Just Go for It As Beverly Sills once said, “You may be disappointed if you fail, but you are doomed if you don’t try.” Many people in modern day society are way too concerned with social status and reputation. As a result, these people are afraid to strive and reach for their goals because they do not want to be associated with failure and the negative connotations that it brings. However, those in society who do strive to be something great and are not afraid to fail are often the ones who enjoy life the most and reap its benefits. In order to accomplish lofty life goals and avoid total disappointment, one must give effort in everything he/she does so that there is never any doubt that he/she has lived life to the fullest. At the end of
If someone wants to succeed in life and stay recognized by superiors, then he or she ought to appear hardworking. A person begins with setting goals. There are two categories, the first, “be” goals and the second, “do” goals. In other words, ask yourself, "What to be?" or "What to achieve?" Four categories of goals consist of wealth, health, relationships, and self-fulfillment which equal success. Working diligently to finish a task demonstrates how to live a successful life. Given these points, Thomas Edison, Helen Keller and Harriet Tubman, all exceptional achievers, found that prosperity undoubtedly comes along for everyone who perseveres.
David Mamet once stated, “..it is the human lot to try and fail..” This quotation implies that an individual will attempt to achieve success throughout their lifetime, but he/she will also have to face the failures as well. The quote relates to the philosophy that in order to achieve something, one will have to work for it. This quotation is correct and is further supported by two literary works. The two novels are Of Mice and Men by John Steinbeck and The Pearl, also by John Steinbeck. In these two novels, the protagonists know that their goals are very farfetched and out of the norm, yet they both try to achieve it and ultimately fail.
Every day in our lives, we desire to be perfect to please others. No matter how hard we try, if we do not achieve the concept of being perfect, then we will feel like failure. For example, every year at the Olympics, a newly crowned Olympic champion receiving a gold medal persuades young athletes to worry about winning a medal in every competition they compete. If they do not win a medal in a certain competition, then all their hopes are vanished for the next competition. This action shows how if we do not strive to emulate other people’s achievements, then we will not stand out from the rest of our population.
Most people throughout the world strive for success in each task they take on, and along with this, many reasons contribute to why they succeed or not. If a person does not succeed, they may automatically blame themselves because of their level of strength. Others may blame themselves for not having enough knowledge about what they are trying to succeed at. The real reason that people may not succeed, however, is their lack of determination and happiness throughout his/her journey that is demonstrated in the book Outliers: The Story of Success by Malcolm Gladwell.
Introduction- In order to succeed in life, you have to be open to trying new experiences, even if you know you might fail. If you do fail, you have to persevere and try again if you want to reach your goal. To become better than you are, you must be exposed to new ideas and moments of failure and doubt.
In When Success Leads to Failure, Jessica Lahey is faced with a tough situation involving a student, whose love for learning is fading, and a parent who does not seem to understand why. Lahey establishes that parents are starting to teach children to fear failure, and the fear is what is destroying their love for learning (Lahey). I support Lahey’s proposition that kids are beginning to hate learning because children are taught that failure is not an option. In today’s society, many teachers and especially parents push children to only strive for success and to fear failure, which results in many children’s growing hatred for learning.
In the essay "The right to fail" by William Zinsser he says “ Don't be afraid to fail!” (Zinsser 81-83) failure isn't fatal.Countless people have had a bout with it and come out stronger as a result." Failure can be used as a tool of success because you can learn from your mistakes. Willam defines success differently than the average norm. He believes the younger generation are starting to define there own meaning of success. The dropouts and the hippies just don't buy the old standard of success and neither do I. I think that within your mistakes there is always a chance to get better. In my life there's been times I have messed up but I learned from it like when I came in dead last in a 100 meter dash. I was devastated and quite embarrassed but I didn't let it knock me down and I trained much harder and guess what? I came in second next race. No not first, but I'll get there because my failure became my
"In Order to Succeed, Your Desire for Success Should Be Greater than Your Fear of Failure. | Philosiblog." Philosiblog. 24 Feb. 2012. Web. 23 Mar. 2014. .
It was a cold, dark morning when the phone rang. It was boisterously loud and the clock read six o'clock. The deafening noise jolted us again, and there was only one way to make it stop. Chris picked up the phone and in a tired, drowsy voice, answered, "Hello."
Failure is apart of life, it can make or break a person. When a person experiences a type of failure it is now up to them to see how they respond. They can choose the high road, and become a stronger person for it. Then they can choose the low road, the easy way out. The easy way out is never a good choice. It can lead only to destruction. The high road is the right choice to take when responding to failure. It will lead down a path of success. Jessica Lahey’s article, “When Success Leads to Failure” is an article that shows how kids are experiencing failure. Lahey says that, “these kids have a fear for failure, and that they have given up natural loves for learning. They are scared of not being successful”(Lahey). The truth is life is hard there will be failure. There is nothing in this world that comes easy to anyone.
Failure is not merely the reciprocal of success; moreover, it is the shadow of success waiting for the correct path of light to grow and unveil itself. Instead of being melancholy about failing, we should take our failure as an advantage to do the correct thing and succeed. After all, as said by Ellen Degeneres, “It’s failure that gives you the proper perspective on success.” I, along with the billions of other people on this planet, have failed many times in life. However, there are certain failures that can teach us a value so powerful that it can outpower the most preached teachings or morals.
People usually afraid of failure because they tried to do something and failed, or took a risk and it didn’t pay off, or made a decision and it turned out to be the wrong one. That fear of failure create the stress and anxiety when people want to do something hard or try something new. Just because you tried something two or three time and failing does not mean the entire idea is a mistake. Do you expect to get a Blackjack on every game that you played? That would be an impossible thing to do. There is no success that comes without failure, where failure is experiences and lessons that help you to perfect your works. People should overcome their fear of failure and use failure as a tool to work toward their success because failing is so important
Success is something everyone wants, but the route to success isn’t always accessible. I want to make over hundred grand a year if not more, own the house of my dreams, having all the cars I always wanted and travel to unusual places every chance I get. Living such lifestyles requires a successful career, behind that successfully career requires a higher level of education. So here I am, in college starting to climb that ladder directed to success. But before I take that initial climb, I consider the enduring road ahead of me, the road that still behind me and everything in between. Feeling the pressure to excel in my academics in order to achieve the success I desire and not willingly exhaust my time and money being invested in my college
This was the lesson I learnt from my father, an unceasing learner and a person who would never give up no matter how many and how difficult the obstacles may be. Having understood from him that success is a moving target, the years of my life with my family have inculcated in me a desire to achieve perfection.
Failure is something in life that everyone is afraid of. Failure is apart of everyone’s life at some point whether it’s in a sport, at school, or even just a part of daily life. Failure can be in taken in two ways, one; you can take the failure in as a challenge and push to strive better and never want to fail again, or two; take failure in bad and not want to try harder and just give up without after failing once. Some of the richest or even successful people in life have had failures. The famous basketball player Michael Jordan, when he was a sophomore he tried out for the varsity basketball team and didn’t make it. But if it wasn’t for that failure in his life he would of have never tried his hardest to end up becoming one of the best NBA players in history and have one of the most successful shoe brands. That’s just one of the many successful people who had failures in life.
