LEADERSHIP and POWER HN 347 PUBLIC PERSONAL ADMINISTRATION The market of professional basketball will never be the same. My case study will be on the all-around basketball player and one of my favorite players Kevin Durant. I am writing about Kevin Durant and his choice to leave the Oklahoma Thunders and team up with the Golden State Warriors. Kevin Durant had been the best player in the franchise history for the Oklahoma Thunder, not to be payed as so. Kevin Durant has never been the highest paid player on his team, but instead lead the team in almost every statistical category. The last season with Oklahoma Thunder Kevin contract was up for negotiations but the team still decided that Kevin would not get paid the salary that he was owed for his talents. This was a mistake and it caused a major issue as Kevin loved playing for his team just like he had done for his entire career, Now Kevin feels that it might be time to take his talents somewhere else. This is what lead him to make a tough decision to better his career and his family. …show more content…
Durant performance would have given him a better pay scale, based on his goals that the team could have set for him along with the objectives that needed to be met. This issue became a bigger problem because his needs were never met. In this case if the team managers and the owners would have taken the rational approach, they might still have Kevin Durant on their team and things would be moving forward. This would allow Mr. Durant to translate his goals and objectives into the playoffs that season and utility. (Denhardt, 2016) the rational model is one that works when both parties are sold on reaching an agreement that benefits everyone

Dreams come and go every night, but some dreams tend to stay for a lifetime. I have always dreamt to become a professional athlete in some way or another. Growing up I have always looked up to many different athletes. Whether it was Ladanian Tomlinson on the football field or Kobe Bryant on the basketball court I have always had some athlete that I wanted to be like someday.
Michael Jordan, what comes to your mind when you hear that name? Michael had played for the bulls and had gotten 6 championship rings with the team. Well, is it just me or does that sound like a lot of time in the game of basketball? In 1982 he took a big step up from highschool to college, where he wanted to pursue the basketball dream. He went to college at North Carolina where he played NCAA basketball for just one year before he was drafted in 1984. All eyes were on him when he went on the court, because that just how good he was at the game of basketball. Michael Jordan is one of the greatest players in NBA history, maybe even the greatest of all time.
The focus of professional sports has evolved from one of teamwork and camaraderie to one of avarice and greed. The specific problems in recent years that have stemmed off this overwhelming greed include exorbitant salaries, lockouts (or work stoppages) in professional sports, and the growing disparity among team payrolls. Most recognize these issues as major problems; however, others overlook the greed and see validity in the financial aspect of today's sports world. They argue that professional sports are thriving and should not be modified.
Wilt was a very famous basketball player. He played center position for the Los Angeles Lakers and the Philadelphia/San Francisco Warriors. Wilt built a huge mansion where he would throw parties all the time because he became super rich. He played for the University Of Kansas before playing in the NBA. Wilt changed NBA history like never before seen.
Specific Purpose: To persuade the audience that Michael Jordan even now in the present is still the greatest player ever to play in the NBA.
Upon hearing that this topic was about heroes, my mind became flooded with ideas and concepts. Family members, historical figures and celebrities had all come to mind. However, this person was the first name that came to mind. This man, depending on your prospective, is either a hero or a villain. To many, he and his qualities are basically the definition of a hero. He has a no-quit attitude, a passion, and a fire in his heart. He has the heart and soul of a true warrior and champion. He has never run, he has fought through the down times, the lows, to achieve greatness, and reach those highs, those great moments. This man is a rare find in this world, nobody will ever be like him. He has a killer instinct, or “Mamba Mentality”, and that is
When I began my report I didn’t know much about Michael Jordan, but I did know that he was “undoubtedly the greatest player in the history of the NBA'; (“Michael Air Jordan'; 1). It seemed like every time I heard the word basketball I also heard the name Michael Jordan. There’s just no avoiding him. If you are watching television you might see him playing basketball or golf. If you were reading a magazine there will probably be an advertisement with his picture. If you were walking down the street you might see a kid wearing Air Jordan shoes or a Bulls jersey with “JORDAN'; on the back of it. This man is probably as recognizable as the Pope.

For this paper, the discussion will go in four parts. The first part will introduce the readers to the basketball fever the NBA has brought millions around the globe and a brief rundown of the debate of overpaid athletes and salary cuts. The second part will be discussing the argument that the athletes of the NBA are not overpaid, while its subsections will point out three proofs to the matter. The third part will be discussing the position of this paper that the athletes of the NBA are indeed overpaid and its subsections will be refuting the claims raised in t...
In the following paper, we will briefly summarize the case study analysis of the “Power Play for Howard.” Additionally, the team will evaluate the benefits (tangible and intangible), costs, and risks associated with negotiating Juwan Howard’s free agent contract from the perspective of Juwan Howard and both teams’ general managers.

The Effect of British Imperialism on India and China The British went about imperialism in India and China using different methods, and even though there were large differences, both countries were significantly impacted, both during and after British colonization. The types of rule in India and China varied significantly. In India, the British used direct rule, whereas in China, the British used indirect rule. This was due to the fact that the British were physically in India, governing and controlling trade. Control in China was different since the British traded goods such as opium with the Chinese against their will.
The NBA should develop a differentiation leadership strategy. Events that the NBA has organized are becoming irrelevant when compared to its rivals’. For example, the MLB’s All-Star Game has an impact on post-season results. The MLS’s All-Star game features the league’s best against top European soccer clubs. The NHL’s All-Star Game features a ton of scoring in a sport that typically has low scores. There is no novelty factor for the NBA during its All-Star Weekend. Only the NFL’s Pro Bowl is worse than the NBA’s All-Star Weekend in terms of entertainment value.
