Secondly, Tony Stark focuses more on responsibility of the individual and family while Qiu pays more attention to his responsibility of the nation. As a hero movie, Iron Man emphasizes on hero’s realization of personal values. Tony Stark focuses a lot on achieving his personal value, which is to help the world out as Iron man and maintain the social justice and social order. The moment he achieves his personal value is also the time his dream came to fruition. By the time when he possesses his superpower from his powered armor, he realizes that he should take more responsibility to help and save the people in need single-handedly. More importantly, he realizes that in order to achieve one’s dream, one should first start with himself. “If you want to change the world, start with yourself.” Via the movie, Iron Man, Tony Stark teaches his audience that no matter rich or not, smart or not, super powerful or not, in order to be …show more content…
They are normally not aiming to save the world, but sometimes they did it while achieving their small targets. They take more responsibility upon their shoulders when disaster happens, and they save their families, friends and strangers and ultimately become heroes. More importantly, these heroes all survive in the end. American hero movies emphasize on the theory that if everyone takes more responsibility for social justice, the society will become better. It is not to say that people should just follow the heroes. It is more about people taking responsibility and learning from their heroes. Since those characters in the movies are more true to the audience’s lives, they are easier to resonate. Compared to American hero movies, although heroes in Chinese movies ultimately achieve greatness, they have mostly died in the end. Being a hero is normally associated with tragedy, making people unwilling to become
In “Creating the Myth,” Linda Seger outlines the essential aspects that make up the hero myth, and why movies that follow this outline are generally successful. In her analysis, she begins with the idea that every hero myth revolves around a hero who is called upon to accomplish a feat that nobody else in the story is able to do. The hero’s journey begins with an unlikely person being called upon to serve a purpose greater than themselves. Along their journey, the hero is influenced by several archetypical characters that either help the hero, or try to deter the hero from accomplishing their task. The hero’s journey ends when they have accomplished their task, and in doing so, become a greater person than what they were in the beginning. A film that found tremendous success by following this outline was “Kung Fu Panda.”
Response 2 Many times in western cultures heroes or superheroes are thought to have physical strength as well as supernatural powers in which one uses to fight against evil (Chinese Heroism). This differs from the characteristics of a hero in Chinese culture as many times hero’s are considered average in physical appearance and possess qualities of “morally, culturally or intellectually” (Chinese Heroism). These qualities are also used for helping the good of the family or for China (Chinese Heroism).
The word "hero" is so often used to describe people who overcome great difficulties and rise to the challenge that is set before them without even considering the overwhelming odds they are up against. In our culture, heroes are glorified in literature and in the media in various shapes and forms. However, I believe that many of the greatest heroes in our society never receive the credit that they deserve, much less fame or publicity. I believe that a hero is simply someone who stands up for what he/she believes in. A person does not have to rush into a burning building and save someone's life to be a hero. Someone who is a true friend can be a hero. A hero is someone who makes a difference in the lives of others simply by his/her presence. In Tim O'Brien's novel, The Things They Carried, the true heroes stand out in my mind as those who were true friends and fought for what they believed in. These men and women faced the atrocities of war on a daily basis, as explained by critic David R. Jarraway's essay, "'Excremental Assault' in Tim O'Brien: Trauma and Recovery in Vietnam War Literature" and by Vietnam Veteran Jim Carter. Yet these characters became heroes not by going to drastic measures to do something that would draw attention to themselves, but by being true to their own beliefs and by making a difference to the people around them.
In the genre of western films, the hero plays a key role. Humanity portrays civilization overcoming the hostile country (Miller 66). In many films the American civil war is over, and people have turned their attention to more constructive pursuits. Battling nature to progress America's future, rather than each other. In between this wild country, fraught with danger and corruption lies the role of the hero. A hero is an individual with exceptional skills and through his abilities is able to rid a stricken town of the corrupt elements within. In many cases however, the hero's skills are not enough. His relationship with the community can define how successful his help can be.
Being a hero means to be willing to risk your life for others. Such as, Pat Tillman. Pat Tillman was a fantastic football player and he loved playing it too. Despite that, Pat Tillman turned down a 3.6million dollar contract to the Arizona Cardinals to go fight the war against terrorism. He ended up dieing from friendly fire. All this goes to show how brave Pat Tillman was to risk his life and give up his football career to go fight in Afghanistan to help protect the American people. Likewise, the people that helped evacuate New York City after the
Making the suit is much easier than fighting Mandarin. Iron Man gets more skill by wearing the suit and learning how to use the suit. Iron Man’s greatest fear is the bits of shrapnel in his chest. Iron Man’s Abyss is when his suit is taken over. Iron Man’s revelation is when he develops a serious dependency of alcohol. At the beginning of his journey in the suit he is a bit cocky as well. “You’re not a man, you’re nothing- more than a manic. I’m not afraid of you, no politics here, just good old fashion revenge” (tony stark, google). Iron Man is wiser because he realized that you should never give up. His imbalance is fixed by making the suit and saving his life and the people around him. “I had my- eyes opened. I came to realize that i had more to offer this world than just making thing blow up” (tony stark, google). His injustice is fixed by making the suit. Iron Man’s gift is he gets his suit.
Through reading about these heroes, kids believe that there are good things that happen to good people. These heroes encourage many kids when they’re young, and provide them with right and wrong. For example, many fairy tales and comic stories show kids the kinds of behaviors that need in order to succeed in life, to improve society, and to overcome hard times. They become their example of healthy adult role models who through hard times and many contractions they were able to react positively and overcome hard times. Heroes prove to them that no matter how much suffering and hardships in the world, there are good people, who always do the right thing and provide us with hope in hard times. Heroes do provide courage for us to overcome emotionally, physically, or spiritually
A hero has to go in a journey. He has to struggle throughout the story to grow as a character. They generally triumph at the story´s conclusion. Humans tend to admire the ones that had to suffer to be in the top. We like to associate heroism with someone that surpass many
When asking people about what characteristics they think of when they think of a hero the most common answers would be doing good deeds and not allowing evil to flourish. This is what we have been made to believe. One of the first images that come to mind when the word hero is mentioned is a superhero. An image of Batman or Superman is likely, one who is good natured and conquers evil as it appears. Just doing good deeds or not committing evil sins is not enough. First you would have to distinguish the difference between an evil and a good action. The line between good and evil is so thin that specific attributes and certain actions are constantly being exchanged back and forth. We cannot decide as a society what is good and what is evil. A modern day example would be when the United States made the decision to bomb Japan during World War II. For Americans celebration ensued as it was thought to be a decisive moment of victory. Those who were involved in t...
What makes a hero a hero? In western movies such as The Searchers and Stage Coach, they portray the issue of masculinity and the hero in an exceptional way. In each of these movies the main character is represented with the traditional appearance of masculinity, toughness, and honor. Rarely does the hero smile or only smiles in the face of confrontation. He has courage and is daring, therefore not fearing anything. Most of the time revenge is the motivating force behind the hero’s actions. At first, Django is the helpless slave that is chained and broken, but through the teaching of Dr. King Shultz, Django takes the role of hero very quickly and transforms from a needy slave to a cultured, well-mannered, and brutal bad–ass that soon becomes the real focus of the film. Shultz...

When I think of an American Hero I immediately think of someone who is strong, intelligent, handsome, and daring. Upon closer examination, many different qualities than these become apparent. Courage, honesty, bravery, selflessness, and the will to try are just a few of the overlooked qualities of an American Hero. The definition of heroism changes with the context and time. The Merriam-Webster dictionary defines heroism as "heroic conduct especially as exhibited in fulfilling a high purpose or attaining a noble end; the qualities of a hero". Heroes of the past are not necessarily heroes of present time and vise versa.
Thor: Ragnarok (2017) The movie I chose is Thor: Ragnarok; I am a big marvel fan and especially a huge fan of Thor. I’ve been familiar with Thor since 2011; I have watched all the marvel films to date. It actually wasn’t until I took this class to learn that Thor is part of Norse mythology.
Introduction: Corrosion of iron causes many problems around the world. Many things that made up of iron metal like cars, bridges, ships and houses can be destroyed if the metals have been corroded. There are many ways to make the corrosion happen. Iron will be oxidised when it’s been exposed in the air for a long time and react with oxygen and water to make the iron rust. Higher temperature can speed up the rusting as well as the acidic liquid that presents on the surface of the metal. Acid rain could be one of the sources of the acidic liquid. For acid, the strong acid donates more protons H+ in the reaction so the iron will react with the hydrogen quicker to speed up the corrosion. The rusting forms because iron has been oxidised, so with acids there won’t be a layer of rust on the surface of the iron metal. In this practical, the corrosion that cause by acid will be investigated.
