J.K. Rowlingś Story of Resilience Many people believe that J.K. Rowling was a success as soon as Harry Potter was done. This, however, is not true. J.K had many rough points in her life, which she was forced to overcome. J.K Rowling has shown resilience throughout most of her life, she encountered problems in college, got divorced and lost family members, and Harry Potter was rejected many times after completion. J.K. Rowling showed resilience throughout her childhood and in collage. On the website Groiler.com William Touponce wrote, ¨She dreamed of becoming a writer, but her parents convinced her to study french.¨ J.K. Rowling´s parents believed her imagination was useless and would lead to poverty, and ruin her life. J.K. Rowling had swapped her major to English Literature. Her parents didn't learn of this until her graduation day! The speech Fringe Benefits of Failure by J.K. Rowling stated ¨What I feared most for myself was not poverty, but failure.¨ Until graduation J.K. Rowling story wasn't over yet! When J.K rowling went to get Harry poter published she was denied, she was denied many times. Publishers believed her writing was ¨childish¨ and she would fail. The website Itrzone stated ¨She got so many rejections for her 1999 novel that she had made a sculpture out of them.¨ (McCormack). J.K. Rowling didn't want to give up, but at this point it seemed like she might have to. ¨I wasn't going to give up until every single publisher turned me down, but I often feared that would happen.¨ (McCormack). One publisher looked at J.K.´s work with her daughter, the publisher's daughter had read a small portion and begged to read more.
