Jimmy Hare or just Hare for short, was the fastest runner in all of the town. He was very cocky about his speed. Every time he won a race he acted like he had just won a gold medal. The town was getting very annoyed with Hare. They weren't happy about his boasting. ¨If someone could just beat him, he would quit all of his bragging¨, the people of the town thought. One day, after Hare had just won another race, he was bragging and boasting about how no one could beat him. ¨I am so good that NO ONE can beat me!” said Hare. Out of nowhere the towns slowest runner, Hank Tortoise(Tortoise for short), stepped forward and said, ¨I will race you.¨. Hare just laughed in his face and said, “You! You are the slowest runner in town, you could never beat
me!” Hare said. ” Well we never know till we try.¨ Tortoise said. ¨ Fine, I will race you¨ said Hare. So the whole town set up a track so that they could race. Everyone gathered around to watch what would happen in this race. Some were for sure Hare would win, and others were just hopeful that Hare would fall and hurt something. They lined up at the starting line, Hare as relaxed as can be, Tortoise not really showing that much emotion. The towns people were pretty nervous. One of the older people of the town stood in front of the two racers holding up a horn and counting down. ¨3…...2…....1 GO!¨ shouted the old man holding the horn. Hare took off leaving Tortoise very far behind. Tortoise just jogged along the path, again not showing that much emotion. Some of the towns people just shook their heads, turned around and grabbed their kids who were more than likely playing on the playground near the racetrack, got in their minivans and left the race. Some of the towns people stayed, they just were not hopeful and were ready to hear Hare brag about his win. Hare turned and noticed that Tortoise was very very far behind, so Hare stopped to check his snapchat and Instagram. Hare took a photo and posted it on his Instagram saying how easy this race was. Hare also decided that he would stop and take a nap because his track coach had pushed him pretty hard in practice earlier that day. He was sleeping so hard that he didn't notice that Tortoise had passed him up. Tortoise took his phone out as he passed him and took a picture saying ¨ Don't celebrate too early.¨ Tortoise laughed right in his face but Hare never even noticed. Tortoise continued on down the track getting closer and closer to the finish line. The towns people noticed and started cheering. They started chanting, ¨ Tortoise! Tortoise! Tortoise!¨ The cheering woke Hare up. He yawned and stretched and then noticed how close Tortoise was to the finish line. He got up and sprinted as hard as he could but just couldn't make it in time. Tortoise crossed the finish line with a smile. He turned to Hare and said, ¨ Slow and steady always wins the race.¨

In the story “Inez” by Merle Hodge, Mr. James appears each collection day to fearlessly collect rent, or evict if needed, however, he demonstrates no such courage towards his wife as he does with his tenants . Though he sees an injustice in his wife’s demands, he would rather face an angry tenant and hungry children than fail in his duty toward her. The courage he demonstrates while collecting rent is not evident when facing his wife. Mr. James is a hypocrite for enabling his wife’s greed even though morally he knows it is wrong. A similar moral conflict is evident through the behavior and actions of some politicians seeking election. Politicians run for election, willing to say anything to get elected, though morally they may not agree with what they say.

Achilles is to run a race against the tortoise and the tortoise is given a head start due to the idea that the tortoise is weaker. Zeno argues that Achilles will never be able to reach the tortoise no matter how fast he runs. For Achilles to reach the tortoise he has to run the distance the tortoise has been given at first. As he does so, the tortoise will ha...
It takes a good hour and forty-five minutes drive to get there from my house, and the drive gets a little boring. Chase's truck was full of junk. I found a roll of fishing line, and we got this bright idea to tie a piece of plastic to the end of the fishing line. I rolled down the window and threw out the plastic piece while holding on to the roll of fishing line. I let out more and more line, until the end was way out there. People would drive up to it and be confused, because they wouldn't see the fishing line, just the plastic piece.

It was about one-thirty in the morning in the town of Homestead Michigan. The almost florescent light of the moon bouncing off the fresh puddles that covered the ground. The grass and trees were covered in a thin layer of water causing every little beam of light to reflect back up. Anyone who may have been outside at this time would have without double, smelled the mix of fresh dirt and night crawlers. As the moonlight started to fade away through the cloud cover, three buses made there way through the streets and parked in front of HHS, the local high school.

He doesn’t give in to the hares mean ways. Many life lessons can be learned in this book, for both children and adults. One lesson is “slow and steady wins the race,” (Stevens 27) which is a great lesson for children! Doesn’t matter how fast you do something if it gets done, teaching them that they don’t have to be the first one done at everything, since sometimes it is better to take your time. Another lesson, is to never give up. Although the hare sprinted at the start of the race and was winning, the tortoise never gave up. He just kept going, at his own pace and won the race! These are small lessons that children will remember as they are growing up and can relate to the real world around
