The difference between Americans today and way back when is very different. Johnny Cash and Luke Bryan are both very great men that achieved great things. They are very similar but are also very different. From the 1920s to now, country music has changed drastically from singing about love to having fun and partying, and this shows how different things were important as a whole.
Johnny’s life hasn’t been the easiest to get through. Raised in Kingsland, Arkansas in a small town of Dyess. In his Encyclopedia article about Cash’s life and career, Mcleod explains that his upbringing was in a bible-belt town that published Sunday School Attendance Figures in the weekly newspaper. He was born on February 26,1932 (Bill Miller). While he was a teenager he worked on his family farm and he despised it very much (Kembrew, McLeod). Being born one of seven children, he always had someone to hangout with. During the mid sixties, Johnny became very addicted to drugs, and alcohol. When he got drunk he had a tendency to like to start arguments and to try and fight people. As the author, Bill Miller states, Cash’s reason for his behavior was that he had to keep up with the “hectic world”. The life he lived was definitely was not the easiest but he tried to make the best of it.
On the other hand, Luke Bryan had a pretty great life growing up as a child. Thomas Luther Bryan was born on July 17, 1976 (Student Resources). Everyone calls him Luke because that’s what he has preferred since he was a little boy. Luke was into country music ever since he was born. Tons of memories he made with his family, like sitting in a truck singing country music at the top of their lungs. As he grew up and got older he started to play in front of people and start...

After he burnt his hand Johnny got kicked out of the Lapham's house. At first glance, the accident looked like it was going to ruin his life but it in fact, made it better. The incident made him get a job with the Lornes, it involved him in the Revolutionary War, and he met good friends (just to name a few). Although his injury to his hand greatly affected Johnny's life other events also helped Johnny through with his transformation. Distributing newspapers for the Lornes was a big event that changed his life.

Times have changed, and along with the times so has country music. American country music lovers have went from Loretta Lynn and Waylon Jennings, just two of the many classic oldies, to Carrie Underwood and Luke Bryan, two very appealing country music artists. However, it is not only the tune of the music that has changed, it is the image, the appeal, and overall the type of icons the media is portraying these modern music stars as. Icons such as Lynn and Jennings had identifiable features within their music as well as their appearance that spoke sweet southern belle and rugged twang. Whereas Underwood’s and Bryan’s appeal now is much more sexualized than it was during the oldies. These changes affect the way modern day singers are marketed compared to former country music stars, instead of focusing on talent it is now looks.

Just as Johnny’s courage shines through so does his fast maturity from child to adult. His childhood was stolen away from him by his illness but instead of sulking he pulls himself together. He takes every difficulty in stride, and gets through them. Even when he is feeling down he hides it for he does not want anyone else to feel his pain. Being a seventeen year old boy he wants to do the things all other seventeen year old boys do.
Right away when he got to Nashville he got a contract from a publishing house. Bryan performed at night in different clubs for a while. In the summer of 2007 his first major record came out (biography.com editors). After his first major record came out his sister died of unknown causes while she was home with her three year old child at the time. With Kelly’s ( Luke Bryan sister) death no one could figure out why she dead. They called it a abnormally tragic death because that was that best they could call it. Bryan was only in Nashville for six years when his sister died (Finan, Eileen). A few months later he gave the song Good Directions to an artist by the name of Bill Currington (Stark, Phyllis). Seven years later he won the Entertainer of the Year and the ACM(Biography.com Editors, Finan, Eileen). Winner these rewards were really meaningful to him after what he has been through(Finan,Eileen). Over the years Luke Bryan has had so many number one hits for all his different albums and songs, that it’s too many to list, but a couple is Drink a Beer and That's My Kind Of Night. Just recently he sing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl 52. Today Bryan helps out three different charities they are St.Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Make A Wish Foundation, and Young Men Christian Association (YMCA)(Biography.com Editors). Bryan’s music career is still growing today even with his busy life that he

He had exposure to several different genres growing up in his St. Louis, MO hometown. He heard country from the whites, rhythm & blues (R&B) from mostly blacks, even Latin music. His family environment set him up well for future success while growing up in a middle class home in the middle of the Great Depression of the 1930s. His parents sun...
Many would argue that country music isn't country anymore; straying too far from the older generation of fiddles, violins and guitars by incorporating a "pop" feel and focusing more on the beat than the content. Pop music is typically viewed as up-beat and differs from the sad, lonesome sounds of country from the past. I would agree that today's country has a very different sound than previous years, however, still incorporates the down-to-earth feel many of us can relate
Throughout the book Johnny reflects the theme of the story in his actions, which is something he is taught from a young age, to respect others, but mainly the elders, he was made fun of by other kids for being “weak”. They thought he was weak because he respected the elders and cared for them instead of going and getting stronger all the time. Because of this he ends up gaining advantages and being wiser himself.
One of the major strong points of The Fifties is the author's ostensible need to include every detail that could have impacted the formation of any aspects that pertain to the developments that shaped the fifties. This is most notable in the characterization of major figures of the time such as Marlon Brando and Elvis Presley. For example, in reference to Brando, Halberstam (1993)

I decided to expand on my Week 5 Post All About That Bass. Our assignment for that week was to analyze Meghan Trainor’s song All About That Bass and to give our opinion on what message we believe the song lyrics and video provided the public with. The second part of our assignment also involved watching “It’s Not About the Nail” and the Dave Barry article that addressed stereotypes about gender and what affect they might have on individuals.
Have you ever had those certain catchy songs that you just can not get out of your head? For me Taylor Swift is always at the top of my playlist. Taylor Swift was born on December 13, 1989 and grew up on a small tree farm. Swift has has a family background of singing in her family. Ever since she started recording her albums. she has written and performed all of her songs. Swift started becoming successful at a young age by performing and writing new songs whenever she got the chance. When Swift was 11 years old, she performed the national anthem at a Philadelphia 76ers NBA game. (“Facts”) The contributions to music demonstrated by the career of Taylor Swift prove beyond a doubt the Country Music Hall of Fame should induct this singer. Swifts worthiness of this award is shown in her awards, charitable contributions, and impact up on the music world and all of her fans.
