In this case, it was Judge Zamboni's words that scorched Ava's ears – “And you, madam...you cannot commit felonies and expect reimbursement from the courts...”
Why had she let that good-for-nothing drug addict, Gerald Lee Hooker, talk her into attempting fraud on the jalapenos? Thirty-five hundred dollars! That's how much the stupid sob. had written as a demand, sending a letter to them claiming legal fees with her name attached. Although he was no God damned attorney, at all. What the heck had he been thinking?
Hence, she was involved in another court hearing, in a series of court cases, all revolving around one agenda -- Ava's long-standing feud with the Morales couple.
Just a few months earlier, the Morales couple had treated

Javier grabbed him by the shirt collar and marched him to the door. He tossed him out of their home and slammed the door. Just as Hooker nearly tripped onto the ground. And Hooker had never forgotten that evening!
When the Morales couple filed the case against Ava for harassment and slander, he learned Ava hadn't bothered to file a response. The couple won by default. So, the day before the judgment became final, Hooker--using his lengthy experience of filing bogus legal complaints -- filed a motion to have the Morales judgment set aside. Alleging falsely, that Ava had not been served properly. Next, he filed an application for a restraining order, on behalf of Ava, and showed up in court representing himself as a mental health counselor and witness for the lying Hungarian woman. The battle was on.
Like many courthouses in the country, this courtroom was one of those dark, walnut-paneled rooms, with wooden benches like church pews, for litigants. Judge Zamboni's bench was angled into the corner of the courtroom, and set up so high that if clouds had formed and rays of light had shown down, she could have been God. Especially, with her magisterial
Edwin ended up entering a murder scene, he panicked and instead of calling the cops first, he ended up calling Alex. Edwin ended up dragging Alex ...
The judge sits up and behind him the full width of the wall is filled with a magnificent painting. It is a painting of angels with harsh faces and flaming swords, guarding the tablets upon which the Ten Commandments are inscribed. Guarding them against the approach of a man in a business suit and black gown, trying to read something clever out of a black book. At the other end of the room was a crowd of people waiting up eagerly in anticipation for the trial of Eugene Debs. Judge David Westenhaver was a magisterial looking man with a taut facial expression. His words came off kindly but with a revealing tone—he was not so magisterial as he appeared.
The next morning, Maggie filed a police report about seeing the young boy in their house the previous night prior to her husband’s death. The police went to the Wilson’s house to investigate, but the boy was gone and there was no sign of any unusual activity. The three of them went back to their home where they mourned the loss of their dad and husband. The next night went smooth, they all stayed in the guest bedroom, avoiding the room where they had seen the young boy, and the room where Joe died. Two days later, at Joe’s funeral, Reagan spotted a young boy that looked like the boy she saw floating into her room that dreadful night. Reagan rushed over to her mom and Chandler to tell them what she saw. The night of the funeral, thunderstorms moved in and a big gust of wind blew a tree limb down onto the power lines adjacent to their house. This caused a power outage in the middle of the night followed by a loud lightning strike, which woke Maggie up. Suddenly an image appeared to be floating toward her. The shadow immediately made her think of the young boy they saw the other day. Before Maggie could call the police, the young boy strangled her to death. Her screams woke Reagan and Chandler up. They hid under the covers crying and hoping the young demon boy would go away. However,
The Judge is a seven foot tall man who is bald all over his body. He is an instigator and he is successful at this because of how persuasive he is. When the reader meets the Judge he convinces the church crowd that their
Moreover, Maria’s courageous behavior is shown when she met the drug traffickers and asked for her money as well as Lucy’s. Maria and Blanca were kicked out after Lucy’s sister found out that Lucy was already dead while she was working as a drug mule. Blanca and Maria who lost their place to stay eventually made an agreement to return the drugs to the drug traffickers and receive their money. It was very dangerous for them to meet them again because they threatened two girls frightfully. The scene where they meet again shows how much dangerous it was. The drug traffickers offensively attacked two girls. One guy pushed Maria to the wall and yelled and the other guy grabbed Blanca’s hair and threatened to take the drugs back. The traffickers
The courtroom is a place where cases are heard and deliberated as evidence is produced to prove whether the accused person is innocent or guilty. Different courtroom varies depending on the hierarchy and the type of cases, they deliberate upon in the courtroom. In the United States, the courts are closely interlinked through a hierarchical system at either the state or the federal level. Therefore, the court must have jurisdiction before it takes upon a case, deliberate, and come up with a judgment on it. The criminal case is different from the civil cases, especially when it comes to the court layout. In this essay, I will explain how I experienced a courtroom visit and the important issues are learnt from the visit.
n chapter 8, the nursers finally gave in and let me and Two-Bit see Johnny, but right in the middle of our conversation Johnny suddenly passed out and the nursers rushed in and kicked me out. Johnny’s mother came by as well but of course after all that she has put him through he refused to see her. After me and Two-Bit had to leave Johnny we went to see Dallas . He was really excited to see us and told us how he wanted to get out and how the nursers wouldn’t let him smoke a cigarette . Dallas also gave us a talk on how we need to win the rumble tonight and Two-Bit also gave Dallas his prized possession : his switchblade . We caught the bus home and on our way home I got a really sick feeling in my stomach, I was getting like Cherry , i didn’t

Tom Ross had no idea that his wife was withholding secrets, and this entire episode had been choreographed by the very man he'd identified as a serial-rapist and murderer, who now sat on a hilltop three hundred feet away, watching the performance and snapping pictures. Further material to use against Lila, or Tom for that matter. The stalker had chuckled aloud as he'd contemplated the idea of emailing the images to the authorities and having the Detective himself accused of rape. For wasn't that what he was doing to his wife?
“Then I heard Veronica’s scream coming from her room. I am not a-hundred percent sure how it happened, but I think ‘cause I wanted to git in her room, and the door was locked, my arm went through it.”
“What?” I thought. A bit irritated, I turned to look. And there was my defendant, his shirt in flames, the fire crawling up...
Symbols play a role in demonstrating the lack of balance within Kafka’s system. Josef K meets with Titorelli, the painter who holds strong influence, and Titorelli remarks that, “Justice needs to remain still, otherwise the scales will move about and it won’t be possible to make a just verdict” (187). This statement refers to the symbolic scales of justice within a painting and further demonstrates the unjust nature of the court. Justice cannot be a still concept, it must evolve and take into account the specific time and space it exists within. In modern legal systems create this through the usage of mitigating factors, jury trials, and the leniency judges are afforded. However, Kafka’s system is intended to be the opposite, a man made creation of total justice that is beyond the reach of the accused. Such a court system is perverse in interpretation of the law and unjust. Moreover, symbols build on the strength of the court and the totality of power judges are afforded. In discussing another painting Josef asks, “‘That is a judge sitting on a judge’s chair isn’t it?’ ‘Yes, but that judge isn’t very high up and he’s never sat on any throne like that, he’s sitting like the president of the court’” (187). Judges within the court system depict themselves as entitled and powerful. When coupled with a lack of public oversight, the totality of
Cassie went to bed, but she couldn’t fall asleep. She wanted badly to know what Ralph was going to tell her at that awkward serious moment. She finally came up with a conclusion, but not of what he was saying. She got up, out of bed, and grabbed her phone. She sent a text to her best friend, Raquel. She texted: Hey, Raq! Cassie waited a while, but there was no response to her text. Disappointed, she went back to bed.
As I walked along the narrow hallways I found that there were guards standing at each entrance and exit of the courtrooms, which gave me a since of safety while I was there. As I entered the court I found some familiar faces and others, who like I, were experiencing court for the very first time in my life. The honorable Judge George A. Bailey was presiding over the cases. Seated beside judge Bailey was Hilda Thomas, the City Magistrate. Court had approximately 35 individuals in attendance.
Cassandra turned around and ran to the door, but Tommy wasn’t ready to give up on his friend yet. He got to his feet and grabbed tightly around the crowbar that Landon had passed him just a few moments ago. He walked one step at a time towards the coffin to get Landon, it had no effect… with the same ease and grace as before one of the silhouettes shoved him back while dodging all of his uncontrolled swings with the crowbar. Cassandra shouted at him to come back and just get out of there, after another failed attempt he realized he had no choice but to run and find help elsewhere.
