Who is truly is the man know as Jesus Christ? I have pondered across the question for the majority of my life, receiving varying answers from family, friends, teachers, and acquaintances. Christianity has influenced my life in ways that I am not aware of, but I believe I understand why people hold their importance within a religion and figures like Jesus Christ. Although I am not religious, I am well aware of the impact Jesus has on the past, present, and future, which is remarkable in many ways. How can people have such a close connection to a person they do not know, or completely understand? This question is a backdrop for many people who are curious to know more about Jesus Christ, and why he of all people within history was considered
The pre-existence and eternality are major themes that are embedded within Christology, and follow the life of Jesus Christ plus his teachings. Christology speaks on the life of Jesus in a profound manner describing in-depth situations of humanity, temptation, sins, his death/resurrection, and much more that hold prevalence within religious texts like the New Testament. The approach of Christology is used for Christian to understand Jesus Christ’s teachings, which is impactful for Christians that hold their faith within Jesus. Christology specifically touches on having compassion, being patient, and understanding how to put someone else before you. For example, Jesus shows compassion in Luke 9:10-17, Jesus feeds a group of five thousand men with the help of his twelve disciples. With five loaves of bread and two fish, the food was not nearly enough to feed his followers, but Jesus performed a miracle and was able to feed 5,000 men, and had twelve baskets full of pieces of food that was leftover. This passage in the Gospels of Luke show the incredible work of Jesus Christ, and an act that would be considered miracle perhaps by someone God-like. Christians firmly believe that Jesus Christ is the begotten son of the God, because of his divine being, and have descendent from the Holy Spirit. This is impactful for the religion of Christianity because it dives into the understanding of the four values of forgiveness, faith, humility, and thankfulness, which is shared throughout the Gospel of Luke. Throughout Jesus Christ’s life, he went around spreading his messages of being faith orientated and teaching the importance of patience to his followers with the help of his twelve disciples. Jesus Christ used the Kingdom of God to help people with all issues; which is why people consider Christ to have perform miracles on the unfortunate. Jesus shared his compassion with plenty of people, because he was the embodiment of knowing that God’s compassion helps everyone if they allow his compassion and leadership guide the lost in the right direction. Jesus is an ideal human making sacrifices for the greater good, and using salvation in order to put his teachings of forgiveness, faith, humility, and thankfulness before anything else. Ultimately, this led to Jesus Christ’s death and resurrection, which is very influential in Christianity. For example, the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is referred to as Good Friday and Easter Sunday to represent the life/death of Jesus Christ.
