In many fighting scenes, or scenes leading up to a fight footsteps were always very present. The footsteps of a person would always be heard even if they were swallowed into the blackness of the scene. When characters had shifting footsteps usually they died right after, those with loud confident steps would escape or be the person doing the killing. For example, when Julian and his crew were infiltrating an invaders house/base, The scene was very black. As they moved around the house you saw flashes of hands and faces and only got good focuses when they weren't moving or ambushing from the darkness. When the light suited man was guarding the truck, and he would walks around the vehicle his steps dragged and shifted across the ground while the dark-suited man that took him out had heavy confident steps. The one killed had shifty feet and the one that lived had heavy

Randall Blighton saw a silhouette of an infant in the vans window which now he says was a car seat. He felt that he couldn’t just pass by after he had just dropped off his own children with their mother. When he first arrived by the van he set out flares to make sure that everybody knew that the van was there. He then went to open the drivers side door and found that a woman’s purse was jammed between the accelerator and the firewall, that would explain the continually motion forward. He could see that a figure was lying across the front seat and that the head was tucked into the chest just over the passenger seat. He could see that the figure had on one loafer type on one foot that looked feminine. As he searched to turn on the emergency flashers and was unable to find them, not knowing that they were over head. He felt the floor to see if there was a baby. However, as he felt around he realized that the floor and seats of the van and realized why it was so hard to see through the drivers side window that was splattered with something dark, blood. Nevertheless, he felt it was more important to keep searching to find the baby instead of stopping. He shuddered and didn’t get how there could be so much blood in the van if it hadn’t been hit by another vehicle. Randall then hopped in the drivers seat and moved the van on to the shoulder of 79th where it met sunset highway.

Imperialism is when a mother nation takes over another nation and become its colony for political, social, and economical reasons. Imperialism is a progressive force for both the oppressors (mother country) and the oppressed (colony), majorly occurring during the late 19th and early 20th century. It had more negative effects than positive effects due to its domination to other nations.
Practice what you preach! The Unites States preaches democracy, freedom, liberty and justice by all. Our ancestors fled England to gain these basic rights and establish a land of liberty and justice for all. As I study history, I have come to question whether we, as a country, really live by these principles. By the late 1800s the United States had become a world power with the ability to influence other countries and expand to new lands by using it military and economic powers; America was divided on how to use this power and influence. Expansion or isolation seemed to be the most argued political themes of the early 1900s. Europeans had drawn satisfaction from fulfilling a self-imposed “civilizing” mission to spread Western culture and
The Case of Amontallido In a psychological perspective, the author’s life is linked with the behavior and motivations of characters in the story. The author’s name is Edgar Allan’s Poe who portrayed his self in his writing. The miserable life of Poe can be measured through “The Cask of Amontillado” in which character named “Montressor” showed indifferent feeling towards his victim. After burying Fortunado alive, Montressor felt bad after burying his victim alive but then he attributes the feeling of guilt to the damp catacombs.
Racism has resided within the Dominican Republic for centuries after the defeat of the Haitian Empire. Yet, the profuse racism came from the Presidency of Rafael Trujillo. Rafael Trujillo yearned to withhold the prevalence of white skin-tone in Dominican individuals. Trujillo initiated an anti-Haitian regime as he was determined to whiten his country. To present himself as a white Dominican, Trujillo wore makeup to lighten his appearance, to uphold his standards. Yet, the horrific, defining moment of his presidency was the Parsley Massacre. Trujillo started the massacre in 1937, as he sought to deceive his people by claiming the Haitians were practicing witchety, while claiming they kept a Dominican opponent in hiding. Dominican troops slaughtered
Did you know that you happen to be surrounded by invasive species? These species are animals that come into areas they do not belong in. The articles, “Invaders among Us,” and “Invader Alert,” show this. They harm the environment, cost tons of money in damage and extermination, and they have to be prevented.
Conquest and colonization has always played a role in the history of European powers. Throughout the centuries many different European empires have attempted to make their mark on multiple different continents. Some have found success, while others have failed. One case in particular, in which European nations could not quite find stability, was in North America. Factors such as the American Revolution, U.S. westward expansion, and the Monroe Doctrine pushed European nations out of North America. Afterwards, the late 19th century marked the beginning of New Imperialism. As New Imperialism began, Africa became important to European nations in their “Scramble for Africa”.
Latin America’s history was a blend of war, dominance and most importantly power. This description of the Latin American conquest is what stuck with me from my previous history classes. The stories of how the past was a battle over opportunity and possession, violence and anger, in every class lecture I attended. It was also known that throughout the land area, opportunity became a priority for the rich and most powerful. These levels of privilege and power overcame through historical time starting from the Indian rulers to the European conquerors as well as the men of European descent. They were also carried on through the Catholic Church, the wealthy and the physically skillful and even the gods of religions. Specifically, the Spanish conquered Latin America through the use of inferior weapons, enforced Christianity, and through their shaped strong military traditions that allowed them to out rule the other competitions and capture both empires’ allowing the emperors defeat the Incas and Aztecs. However, in these societies the greatest cause that led to their ultimate execution was the smallpox epidemic. The act of the allowing disease to spread through Latin America came across as acts of cruelty that unfortunately identified the Spanish as evil monsters in Latin history. As you can see, the answer to the question of whether or not the Spanish were evil is not so black and white. This act in history makes me question whether or not the Spanish were actually “evil” when qualities of courage and resolution were shown whenever an armed struggle broke out. Regardless if the Spanish were thought to be evil or not, this epidemic destroyed ...
In response to “The Cask of Amontillado” by Edgar Allen Poe, revenge can get the best of everyone. Like most individuals, I too have found myself once glaring from the sidelines annoyed. It takes a lot to make a calm person like myself resentful, but similar to Montresor, it is possible to become so aggravated that a revengeful plot begins to form.
Imperialism, Nationalism’s economically based counterpart would act as a central motivation for the fighting and clashes of the Great War. Defined as conquering/and or dominating for economic and personal gains, the influential ideals of Imperialism would spawn from various popular ideologies in Europe such as Colonialism and Mercantilism, and root from the Age of Exploration. Imperialism would be considered the father of Industrialism and the economy of Europe. The first genuine signs of true Imperialism can be marked back to events such as the English Expansion and French Expansion into the “untouched” Americas. What drew leaders and philosophers to this concept was the resources and benefits? In exotic and unconquered lands, rich soil and
