The American Dream is a phrase that has been thrown around for a better part of the last eighty years, but what does it truly mean? The American Dream was popularized by the author James Truslow Adams in his 1931 book, The Epic of America. It is an idea that if you immigrate to or are born in America you are given the ability to achieve this “dream” that people in other nations don’t have access to. The definition of this “dream” is that America uniquely gives you the opportunity to become what you want to become and be who you want to be, no matter what anyone else says.
