LEADERSHIP and POWER HN 347 PUBLIC PERSONAL ADMINISTRATION The market of professional basketball will never be the same. My case study will be on the all-around basketball player and one of my favorite players Kevin Durant. I am writing about Kevin Durant and his choice to leave the Oklahoma Thunders and team up with the Golden State Warriors. Kevin Durant had been the best player in the franchise history for the Oklahoma Thunder, not to be payed as so. Kevin Durant has never been the highest paid player on his team, but instead lead the team in almost every statistical category. The last season with Oklahoma Thunder Kevin contract was up for negotiations but the team still decided that Kevin would not get paid the salary that he was owed for his talents. This was a mistake and it caused a major issue as Kevin loved playing for his team just like he had done for his entire career, Now Kevin feels that it might be time to take his talents somewhere else. Durant performance would have given him a better pay scale, based on his goals that the team could have set for him along with the objectives that needed to be met. This issue became a bigger problem because his needs were never met. In this case if the team managers and the owners would have taken the rational approach, they might still have Kevin Durant on their team and things would be moving forward. This would allow Mr. Durant to translate his goals and objectives into the playoffs that season and utility. (Denhardt, 2016) the rational model is one that works when both parties are sold on reaching an agreement that benefits everyone
