Is A College Education Really Worth It?
Peter Osborn is, strictly spoken on the fact that a college education can further your career but some believe that college just isn't worth it, which stated, “These stories lead some people to conclude that a college education isn't necessary. That all you really need to succeed is grit, grind, and old-fashioned street smarts. That college is just a waste of money”. Therefore throughout today’s society, there has been a comparison of college grads making more money with a college education than a high school grad with no college education. Throughout this research is a comparison of college grads towards high school grads and how they differ from different education levels and affects their careers as well as jobs. It is because they never continued education. Reason for that is it’s becoming a high request for jobs requiring college grads and a higher percentage of job seekers which are only high school grads with no college education. For instance, “young high school graduates, the unemployment rate is disturbingly high: 17.8 percent. Add in those who are underemployed, either because they would like a full-time job, but can only find part-time work, or they are so discouraged that they've given up actively searching, and the share jumps to more than 33 percent” (Patricia Cohen, 6). Besides those who do not further their education have a low chance of getting a job cause in today’s society companies is looking for college grads to bring higher revenue to their company.
