Jennifer Lopez also known as J-Lo, La Lopez, and La Guitarra “is part of a generation of multi-talented Hispanic American actors who broke racial barriers in Hollywood,” as stated on Biography in Context. Lopez born and raised in the Bronx, New York where she was around lots of talented people who she would soon learn to be like them. Before she became famous she won a national competition and earned a spot where she would be able to dance on the TV show In Living Color. (Biography.com) Her career did not quite state there and it wasn’t until she had the opportunity to be the lead star in the movie Selena. Having talents including cosmetology, Lopez decided that acting, singing, and dancing was the ideal career for a lady full of confidence

Before 1995, Selena was very common in the Latino community and soon after her murder in the spring and the grief of her fans, the white American community soon realized what a talented person she was.
