The allure and glamor of old Hollywood have captured many including myself. Given the opportunity to spend a whole year with anyone I’d pick James Dean. James Dean was born February 8th, 1931 in Marion, Indiana. He was an actor and considered a cultural icon for teenage disillusionment and social outcasts. Although he was only in three big name films, all three of them he was awarded for and he was the first actor to receive an Academy Award posthumously. James had a love for art, cars, and life and I think a year with him would be exciting, to say the least. If I spent a whole year with James Dean I’d want to ask about conspiracy theories surrounding his life (I personally believe he didn’t die in the car crash but, physically deformed
Richard Nixon was in one of the most controversial issues that the United States has ever seen. The Watergate Scandal is now well known throughout history today. This issue led to Nixon resigning only 2 years in his 2nd term. Did President Nixon make the right decisions? Can anyone really trust the government after a situation like this? Some Historians believe that this changed the course of history, and that we can never truly trust the government again. While others believe that Nixon didn’t make the right decisions; however, this should not change the way the people look at our government. The government and the people need to keep a strong trust.

Imagine, it’s the seventeenth of August, the year is 1977. You are drinking your morning coffee and listening to the radio, which happens to be a song by the King of Rock and Roll. As you reach for the daily newspaper and read the top headline. You mutter the words, “Elvis Presley dies and the age of Rock is over.” This cannot be real, Elvis Presley cannot be dead. Nobody wanted to believe that the death of Elvis was real, which concluded in the conspiracy theory of Elvis faking his death. Elvis was not dead, in fact, he was very much alive.
White collar crime is a term created by Edwin Sutherland in 1939 that refers to crimes committed by people of higher social status, companies, and the government according to the book “White-Collar Crime in a Nutshell” by Ellen Podgor and Jerold Israel. White collar crimes are usually non-violent crimes committed in order to have a financial-gain (Podgor and Israel 3). A very well known white collar crime that has even been taught in many history classes is the Watergate scandal. This is a white collar crime that was committed by government authorities. Watergate was a crime that shocked the nation.
Nineteen Eighty-Four, by George Orwell, is a superb novel with outstanding themes. One of the most prominent themes found in this novel is psychological manipulation. Citizens in this society are subject to ever present signs declaring “BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU” (Orwell 1). Along with psychological manipulation, physical control takes place. The Party not only controls what people in Oceania think, but what they do as well. Technology is another important theme. Without the constant telescreens, microphones, and computers, the Party would be all but powerless. Big Brother is the main figure of the Party. The main symbol that drives these themes is the telescreens. It is representative of the party always watching and controlling everyone at all times.
During the year of 1692, the small town of Salem seems to have been in a state of panic and confusion. The book Witchcraft at Salem, by Chadwick Hansen, is about the witchcraft conspiracies the town has experienced. Hansen goes on to explore the truthfulness of the "possessed" young girls. The reason why Hansen wrote the book is to try to set straight the record of the witchcraft phenomena at Salem, Massachusetts, in the year 1692, about which much has been written and much misunderstood. Hansen has a very respectable education. He graduated and obtained a Bachelors degree from the much respected Yale University. He went on to continue his education and obtained a Ph.D. from the University of Minnesota. Hansen has had many teaching jobs throughout his life. From 1955-60 Hansen was an assistant professor at Pennsylvania State University. From 1965-70 he was a Professor of English and American studies at the University of Minnesota. His most accomplished teaching job was when he was a professor and Director of American Civilization at the University of Iowa. To help with his teaching he was in many history groups. He was a member of the Modern Language Association, American Studies Association, and American Historical Association. Hansen has written numerous books including, The American Renaissance: The History and Literature of an Era, and Modern Fiction: Form and Idea in the Contemporary Novel and Short Story. Hansen has many qualifications to write a historical piece during the American Revolution time period.
Political leaders of the United States were, at one time, thought of as crucial members of our society. Ideally, their main goal was to represent and satisfy the needs of the American people. Unfortunately, over the last fifty years, our trust in our administrative representatives has drastically declined. Beginning with the great conspiracy theory that President John F. Kennedy’s assassination in 1963 was actually planned by political leaders, America had, for the first time in history, begun to question its faith in its very own government. Consequently, the American people became extremely hesitant when it came to electing officials into office. Despite his loss to JFK in the 1960 presidential election, in 1968, Richard M. Nixon was elected as the thirty-seventh president of the United States. He was praised by many for his comeback after previously losing an election and seemed to be an admirable man. While in office, Nixon made many achievements and followed through with all of his promises made during his campaign. For the first time in what seemed like forever, the American people had finally elected a leader who seemed unquestionably trustworthy – or so they thought. Unfortunately, shortly after Nixon was elected to his second term of presidency in 1972, the Watergate Scandal changed America forever by creating a sense of mistrust toward the government for the American people because of The Nixon Administration’s actions.
The Central Intelligence Agency is an agency of federal government that gathers information on foreign military, economic and political activities. It also conducts covert political operations against governments to promote national security. The Central Intelligence Agency became incredibly active during the Cold War, which was mostly an intelligence war. During the years 1961 and 1963, the Central Intelligence Agency took many actions in attempt to fight communism and resolve the Cold War under Kennedy’s presidency.
Four of these men, that were arrested on the morning of June 17, 1972, came
I presume we probably are in grave threat and possibly by something different every day, and for people is worth knowing the unknown, because people need a decent deal to make it through any conspiracy, these days our crooked sad government will be the main people to survive an bad conspiracy, how does that sit well with America. In my opinion, jesse is doing what many people fear doing of uncovering the secrets and lies of the government. Jesse Ventura is completely exact in his expressions of warning before it is very late. He has uncovered one of the greatest government conspiracies ever. Not only I trust it is valid, as well as time and research back it up. People may think Jesse Ventura is crazy, but imagine that he is one of few that
The Cold War lasted 46 years and had those apart of both Democratic and Communist states at their feet. Paranoia spread throughout the nations and in the United States they introduced various programs that would allow them to still go on if the Soviet Union had infiltrated them. One of those programs being the APRANET. The invention was meant to help government agencies still be able to communicate with one another if the USSR had taken over their telephones. Little did anyone know that the APRANET would blossom into what we now know has the internet. Today, the internet is not just exclusively used for communication between one another. It has taken over many of our lives and helps us complete many of our day to day aspects, such as buying
Since the beginning of settled civilizations, people have had more mutual sharings than ever before. By the same token, there have been some conspiracy theories that are usually against the culturally accepted beliefs of religions, science and society. A conspiracy theory can be described so differently. However, as in his text, Marshall Brain explicates, a conspiracy is generally defined as a theory seeking to explain a disputed case or matter as a plot by a secret group or alliance rather than an individual or isolated act (Brain). Especially, after the new media has become quite popular, more and more conspiracies are theorized every single day, which aim to catch society’s attention via such media tools as the internet, journals and newspapers. Thus, people who theorize those conspiracies tend to use such objects as spiritual and mysterious ones in order to interest people. To illustrate, many examples can be given. For instance, many people have claimed that they were abducted by aliens, although they could show no evidences. Here, a citation from Blackmore could facilitate to understand the circumstance better. She states that people occasionally claim that they have been abducted from public places by aliens, in this case that may provide them with witnesses and affirmations but no evidence could be shown so far (Blackmore). As it is well known, only a small number of people believe such alien abductions, however, rating of this kind of news is quite high on media, because humankind has been wondering if there are extraterrestrial creatures out of the earth. Another example can be conspiracy theories which are about the origins of religions such as the rejection of Jesus Christ. There are some people who pay attention to...
