2. What steps did Jack Moore (the CIO for Heartland Healthcare System) bypass with his oversight of the IT project? Jack Moore's action in advancing Heartland's IT department was very careless and lacked cautions. Jack negligence and Richard Smith (CEO) failure to get involved has genuinely put Heartland Healthcare system in a potential financial dilemma. Let begin with all the step that Jack chose to ignore. Healthcare IT is rapidly advancing, and no one person is capable of mastering all the area of Information technology. Jack failures to engage others is what causes heartland to experience such financial losses and put the organization tech department behind the eight ball. Jack also has decided not to involve current staff member of Heartland
The purpose of this report is to summarize the findings of an interview with Rusty Metcalfe, Chief Information Officer of Fundamental Administrative Services, LLC, and analyze the competitive and strategic positioning of the firm within the long-term, post-acute senior care industry. I interviewed Mr. Metcalfe on Wednesday November 15, 2016 and covered a broad array of topics including the department’s history and structure, risks and opportunities, strategic alignment and near and long-term goals.
According to Milton Berle, “If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door,” (Berle). As a college student, I agree with Berle, we can help create opportunity for ourselves and others. Recently, I finished the book “The Other Wes Moore” based on the lives of two individuals with the same name, Wes Moore, from Baltimore, Maryland. One Wes is sentenced in jail for the rest of his life, and the other Wes is a college graduate, an author, a husband, and a public speaker. The author Wes Moore claims “The chilling truth is that his story could have been mine. The tragedy is that my story could have been his,” (Moore). Once I read this I wanted to seek out an organization that is “building a door” for opportunity for high school students.
The Dread Scott decision exacerbated the debate over slavery by declaring that blacks cannot be citizens and that Congress does not have the power to prohibit slavery in the territories, which further divided the North and the South. The decision also deeply affected politics, and was one of the causes of the Civil War.
...ating their resume every time they learn a new skill or new responsibility is added to their job description. Keeping your resume up to date is also beneficial just in case unique opportunities present themselves. I don’t think that the CEO should be looking for a new job at this time because he was given a time frame to improve the MIS. I believe that the CEO did the right thing by hiring an undercover consultant to help determine how or where the security leak originated. This was a smart move because she immediately identified the numerous breaches in computer security that if not addressed immediately can cost the organization thousands of dollars and penalties. I hope that the CEO brings this information to the board of directors so they can discuss a plan of action to prevent a future security breach and to ensure that the entire staff is HIPPA compliant.
Due to WellStar being a multi facility health system, its organizational design is constantly being reviewed for simpler and more efficient processes. WellStar’s two smallest hospitals, WellStar Paulding and WellStar Douglas, previously under went reconstruction with regards to their hierarchical structure in Patient Access Services (PAS). WellStar Paulding, the smallest facility of the five hospitals, renovated their managerial chain of command in PAS. WellStar Paulding’s patient volume is less than half in comparison to the 4 additional hospitals. As a result, their staff is smaller and only requires minimal supervision. In the past WellStar Administrators requested supervisors for every department, a manager of the entire department, and a director that managed PAS’ management directly and PAS staff indirectly. Recent cuts ...
‘’I’m going to get away with murder. I’m a Kennedy.’’ Michael Skakel thought he had everything under control. For the Moxley Family their next door neighbor turned out to be their worst nightmare. It was up to the jury to decide the fate of the killer, perhaps technology persuaded them one way or the other.
Being in a financial state of duress, it is undoubtedly crucial for a new CIO to have the technical skills and knowledge needed to manage a health care facility. In reference to this point, Halamka had stated, “.I know all the technologies, I program in 12 languages, and I’ve written books on Unix system administration. I’m a doctor, so I understand the clinical domain and the technical requirements” (McFarlan, F. Warren, and Robert D. Austin, pg. 3). Clearly, this exemplifies his qualifications as the newly instated CIO. The technology being used by CareGroup at the time was described as being “antiquated” (McFarlan, F. Warren, and Robert D. Austin, pg.3), and soon, all of the hospitals were running on the Meditech system (McFarlan, F. Warren, and Robert D. Austin, pg.4)....

I would recommend the first alternative which is to improve management. Mr. Walsh wasn't trained and didn't understand management. He could handle the company when it was small. He got lost as the Inner-City paint grew. If Mr. Walsh did some training, then the company probably wouldn't be in such a mess. He did understand how to expand the business and add employees were they are needed but he lacked giving trust to other people.
Charles Martin reviews a controversial court case of the 1930s in regards to the legal system of the South. Originally, Martin wrote the Angelo Herndon Case and Southern Justice as a doctoral dissertation; however, he continued his writings and research to publish his writings into a book. Published by Louisiana State University Press in 1976, The Angelo Herndon Case and Southern Justice depicts the dynamics of the South as the Communists influence increased creating a basis for biracial coalition, which opposes the racial interaction in the South. With use of primary sources and great detail, Martin accurately portrays the inequality within the justice system of Southern state for African Americans and the fear of Communism by reviewing the
However, the organization was having issues a symptom of these issues was that they had a reputation of being too slow in making decisions another symptom was that their profit was less then what executives thought it should be. After he examined their organization as a system, he was able to determine the cause and it was that employees did not pay much attention to the internal processes of the organization. He determined that this was the cause of the company not producing the profit levels that it
On September 23, you received an email indicating that Jan Stevenson of your library has applied for a personal loan of $5,000 and appointed you as her employment contact. You were asked to write a reference letter and to include whether or not you’ll be able to cosign or guarantee the note in any way. This may be a time sensitive, medium priority because your employee receiving this loan is pending your approval. This task can be completed within 1-2 days during the week; however it requires deep thought. Essentially you are writing a character-reference letter and you would want to make sure Jan Stevenson is a person you are comfortable with putting your reputation on the line for. You have the ability to cosign for the loan or simply verify
William Ackman brought about accusations against Herbalife’s marketing model in December 2012 calling it a pyramid scheme (Rojas, 2017). William Ackman pressurized the state and the federal agencies to investigate Herbalife Corporation. The accusations made by William Ackman against Herbalife made the company’s stock values to decline drastically. Herbalife claimed that Ackman’s accusations were misled by his misunderstanding about the company’s business model. William Ackman made a short bet against Herbalife citing that the company’s stock values would decline greatly due to his accusations and findings of the company. Ackman made a great loss on his bet since his accusations and plans were shuttered after the company paid a huge sum of money
