Joseph Haydn’s historic role helped perfect the new instrumental music of the late eighteenth century. In his late symphonies he expanded the size of his orchestra’s. Hayden also put greater emphasis on the brass and the clarinet, which was new to the orchestra. Haydn is an Austrian composer who worked under patronage of the Esterházy court. Haydn composed over a hundred symphonies through his entire career. He is especially popular for the twelve symphonies in 1790s in England. Known as the London Symphonies or Salomon Symphonies. Haydn’s symphonies and his quartets are the spiritual birthplace of Beethoven’s style. His best-known symphonies is number sixty nine (Surprise) in G major; which one of his twelve works composed for his concert
in London. The orchestra presented these compositions consisted of about forty members. Surprise opens with a reflective slow introduction followed by a forceful Vivace assai in sonata allegro form. Surprise was authorized for production in a London concert series; its second movement is a theme and variations based on a simple though notable theme. Haydn also composed church music. His church music included some sixty-eight string quartets, piano trios, and divertimentos. His fourteen masses form the core of his output in this repertory. The Creation one of his oratorios is based on the biblical book of Genesis and the poem Paradise written by John Milton. He also based another work that is based on English literature called the Seasons. Haydn is famous for his expertise in the development of Classical instrumental music, especially the symphony and the string quartet.

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, also known as W.A. Mozart, was a very well-known composer of the Classical Period as well as still to this day. He set the standards high for all composers following in his footsteps.

This concert will begin with the Renaissance Era and continue through time until we have reached modern instrumental music.
Franz Josef Haydn wrote quite a few concerti for piano, which have never really enjoyed the popularity of such pieces by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. While some accuse Haydn`s piano concerti of being too 'light' or having 'no meaning', I find those to be inaccurate surface impressions. I have found a great deal of enjoyment from these pieces of Haydn, and one of my favourites of his piano concerti is the seventh.
Ludwig Van Beethoven was regarded as one of the greatest musical composers of the 19th century. Beethoven’s compositions are considered to be a watershed moment in western musical history. According to scholar Scott G. Burnham, “The overmastering coherence felt in Beethoven’s music became an imposing measure of the greatness of musical artworks.” Part of Beethoven’s greatness can be linked to the inner turmoil he dealt with throughout his life. Part of this turmoil was caused from his hearing disability which ultimately resulted in his deafness. Beethoven felt isolated due to his illness, but this isolation greatly affected the music he composed. The Fifth Symphony was a testament to that. Out of Beethoven’s nine different symphonies, the Fifth symphony is regarded as one of his greatest compositions. The Fifth Symphony is a total of 4 movements, and has a four-note opening motif in C- minor which is considered to be fate knocking at the door.

XVI:52)) and the first and last piano sonatas of Beethoven (Piano Sonata No. 1 in F minor Op. 2, No.1, Piano Sonata No. 32 in C minor Op. 111), this essay will study the development of Beethoven’s composition style and how this conformed or didn’t conform to the Classical style. The concepts of pitch and expressive techniques will be focused on, with a broader breakdown on how these two concepts affect many of the other concepts of music. To make things simpler, this essay will analyse only the first movements of each of the sonatas mentioned.
