Jeffrey Dahmer
Jeffrey Dahmer was born on May 21, 1960 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He was the first of two children born. His parents were Lionel and Joyce Dahmer. His parents didn’t have any notable mental history. He was said to have lived a normal childhood. He was never abused. When he was six years old his family moved to Doylestown, Ohio. His shyness disabled him from making friends at his new school. Later that year his brother was born. That is where thing seemed to change for Jeffrey. One of his teachers said he was feeling neglected. Most of the attention had to go to his new brother because they had to care for him more. That same year he had a hernia. He began to withdraw from social interactions after the surgery. He showed little interest in hobbies and

social interaction.
He began experimenting with animals and collected road kill. Jeffery had pleasure when dissecting animals. He once kept the remains of a dissection he did for school. At the age of 13 he began drinking. He began to have a noticeable addiction to drinking. It got so bad that his classmates considered him an alcoholic. At the age of 18 his parents got a divorce. This is the year when he had a fantasy about picking up a hitchhiker and killing him. This fantasy soon became a reality for Jeffrey Dahmer. Jeffrey killed Steven Hicks (his first victim) in 1978. Once it happened the first time he felt like he had control. He was obsessed with control because he didn’t have any control as a child or young adult. After high school he enrolled in Ohio State University, but dropped out because of his drinking problem. After dropping out of college he enrolled in the army. He was hoping to become a military policeman but became a medical specialist instead. Jeffrey was discharged because of him
alcoholic problem. Jeffrey Dahmer had different symptoms psychical, and psychological. His psychical symptom would have to be that he abused alcohol at an early age. Since he started drinking at an early age his problem got worse at a faster rate. By the time he was 18 he had been drinking for five years. Alcohol affected his life dramatically. He could’ve graduated college and got a degree or he could’ve been successful in the army if only he didn’t start drinking alcohol. Who knows what he could’ve accomplished. The psychological symptom was that his parents got a divorce and he was neglected as a child. As soon as Lionel and Joyce had their second child, they had to spend a little less time with Jeffrey and spend a little more time with their new baby. This affected Jeffrey a lot. He became withdrawn. And after they got a divorce he just went crazy. Jeffrey Dahmer was known to be crazy. He had many different fantasies that led to his murders. I think he should be diagnosed with antisocial and OCD. I think he is antisocial because he committed so many disturbing crimes and he found pleasure in it. He became obsessed with violence when he was 14 years old and never stopped since. I think he was OCD because during his interview all he talked about was how he felt like he had control after he killed someone. He was obsesses with control. Ever since he was little he was deprived of having control and when he grew up he went crazy. During his trial psychologists said the Dahmer was just insane. But the fact that he regretted what he did left many questions.
Dahmer, for example, essentially wanted others to be submissive to him; this served a basis for having his victims rendered unconscious before he did the truly disturbing aspects of his actions. He also craved the everlasting companionship that having corpses around could satisfy well enough because he also did not want them to leave, either. Suppressing his true feelings also played a major role in the attacks. He refused to share anything, so dark fantasies grew heavier in his mind and eventually led to 17 deaths. Finally, death fascinated him, as well as control, from a young age, which led to him killing and dissolving animals in acid. Simply put, Jeffrey Dahmer had predominantly selfish, compulsion-driven reasons for doing his crimes. In contrast, Grendel was only acrid that he did not have the comitatus that the Danes had. He also hated the songs about God that the people in Herot sang due to God exiling him. While Dahmer obsessed over the concept of death itself, Grendel was more obsessed with the act of killing, even getting giddy over seeing the sleeping warriors in the mead hall. As can be seen, Grendel and Dahmer had wildly different motives for committing their
Dahmer was a pretty normal, but very lonely kid. His loneliness followed him throughout the course of his life. Never having an intimate friendship or relationship, along with being consumed with confusion over his own sexuality eventually led him to become the household name he is today. From 1978 to 1991, Dahmer murdered 17 boys and men. Not only is he considered a murderer, but he committed (on several occasions) rape and dismemberment. After his later murders, he was found guilty of necrophilia, cannibalism, and permanent preservation of body parts. He is arguably the most well known, gruesome, and intriguing criminal in American history.
Trying to help his son, Lionel assisted Jeffrey get into the University of Ohio. But it was already too lateJeff Dahmer made his first killing at age 17, when he picked up a hitchhiker , brought him home, murdered him, and scattered the bone fragments in the woods behind the Dahmer home.
...nd Dahmer”, Jeff Dahmer would go to school noticeably under the influence, yet somehow go by “unnoticed”. If the teachers were aware of Dahmer’s state, they never took any form of action to discipline him, question him, or be worried with his condition at all. Not once throughout the entirety of the graphic novel does a teacher, student, or parent seem remotely concerned with Dahmer’s well-being. Dahmer fought off the urge to kill many times and did it with the help of no one and nothing other than his own twisted mind, so there is reason to believe any type of assistance from an adult could have been detrimental in the process of Dahmer overcoming his violent urges. Unlike Benjie, Dahmer had no one to look up to and admire. Benjie was eventually able to appreciate and respect Butler Craig as a man who cared enough about him to put Benjie’s life above his own.
Jeffrey Lincoln Dahmer also known as The Milwaukee Cannibal and The Milwaukee Monster was born May 21st, 1960 to his parents Joyce Annette and Lionel Herbert Dahmer. When Dahmer was six years old he had minor hernia surgery that afterwards changes in his behavior were reported. He went from a happy young boy to increasingly insecure and a loss in self-confidence, these changes seemed to coincide with the birth of his younger brother David Dahmer who was born seven years after him. At age eight Jeffrey and his family moved to Bath Ohio due to his father’s career as an analytical chemist. The move seemed to deepen his already increasing odd behavior and seclusion from society. By age fourteen he started to have impulsions to murder and perform necrophilia, these impulsions were amplified again when his parents ’marriage fell apart and they divorced in 1977.
Jeffrey then destroyed the body parts, he done this by crushing the bones with a hammer and bleaching his skull (this would then become a regular pattern for the discarded of future victims). Dahmer continued to lure victims into is apartment by offering them money for sex or nude photographs (Stubel,2007). He would then drug his victims, engage in sexual intercourse then kill them by strangulation. Dahmer’s fantasies then progressed into necrosadistic behaviour by 1988 as he would kill his victims then participate in necrophilia sex. He would then mutilate their corpses, Dahmer would also save the remains of his victim’s body parts as souvenirs such as save genitals of victims, scalps and skulls (Purcell and Arrigo, (2006). Collecting these items allowed to him masturbate up to the point of orgasm and relive the paraphilia experience Dahmer reported. Dahmer also engaged in cannibalism as as in his words a way remembering the victim, it was also reported that this was sexually arousing to Dahmer. Over a period of 13 years Jeffrey killed 17 young males all with a similar organised pattern, the case of Jeffrey Dahmer will be assed below aiming to establish reasons for why he committed such extreme
Lionel and Joyce Dahmer gave birth to their first born, Jeffrey Dahmer, on May 21, 1960 in Milwaukee. Despite Joyce experiencing a difficult pregnancy, Dahmer was a healthy child who was wanted and adored by both his parents. However, his mother did start to become distant to him as she refused to breast feed him and started demonstrating unstable behavior along with substance abuse. Meanwhile, his father was pursuing his doctoral for chemistry in Iowa which limited the time Lionel had with his family. At age five, Dahmer’s little brother was born and that was when the feeling of neglect set in him. For the first time, the little attention provided from his parents had to be shared with his brother David. Dahmer began displaying extreme shyness but also severe tantrums. During the ages of six and seven, Dahmer “was regarded by other children as odd and bizarre (Martens, 2005).” Even though he did not show any interest in developing genuine social relations, Dahmer did demonstrate a fascination with bug and animal dissections. When Dahmer was six he had “undergone hernia surgery, when he woke up from the anesthesia he was worried someone could have cut his genitals, the pain lasted for one week and after a long recovery period his parents remember he turned to be very loner (Giannetakis, n.d.).” It is believed that at age eight Dahmer had been sexually abused by a boy in his neighborhood (Hickey, 2013). If this event did occur, it could explain why he developed destructive sexual fantasies at the young age of twelve. Despite him being aloof, it has been reported that he would seek attention by faking epileptic seizures at school and local shops. By his adolescent years, he developed compulsive masturbation which would eventually lead to legal trouble (Silva, 2002). At the age of fourteen, Dahmer turned to alcohol abuse in order to overcome his feeling of despair and compulsive thoughts of sexual violent acts.
Jeffrey Dahmer, also known as The Milwaukee Monster, was one of those cases where most people would call him a “Sick Bastard” put him away and throw away the key. He was a less than ordinary person who did atrocious things to others, but I think that in this case the quiet ones are definitely the ones that need to be watched. My initial reaction to Dahmer was that he seemed like that stereotypical kid that no one would have ever thought he would become a serial killer, and I would have to agree with them because I thought he was too small to do the things that he did. He seemed like he was the quiet boy next door who played online video games all day and never left his house, but all types of people are serial killers. Dahmer was portrayed as a quiet man who kept to himself, he didn’t possess any charisma and he wasn’t attractive; he was just an average, uninteresting person that no one paid any attention to.
Jeffrey Dahmer was a serial killer active between 1978 and 1991, during which time he murdered 17 young men. His first crime took place when he was 18 and living with his family in Ohio. Just weeks after graduating high school, he picked up a hitchhiker and took him back to his parents’ house. When the man attempted to leave, Dahmer struck him in the head with a barbell and killed him. This first victim was dismembered and buried in the nearby woods. As Dahmer was driving with the body parts in black garbage bags in his backseat, he was pulled over for crossing the centerline. As the officer wrote the ticket, he asked what was in the bags. Dahmer said he was taking garbage to the dump, and the officer allowed him to go on his way (McGregor, 2005). It would be the first of many missed opportunities by law enforcement to stop Dahmer’s impending murder spree.
This left his mother to feel lonely and have a constant need for Lionel’s attention when he was home. This left Jeffery to be alone and neglected from his parents. When Jeffery’s father wasn’t home, his mother was reportedly taking pills and eventually became addicted to the same pills. Jeffery’s mother had also tried to commit suicide at one point while he was in the home. As time moved on Jeffery began to do many odd things when he got older. One of which being he would collect animal carcasses on his way home from school. He would then take them home and mutilate the skeletons and sometimes even bleach the bones, in his backyard. Dahmer’s dad claims that Jeffery was “oddly thrilled” with the sound of bones breaking, but his father said he thought he was scientifically curious. In 1966, the family moved to Ohio after the mother found out she was pregnant with his younger brother. A couple of years after moving, the family spiraled out and his parents got a divorce. Joyce Dahmer got custody of the younger brother and since Jeffery was 18 at the time, his parents didn’t try to take custody of him (biography.com). Instead, his mom moved out of the family home and left Jeffery there to be alone. Soon after his mother leaving is when he committed his first of many murders to
During Dahmer’s psychiatric evaluation, Dr. Wahlstrom concluded, “Jeffrey was suffering from a mental illness never cured for” (FBI 1992). This leads me to perceive that Dahmer must have been displaying psychotic traits that went unnoticed and undocumented during his early lifetime. I can only speculate that this uncured mental illness lead Dahmer to develop and refine his inability to empathize with society; which in turn, lead him to engage in cruelty without mentally comprehending the victim’s suffering. Although the causes for psychopathy are unclear, some suggest that psychogenic aspects can outline abnormalities which may be present in psychopaths (Schmalleger 2014). When looking at Dahmer’s distant relationship with his parents early on in his childhood, I became conscious of the fact the lack of affection from his parents which may have lead him to develop twisted views on how one should display affection to others, thus prompting him to show psychotic behavior later on in life (The profile of Jeffrey Dahmer 1996). Even though the letter of the law fails to describe Dahmer and even if he was not fit to stand trial, I believe the court would have declared him fit for trial due to the brutality of the
Jeffrey Dahmer’s last crime occurred over twenty years ago, but his name will forever be known. Jeffrey Dahmer started killing for the first time right after he graduated from Revere High School in 1978. Eighteen year old Steven Marks Hicks was hitchhiking to a concert close by Chippewa Lake Park in Wisconsin. His parents knew he was a night-owl, so when they never received a call from Hicks, they assumed he was fine and did not call because he simply forgot. “After killing Steven, he dismembered the body with a carving knife.
Like Gacy, Dahmer had a previous record, which led to “an arrest in October 1981 for disorderly conduct.” However; unlike Gacy, Dahmer’s Father cared for his son enough to send him “to live with his grandmother in Wisconsin, but the [problems with alcohol persisted].”
Descriptions of him as a child indicate he had a normal childhood and was energetic and happy. At age six Dahmer’s brother David was born and at age eight the Dahmer family moved from Milwaukee to Bath, Ohio. Reports indicate Jeffrey Dahmer was sexually assaulted after moving to Ohio by a neighborhood boy (citation). By this time, Dahmer was inhibited and withdrawn, he showed a lack of interest in hobbies and social interaction between the ages of 10 and 15-years old. He began to drink excessively in high school and his interests converted to dead animals collecting their bones and skeletons (Biography, 2017). Jeffrey Dahmer presented abnormal behavior throughout his high school years and his alcoholism added to his negative behavior
Jeffrey Dahmer is an American serial killer who was obsessed with the idea of death and killed adult males. Some people say that he grew up with a part of him missing (Jenephyr) . Dahmer was born on May 21, 1960 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin and his killings occurred in Bath, Ohio and Milwaukee, Wisconsin (Jenephyr). “He had difficulty making friends and was a loner who was fascinated with death, bodies, flesh, and taxidermy. He had a collection of roadkill and insects preserved in chemicals. Dahmer was also fond of impaling the heads of animals on stakes and mounting the bodies on trees behind his house” (Jenephyr). Dahmer had trouble making friends and was shy around peers, especially females (Jenephyr). He would even seek attention by faking seizures and other bad behavior (Jenephyr).
