Most of us are unfamiliar with how to envision our future, poets and dreams think that envisioning future is a land of imaginations territory and only mortals’ visit that land. The future planning is always related to the young, as in what they want to become when grow up? Envisioning is the formation of mental pictures, and visualization of what it will be in the future. Number of people envision their everyday life on multiple occasions, but they are unaware of doing this. Envisioning starts when they carry out an action and visualize something that is related to the action which they are going to perform. This envisioning is a constructive behavior if it is done to improve the life (Webber, 2015). Mankind is working regularly on the future by implementing creativity and bringing new ideas into reality. This constant struggle for a better future is not limited to just develop a better light bulb, but it covers what we want in our future life, and how we will achieve that (Bijker et al., 2012). Before deciding the preliminary future, you have to make some short targets to achieve that prime goal. The problem arises when we try to skip the imaginative engagement with our future and this leads to conflict in our daily life (Norman, 2013). …show more content…

...er for each scenario throughout the book. However, it is not until late in the final section of “Apocalypto” that he offers his solution to the issues that create our present shock. Rushkoff says “the solution, of course, is balance” (Rushkoff 265). He suggests that we, as individuals, find a balance between living our lives truly in the present and our need for technology and media. He describes a pause and un-pause feature in our lives. We need to control our need for technology in order to avoid our technology controlling us. Although the majority of his book describes how we have little control over the developments technology causes in our lives, he believes with moderation we can live in the present both virtually and physically.

Scientists have proven that knowledge and imagination go hand in hand and without imagination, pretend, and fantasy there would be no science or opportunity for change. In the text, Gopnik explains how even babies are capable of With the ability to pretend society can transform the world into endless possibilities and solve real world problems using counterfactual thinking, casual knowledge, and cognitive maps. Counterfactual thinking is part of everyday life because people are always thinking of past and future possibilities that may have happened or might happen. When people imagine the different possibilities it can cause them to feel upset or to have hope, which can motivate them to do or not to do something. Gopnik expresses that although counterfactuals are not reality it still affects all humans, when she states, “counterfactual thinking is pervasive in our everyday life and deeply affects our judgments, our decisions and our emotions” (Gopnik 164).
This book is about the human mind and the abstractness of our visions and memories. Everything affects us physically and mentally. We all share a common feature; we are all simply human with simple human minds.
An occurrence at Owl Creek by Ambrose Bierce shows why the imagination required to vividly daydream is critical in making it through impossible times. Having an imagination may seem childish at first thought, however when faced with incredible obstacles or situations having an imagination is needed. The majority of the human race of course has an imagination; it is the levels and capability of said imagination that differs among us. the only people who are known to have limited to no imagination at all are those who have low levels of openness to experience on the five-factor personality scale of psychology. An analytical and pragmatic mind looks at the situation and sees it as it presents itself, thus staying in the moment. It is the day-dreamers who are able to escape the situation at hand and go
Neither are passionate nor creative in factors such as love, language, history and literature. Our society today, in general, is unsure about the future: The nightmare of total organization has emerged from the safe, remote future and is now awaiting us, just around the next corner. It follows inexorably from having so many people. These quotes represent Watts’ fear for the future; George Orwell and Aldous Huxley both explore the future state of civilization in their novels.
Time sure does fly; in the blink of an eye, yet another 7.5-week class has come and gone. Just like life, it is scary to think that in just a few short years I will be graduating college and be in search of a future career. The magnitudes of readings, assignments, PowerPoint lectures, and videos have all contributed to the valuable knowledge I have gained since taking this course. Nothing that was presented or required was seen as invaluable towards my progression of career development. This career development course has allowed me to do some self-exploration, career research, and help me understand what influencing factors were related to the job market. Ultimately, this class helped me gauge and find a suitable career path, which will forever shape my future.

Good morning, listeners, and thanks for reading. Welcome to the Future Forum. I am Millie Shane. An exciting topic for us to discuss today is the challenges for the future. What concerns could our future generations confront?
We are part of a journey that has been progressing since the beginning of time. However, we as a society always seem to be looking past the present to some climactic end -- the finish line, the future, when in reality, there is no finish line. Society always looks to the future for the answers to today's problems, believing that the future holds something exciting that the present lacks. This is not the way we should be thinking! We should be asking ourselves, "What finish line are we hoping to arrive to?" Or better yet, "Do we want to arrive at a finish line at all?"
The future holds a different meaning for everyone, for some it holds hope while for others it holds despair. This constant wondering about the future has influenced many works to be written about the future. Some of these works propose a blissful future, but the majority paint the picture of an unfortunate dystopian world. Recently I read Daughters of the North, a novel in which the dystopian future of England is shown. Shortly after reading Daughters of the North, I watched The Road. This film showed a similar view of the future, yet more grim and unappealing that Daughters of the North. In this essay I will be comparing and contrasting these two works to show two different points of view of what a dystopian world is. After watching The Road I realised there was a large amount of books and movies that believe the future will be grim. I believe this is because as humans we fear what may be in our future due to the conflicts that we face today and wish to warm the world.
Possible selves represent the future. These boys suffer from a negative self-image and a bleak outlook on their future. Brainstorming about their future selves allows for the boys to get a picture of their hopes and fears about their future. These hope and fears about their future selves are brought to the surface were they can be dealt with. If the boys realistically look at their future and see that there is a hoped for successful future self, this can be used as goal to drive motivation. A motivational link between today and future can formed (in terms of a hoped for self) it can be harnessed to make decisions that can make the future self a reality. The motivational energy can be used for energize and direct actions so that attributes, behaviors, and attitudes can allow the future self to materialize (Reeve, Wiley, 2015).
My personal vision of the future is not something I have taken a significant amount of time to ponder in the past. I have general ideas of where I see myself both personally and professionally in future but have not identified specific steps to get there or pondered why I want to be in that situation. When taking on this somewhat daunting task of identifying my future self it is important to identify my driving values, philosophy, dreams, and my personal calling. Self-reflection on these characteristics and preferences are key to a developing a successful picture of the future.
