The Kansas City Royals are a Major League Baseball team. The Royals are not as old as some of the other major league teams out there. The Royals are young teams that is making things happen in the majors in the past few years but this season is still young so we don’t know as their fan base what to expect from the Kansas City Royals this year. The Royals play in a stadium called Kauffman Stadium. The Royals have won 2 World Series in the franchise history.
The Kansas City Royals came to the City of Kansas City, Missouri in 1969 after the Athletics left Kansas City, Missouri for the City of Oakland in 1967. The team was owned by Ewing M. Kauffman. Major League Baseball was going through an expansion during the late 1960’s wanting to expand

to 24 teams in the league and Kansas City was granted one of the expansion teams during this time. The Royals played it very first game in the Old Municipal Stadium. The first team that the Royals played in the old Municipal Stadium was against the Minnesota Twins but unfortunately the Royals lost the Game in extra inning 3 to 1. The Royals finished their first season with 69 wins and 93 losses but that was the best mark of all the four expansion teams at the time that were debuting in 1969(royals.com). The Royals haven’t been around as long as some other teams but the team does have its legends like George Brett, Dick Howser, Bo Jackson, Ewing M.
Kauffman, Buck O’Neil, and Jackie Robison and so on. The one player you might recognize from the list of people that I named was Jackie Robison I know that he didn’t official play for the royals but he played for another team that was based out of Kansas City during the 1940’s known as the Kansas City Monarchs the Negro league team that played. The named that a lot of Kansas City Royals fans think of is George Brett. George Brett was considered one of the greatest third basemen in the Major League History. George was also 13-time All-Star and he also was the first player in history to win the batting titles in three different decades like 1976, 1980 and 1990. George also led the Royals to their first every World Series in 1985. Another name that might pop out would be Mr. Bo Jackson. Bo joined the Royals one year after the won the World Series in 1985. The year of 1989 Bo Jackson was named the MVP (Most Valuable Player) of the All-Star Game for his outstanding offense and defensive plays. The final big named person from the Kansas City Royals is Buck O’Neil was the first African-American coach to coach in the Majors and also he has seat in Kauffman Stadium for he where he use to recruit players named the Buck O’Neil Seat where anyone in can sit if they are nominated by community for spectacular community …show more content…
Service. The Royals won their first World Series in 1985 and they won their second one 30 years later in 2015.
The Royals beat their in state rivals St. Louis Cardinals in 1985. This World Series was also known as the “Show-Me Series” or the “I-70 Showdown Series”. But after they won their first title the team went into a drought not winning another one until they had a chance to win one in 2014 where they played the San Francisco Giants to a game 7 but came up short but it didn’t take long for the Royals to make it back to the World Series and this time the they sealed the deal with a series sweep of the New York Mets and the Year was 2015 and that was 30 years after they won their first title back in
1985. The Kansas City Royals don’t go far back as the LA Dodgers or the New York Yankees but they are still my favorite team. They are very popular around where I leave and it helps that my dad was a Royals fan and the Royals also drafted a former Husker baseball player Alex Gordon. The team is still playing baseball in Kauffman stadium and also hope this season or the next season and the following season that the Royals keep winning.

As the decade opened up with the year 1950, the Yankees were celebrating an American League Pennant and a World Series victory from the previous year. It was apparent in 1950 that the team had not taken too much time off as the team posted a 98-56 regular season record, winning their second straight Pennant and a trip to the World Series where they would match up against the Philadelphia Phillies. In 1950, the Phillies were known as the Whiz kids because of their youth and amazing talent, but in the series against the Yankees they were swept in 4 games thanks to Joe DiMaggio- a legend in Major League baseball- and Phil Rizzuto- a shortstop who would enjoy one of his most productive seasons as well as the honor of earning American League MVP. Whitey Ford, a rookie pitcher for the Yanks, also enjoyed a stand out career, winning all 9 of his starts and losing only one game in relief. (Baseball History)
The New York Yankees lost to St. Louis in the 1926 World Series and came out in 1927 for revenge. (Geisler, 1) The Yankees opened the season on April 12th with an 8-3 victory over the Philadelphia Athletics and they never looked back. (Frommer, 5) The Yankees never fell out of first place after that first day and finished 19 games ahead of Philadelphia who won 91 games respectively. (New York Yankees, 3) An astonishing feat for today's strategic baseball moves, the '27 Yankees went all year without a single roster move. (Geisler, 1) With a tremendous team built by owner, Jacob Ruppert and General Manager, Ed Barrow, the scene was set for a big year. Certainly meeting the New York standards with a record of 110 wins and 44 losses the Yankees had many indiv...

Baseball is one of the world's greatest sports and is played almost everywhere in the world. It is also one of the most historic games. The main historic part of baseball deals with the ballparks, the cities, and the teams that have been around for such a long time. Then you have the one and only Fenway Park, home of the Boston Red Sox. Fenway Park is the longest standing and is still being used of all the Major League ballparks in the United States. Throughout the 100 years of Fenway Park's existence it has been built, named, burned down, rebuilt, and a whole lot of adding on to the ballpark.
America’s pastime has been complicated in the last couple centuries, and integration has been a big key in the game of baseball. Like most of America in the 1940’s, baseball was segregated, with whites playing in the Major League system and African-Americans playing in the Negro Leagues. There were many factors that made whites and blacks come together, including World War II. Integration caused many downs in the time period, but as baseball grew and grew it was one of the greatest accomplishments in the history. It was hard to find the right black man to start this, they needed a man with baseball abilities and a man who didn’t need to fight back.
There are many great players that played during this era; however, there can only be one great from 1910 to 1920. Many people know the main stars, but there are other great not as well known players from this era too. There are about eight players that totally overpowered all others in the game at this time. Three pitchers and four fielders dominated over all their competitors. These pitching greats are known as Howard “Smokey Joe” Wood, Ed Walsh, and Walter Johnson. The best fielders of the 1910’s are the household greats Honus Wagner, Babe Ruth, “Shoeless Joe” Jackson, and Ty Cobb. These seven players are listed because of their amazing achievements during this decade and even what some did after.

For example, Bill Miller says “ Fenway Park, Boston-1912” (Miller, Chart, 2013). That means that Fenway Park is the oldest ballpark still used today. What comes with baseball stadiums are there dimensions. There are bigger ballparks and smaller ballparks. As well as the ballparks in general ballparks have additional things as well. They have concessions and restaurants. They also have store that you can shop at for that team. For instance, Carly Szkaradnik says “For a good taste of Pittsburgh, stroll down the stretch from the right field gate to home plate for options including iconic Primanti Bros.” (Szkaradnik, Paragraph 5, 2015). With these examples and information about ballparks, people can insist that players and the audience love stadiums because they have the assets that people love.

The Texas Rangers are based in Arlington, Texas and play in the American League West in Major League Baseball. Previously the only way to consume Texas Rangers baseball was to attend the game, watch on television, and to hear it on the radio. If you did not live in the Arlington area, were an out of market fan, and the game was not nationally televised, then the fan is out of luck and cannot watch their favorite team play. With the introduction of the internet and social media a fan can consume sporting events in so many more ways. Texas Rangers fans can consume baseball games on television, through the Texas Rangers team site, and through Twitter.
My grandmother said to me the other day, “They don’t make them like they used to”; she was referring to the 1988 Dodger team, as opposed to the teams of today. I think she has a point to an extent; however, I can see the similarities and the differences in the game of
