A memoir by Jaycee Dugard, A Stolen Life tells details exactly how she was treated for 18 years of her life and how she was abducted and sexually abused. In 1991 Dugard was kidnapped by Philip Garrido and wasn't found until 18 years later in 2009. She got to reconnect with her mom and introduce her mom to her two kids, Angel and Scarlet. Seeing her family was a very special and comforting moment for her. At this exciting moment, she didn't have to think about her recovery. She later had an interview. Journalist Marisol Bello stated, “The blond, gap-toothed 11-year-old girl who disappeared 18 years ago is not the same person her family faces today”(Bello). This is very difficult for her mom to see since the last time she saw Jaycee was 18 years ago when Jaycee was only 11 years old. Now Jaycee is a mother of two and acts very differently due to everything she’s gone through. This time can be very difficult for Jaycee because she wants to focus on recovering from everything, but she also wants to take care of her two kids and help them recover too since they're still young. Jaycee and her daughters went to therapy all together, this way Jaycee could recover herself and be there with her kids as they recovered too. They found that they loved going to horse therapy. Jaycee has always loved animals, considering she had many pets when she lived in Philips's backyard, like dogs, cats, and birds. But these horses at therapy, she fell in love with.
