Hi my name is Emily Colton, In my english class we have been talking about if William Shakespeare is still relevant to modern students today. Yes I think it is still relevant to modern students. Shakespeare introduced thousand of words and phrases to the English language and with some new concepts. The characterisation and themes make Shakespeare modern today in many ways. The characters in Shakespeare stands out making Shakespeare relevant to many people. His plays are continued to be performed today not because William is famous but because his characters feel alive to the viewers. Today there are films that have been invented and have made modernised versions of Shakespeare plays. We got to watch the film Romeo and Juliet in english class, it was interesting and hard to watch because of the Shakespeare language but with the modern settings like the actors, costumes, made it easier to watch because you were being engaged of what was going on. The Movie “She's the Man” is based on the play on the “Twelfth Night”. It is a funny, quirky modern day tale that every teenager can relate to. The film “She’s the Man”, inspired by The “Twelfth Night”, shows similar names of characters and plot. The Twelfth nights main theme is love and its also a really funny play/movie. The themes are also shown in the modern movie “She’s the Man”.
