Justin Trudeau Is a Good Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has been Canada’s Prime Minister since he was elected in 2015 and I personally, like many others, think he’s a good fit for our country.
The first reason I believe he is a good Prime minister because he offers new perspectives to how we see our country. The second reason is that he often demonstrates how he is a caring person. My last reason is that he believes in equality. You know this because he has a gender equal cabinet. For these reasons I believe Justin Trudeau has been a great Prime Minister in the past three …show more content…
years. My first reason that I believe he is a good Prime Minister, is that he offers new perspectives on things like legalizing marijuana and lowering the tax rate for people who make below a certain amount of money. Legalizing marijuana is incredibly controversial because marijuana is sometimes a drug, but in my opinion, overall, this is a good idea because for many, marijuana is a kind of medicine. 63% of Canadians agree and only 37% of Canadians disagree that legalizing marijuana is a good idea. While some people believe his idea of legalizing marijuana is a bad idea because they worry that marijuana will fall into the hands of minors or addicts easier once it is legalized. But because it will be closely monitored by the government and sold in only LCBO stores, I believe it will be difficult for it to fall into the hands of minors or people who don't need it. Marijuana, or cannabis, in Canada is a drug that often is used by doctors to treat patients with serious diseases like cancer. As a drug it minimizes pain for people with AIDS, cancer, arthritis or other diseases that cause long-term pain that can’t be fixed by other medicines. (IE large amounts of pain). For this reason, I think he has new perspectives on old problems and his new solutions might solve these problems. Justin Trudeau’s new perspective is one of the reasons he is a good Prime Minister. My next reason as to why Justin Trudeau is a good Prime Minister is because he is a caring leader.
Some examples of his caring leadership would be his campaign against violence toward indigenous women, and his trip to the airport to deliver coats for Syrian refugees. Prime Minister Trudeau spoke out about missing indigenous women when other politicians would not. Violence against indigenous women has been a problem for a long time. He promised to recognize all of their rights so this groups is not forced to live in a place without proper schooling and don’t need to worry about their daughters and wives and moms being taken in the night. A second example is when Canada welcomed Syrian refugees. Justin Trudeau went personally to the airport to give families coats and warm wishes when they arrived in Canada during our cold winter. He personally handed out the coats and said “welcome”. He did this out 0f kindness so that these families wouldn’t need to brave the cold without coats and so that they knew they were safe in Canada and welcome here when other countries denied their entry or neglected them. Some say that Trudeau tries too hard and he does this only to get votes. But, would you rather have a Prime minister that doesn’t try at all or tries too hard? Imagine being Prime minister and having blame on you for the past Prime ministers not treating them like humans. I think Justin Trudeau caring is substantially important for Canadian citizens to know that Mr.
Trudeau genuinely cares about our issues and is willing to take time, and fix these issues, like the missing and injured indigenous women. Having a Prime minister who is a leader who shows he cares and shows his support of all Canadians is part of the reason people come to Canada. Furthermore, you he is because he believes in equality. Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is the first ever Prime Minister with a gender equal cabinet. He said he made the cabinet equal because “It’s 2015”. The cabinet is 50% male and 50% female and also has diversity. Prime Minister Trudeau said he made sure his cabinet had people with diverse backgrounds so that his cabinet would “look like Canada”. Prime Minister Trudeau has often said that he thinks “Canada’s diversity is our strength.” I think that having this diverse representation is very beneficial for the youth in Canada. Boys and girls can look at the cabinet and see people who look like them and feel like they can be anything they want to be. Although some say that Trudeau did not properly screen these cabinet members and simply chose them for their representation, I do not agree. I believe Justin Trudeau chose the members of his cabinet wisely to avoid incompetence. For example he chose a military veteran to be the Minister of Defence and a doctor to be the Minister of Health. Also, our Minister of Immigration is an immigrant. I strongly believe that an immigrant, who came to Canada and has a regular job in politics is eligible to be head of immigration and makes a good minister of immigration because he understands what it is like to be an immigrant. Recognition of Equality is an amazing reason as to why he’s a good Prime Minister because everyone wants and deserves to be treated with respect and equality. In conclusion, having new perspectives, with the legalization of marijuana as well as demonstrating a caring personality by supporting indigenous rights and greeting our new refugees at the airport. As well as supporting equality with having a gender neutral cabinet and some diversity throughout the cabinet. Therefore, new perspectives, caring personality, and being equal, make him a good Prime Minister. The article was written a couple years before Justin Trudeau became Prime Minister. The Author focuses on Justin’s liberal attitudes, especially regarding a hot topic such as the legalization of marijuana. He comes across as a “hero for the people” type of politician. The author of the article skims over a variety of topics concerning what Justin spoke of in Calgary. It is a very short story, but I think that the writer got his point across on the subject of Trudeau’s progressive views, mainly when it comes to marijuana.
Don Cherry's best quality is the fact that he has the ability to say what he thinks, and say what he believes. For example, during the last Winter Olympics in Nagano, Premier Bouchard of Quebec complained that the Jean Luc Brossard carried a Canadian flag instead of a Quebec flag.
The years following the Second World War were bleak in regards to Canada's future as a country, with the public and politicians alike set against each other, but soon a Québec man by the name of René Lévesque entered journalism, and then politics, voicing his views for all to hear, with great success and vigour. Though obstacles presented themselves often in his life, he changed the views of Québec, Canada and the world as a whole. René Lévesque was a passionate and charismatic politician who greatly contributed to post-war Québec and even today through his beliefs in separatism, founding the Parti Québecois and passing Bill 101.
...ich are educated in and more. He set out the rights that Manitobans deserve. He got us into the country we call our own and finally, he gave us a hero, an icon, a leader to admire and look up to. It is clear that he changed Manitoba forever and without him who knows where we might be.
In conclusion, Pearson strengthened Canadian nationalism, promoted equality that is now an integral part to the Canadian identity, and he introduced several important social programs that continue to support Canadians. The ongoing benefits to Canadians from his contributions make him the most significant post WWII Prime Minister of Canada. Without the leadership of this influential Canadian, Canada would not be as strong a nation as it is today.
even his opponents admitted "there does not exist in Canada a man who has given
...n of their cabinet, while others may choose to create a new political path without consulting the views of their party. Mellon thinks that the Canadian government is under dictatorial scrutiny, whereas Barker contradicts this belief. The idea of a prime-ministerial government is certainly an over exaggeration of the current state of Canada. There are too many outside and inside forces that can control the powers the Prime Minister of Canada. Furthermore, there are several outside sources that indicate a good government in Canada. The United Nations annually places Canada at the top, or near the top of the list of the world’s best countries in which to live. These outcomes are not consistent with the idea of a one ruler power. Canada is not ruled by one person’s ideas, suggestions, and decisions, but by government approved and provincially manipulated decisions.
Pierre Trudeau is the greatest Canadian of the twentieth century due to the fact that he declared Canada’s independence from Great Britain, he abolished the death penalty, and he created the Official Languages Act, making our nation entirely bilingual.
If I were the prime minister of Canada, I would strive to accomplish and strengthen three major things. First, I would make sure that our educational system maintains strong and will make others succeed in life, second, I would make sure that everyone has equal and fair treatment in our society, and lastly, I would make sure every Canadian family can live happily by reducing tax.

Sir John A. Macdonald was one of Canada's founding fathers. He is most remembered as being Canada's first Prime Minister, running the government from July 1, 1867 until November 5, 1873. Macdonald would become Prime Minister once again on October 17, 1878 and would stay in this position until June 6,1891. While he was leader of the country he faced his own share of political obstacles, including Confederation, the Metis rebellion and threats of an American he is among the greatest leaders Canada has ever seen and played a significant part in the forming of Canada as a country.
Canada is a fair and Open society in which any talented person can succeed, Canada’s cultural Values seem to be open towards women and other traditionally under represented group entering politics but this still dwells on the traditional role of what constitute a good leadership style (Bashevkin S, Pg.22). In an open system like Canada, inequalities are common and measured in three dist...
This essay has argued that there are many limitations that the Prime Minister is subjected too. The three most important are federalism in Canadian society, the role of the Governor General, and the charter of rights and freedoms. I used two different views of federalism and illustrated how both of them put boundaries on the Prime Minister’s power. Next I explain the powers of the governor general, and explained the ability to dissolve parliament in greater detail. Last I analyzed how the charter of rights of freedoms has limited the Prime Minister’s power with respect to policy-making, interests groups and the courts. The Prime Minister does not have absolute power in Canadian society, there are many infringements on the power that they have to respect.

We also have the longest expected education according to the UN’s stats. These are just a few reasons why Canada is the greatest country.
