The ways in which Bridesmaids rejects patriarchal structures while simultaneously supporting them establishes a unique ideology: in order to meet the cultural comedic conception, these female characters reject particular standards of patriarchy, but the ways in which they do so successfully are due to their adherence to masculine norms and symbolic reversal (Buckley 19). Thus, Bridesmaids resists the male gaze and gives women empowerment to take the an active role in comedy, liberating them in the sense that it equates their humor to that of men’s, to embody new forms of feminine desire for women in cinema. In response to the men at the beginning of this essay who would say Bridesmaids doesn’t deliver this, Tina Fey has some words for them, “We don’t fucking care if you like it” (Moss).
The story of Delta Wedding, by Eudora Welty, begins with Laura McRaven travelling to visit her extended family, the Fairchilds, at their plantation in the Mississippi Delta. There she experiences the turmoil surrounding her departed mother’s family: the uproar of the oncoming wedding, the tension between her aunts, and the difficulties one must face in becoming a Fairchild. Despite Laura playing the main role of the novel, Welty uses her minor character Robbie Reid to explore the compact Southern family and the polarity between precedent archetypes and the liberal woman of the 1920s.
The movie also switches stuff up, because in the book the first sense or diary they got chase after they got off the bus from school, which in the movie they got chased walking on their way to school. Hilary Swank play Erin like if she was actually her, like if she knew her life story and what she had been through. In the movie she lost her husband for wanting to let go of the kids, and in the book it never states she has a

Modernized views of marital roles have led many to believe that married couples who equally split household responsibilities are happier and more content, but research shows otherwise. Statistically, traditional marriages are less likely to end in divorce and actually show more contentment. A traditional marriage can be characterized as when a couple takes on specific gender roles that currently many people believe are outdated. The traditional role for the husband would include taking care of the financial aspect of the house and doing chores that are viewed as masculine such as yard work, car repairs, and paying the bills. The wife 's responsibilities would entail taking care of the home, raising the children, and chores that are viewed

The next style element that Carver portrays many times in his writing is dialogue, which he uses to develop the characters in the story. There are two ways Carver instills the use of dialogue in his story “The Student’s Wife.” Nan says, “Please, God, let me sleep” (“The Student’s Wife” 201). Nan is not actually talking here, but the dialogue is in her thoughts. This type of dialogue says that Nan is a holy person because she is having some problems, but instead of talking with others she is talking to God. Nan questions, “God, will you help us, god?” (“The Student’s Wife” 202). Right here Nan is not talking in her thoughts, but aloud to herself. Again, the reader can tell that Nan is a holy person by the way she is talking, but she is also
It was a beautiful Saturday morning on January 6. The winter air was crisp and the view was amazing. The soft salty scent from the ocean filled the air. Off the balcony on the second story of the Long Beach Yacht Club I could see the light swells of the Pacific Ocean. The small crashing of waves added to the peaceful instrumental background sounds as the ceremony was about to begin. January 6, my wedding date, was a day that changed the rest of my life.
Marriage a la Mode, by John Dryden, is an ode to the concept of marriage and love within the period of Restoration England. Dryden, presumably, presents two pairs of couples, Rhodophil and Doralice, as well as Melantha and Palamede, in a way that expresses an imperative tone towards marital relations. Throughout the playwright, he uses these couples and their mistresses to allocate the issue of broken, miserable, thorny marriages. Although marriage was common, there was a strong presence of moral emancipation, which Dryden presents through these relationships. These themes of dissatisfaction and obligation towards the concept of marriage are noted throughout the playwright, as Dryden uncovers how each character feels.
Today in society there are many young people that are in relationships and often times they want to engage in marriage. In this case with Sarah and Dave, the outcome of that might not look so good between the couple because I believe that they won’t make it. Today, I’ll be discussing in my opinion that they couple aren’t right for each other for marriage and they are not they’re right for each other for long term. According to this passage, when things are tough, Dave tends to turn his stress on Sarah and become critical whereas Sarah tends to withdraw and avoid. In that scenario I would assume that Dave would take his anger out on Sarah and could be abusive verbally and or physically and Sarah would just turn away and do nothing about it.
