as a delivery boy. Even while at work he would make us laugh. He would drive by the silver beach parking lot, while we were playing football, in a huge cream colored thunderbird doing his deliveries. As he would pull around the turn we knew it was Mike. As he passed by he would be wearing a huge orange colored crash helmet while giving us the thumbs up, man we would laugh hysterically.
There are many types of pollution. The main types of pollution are water, air, soil, thermal, radioactive, noise, and light. The topic for this experiment is Water Pollution. Water Pollution became a problem in the 1900’s when water started being treated like sewage. Earth Day was founded by United States Senator Gaylord Nelson on April 22, 1970 because of 1900’s pollution. Water Pollution also affects humans and animals. There was a Cholera outbreak in 1854, before water pollution became a problem, and a Typhoid outbreak in New York from 1900 to 1915. There are multiple possible causes to Water Pollution. Humans let out chemicals into the environment, and when some of those chemicals
Wastewater is the combination of water-carried or liquid wastes starting in the sanitary conveniences of dwellings, industrial or commercial facilities. In addition to this, surface water, groundwater and storm water may also be present. It is any water that has been badly affected in quality by anthropogenic influence. It contains waste from residential, industrial and commercial processes. Municipal water contains industrial wastewater, sewage and gray water. Gray water is the water from sinks and showers. Large industries also produce wastewater.
What is pollution? Pollution is a detrimental enemy to all species that walk on earth. It is a product of mankind carbon foot print on the environment. It consists of chemicals or particles in the air that can harm the health of humans, animals, and plants. Pollution occurs when pollutants contaminate the natural surrounding; which brings about changes that affect our normal lifestyles adversely. Pollutants are the key elements of pollution which are generally waste materials of dissimilar forms. Pollution disturbs our ecosystem and the balance in the environment. With innovation and development in our lives pollution has reached its peaks; giving rise to global warming and human illness. When raw materials, water, energy and other resources
