I Survived the Joplin Tornado I have chosen the scene when the tornado actually hits during this scene there are two main characters Dexter and famous storm chaser Dr. Norman Gage. Dexter is eleven years old and loves to study the weather he says when he grows up he wants to be a storm chaser just like Dr. Norman Gage. The other main character is Dr. Norman Gage he has his own T.V. series showing him chase storms but in the scene he makes a terrible mistake of getting out of his car and trying to get some good footage of the tornado and gets swept away. Dexter’s mom and dad allowed him to go storm chasing while they left the town.
I choose this scene because of the high tensions it has I also choose it because it is the climax my favorite
The history-making documentary footage made available by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer has been subjected to careful analysis. As noted by Grazulis (1993; pp. 879-880), the tornado in question was part of an outbreak in Kansas on that day, including a violent killer tornado near Clyde, Kansas, and a "barn shifting" F1 tornado in Rooks county. It seems that shifting human structures was a common feature of tornadoes on that
Opening scene - The opening scene is significant because it establishes the tension between Nora and Torvald.
The first person the story talks about in the story is Dorothy. She’s a girl that comes form Kansas and was carried by a tornado. In the story when the reader first meet Dorothy he finds out that she is very curios, and straight forward. Dorothy in the story represents the average farmers in Kansas. On the other hand the tornado represents the change that has come up on farmers “ The Industrial Age.” Therefore the story creates a comparison between Dorothy and her new challenge getting back home and the farmer’s industrialization problem and fall of crop prices.
On May 22nd, 2011 a massive tornado hit Joplin, Missouri killing 162 people and injuring 1150. With wind speeds of 322km/h, the tornado made a total cost of over $2 billion for the city. 8000 structures were destroyed, 2000 of which were homes. Many people were left homeless. The tornado held an incredible EF5 rating on the Fujita scale, measured from the amount of destruction. The tragic event lasted 38 minutes, from 5:34 pm to 6:12pm. Cool wind from the Rockies in Canada and warm wind from the gulf of Mexico formed into a supercell thunderstorm creating a tornado in Kansas. The tornado rapidly moved into Joplin and continued on its 35 km path.
A tornado struck Joplin, Missouri on May 22, 2011 at around 5:40 pm. With a population around 50,559, it killed 161 people and injured approximately 1,100 people. The cost was an estimated $2.8 billion in damage. The American taxpayers had to give about $500 million in recovery money. This made it the deadliest tornado since 1950, which was when modern recordkeeping began. Since it was an EF5 tornado, it destroyed everything in its path. The city was ruined with only piles of debris left. It was a half-mile wide when it hit Joplin and grew to three-quarters of a mile wide. It destroyed nearly 7,000 homes in Joplin and damaged hundreds more. It covered over 1,800 acres of land. The warnings that the Joplin residents received were through three different ways. The tornado warning that was sent out for Joplin’s county was from Jasper County Emergency Operations Center (JCEOC) and they claim that the first siren went off at 5:11 pm. Two other warnings for the Joplin residents was they saw the tornado heading their direction, and the media coverage which was all local electronic media switched to wall-to-wall coverage seeing live footage of the tornado.
In my opinion about the two scenes. The first one has an effective scene it shows us a drama scene and a father who is upset about his son and how he is reaction go. The second scene was ineffective because he makes the scene not serious like at the beginning of the scene his facial expression and his movements were relaxing. Moreover, there is a specific moment that effective me and it is when James get angry and he said: “Come here boy when I talked to you”. He was angry when he says it and with his expression we can know that how the father is serious. Also, it shows like he had a hard life and he forget how his son needs love.
The scene that engaged me the most was by far was the apparition scene in the beginning of the play. This is because it displayed amazing effect and a great background of a foggy and mysterious forest that matched and complimented the spookiness and earieness of the scene beautifully. In addition to the background and the scenery the sound effects such as the dimension they added flowed perfectly with the generally “scary” atmosphere of the scene. Also, I found this scene the most intriguing because of the importance of what is said. This scene reveals the plot and the premise for the play of a the wandering spirit of the King who enlist his son to seek revenge on he who killed
The progression of visual effects, the talents of Arnold Gillespie, and the use of then-modern technology made many of the effects possible. The tornado featured early in the film was not a weather phenomena filmed on location, but the result of careful construction. Originally a thirty five foot piece of rubber, the tornado proved challenging because of the weight, and it ate up eight thousand dollars of the film’s budget. As the team experimented with several other lightweight materials, they came up with a muslin cloth that would be hoisted from a crane and aggressively shaken around. It ended up costing the production twelve grand, and still remains one of the most creative workarounds in film
In my opinion Act 1 Scene 1 is the most important scene of the play
In my opinion this is one of the most important scenes in the play because this is where Romeo and Juliet and begin a relationship together. I liked the end of the scene the most because this where Romeo and Juliet find out they are enemies. Shakespeare’s use of dramatic irony in that section creates drama because it makes the reader/audience want to know what will happen next and how Romeo and Juliet will react to this news. ‘My only love sprung from my only hate’, ‘Is she a Cap...
The Wizard of Oz follows the young Dorothy Gale running away from home, she decides to return thanks to a man (Professor Marvel) who tells her to go back home. On her way home a tornado is ripping
Tornadoes are one of the deadliest and most unpredictable villains mankind will ever face. There is no rhyme or reason, no rhythm to it’s madness. Tornados are one of the most terrifying natural events that occur, destroying homes and ending lives every year. April 29th, 1995, a calm, muggy, spring night I may never forget. Jason, a buddy I grew up with, just agreed to travel across state with me so we could visit a friend in Lubbock. Jason and I were admiring the beautiful blue bonnets, which traveled for miles like little blue birds flying close to the ground. The warm breeze brushed across the tips of the blue bonnets and allowed them to dance under the perfectly clear blue sky. In the distance, however, we could see darkness. A rumbling sky was quickly approaching.
Water proof of token of choice to represent some type of anger management meaning to the client.
Arguably, the most important scene of the play is when we meet Rita for the first time. This is in the opening act of the play.
Thesis: In order to better understand tornadoes, it is important to explore what causes tornadoes to develop, how researchers classify types of tornadoes, and odd occurrences that may be associated with tornadoes.
