Effects of The Invaders
Did you know that you happen to be surrounded by invasive species? These species are animals that come into areas they do not belong in. The articles, “Invaders among Us,” and “Invader Alert,” show this. They harm the environment, cost tons of money in damage and extermination, and they have to be prevented.
First and foremost, these invaders can harm us and the environment. For example, the text, “Invaders among Us,” states, “It has been known to break branches, uproot trees and shrubs, and collapse buildings.” The invader that causes this is the plant Kudzu. It tears apart our environment by spreading and wrapping around objects. In the passage it says, “... the destructive fish harm property and boaters…” (“Invader Alert”). This is the fish species called Asian Carp. These fish jump out of the water when scared and land

on boats.
Furthermore, the invasive species costs a great amount of money.

The text “Invaders among Us” states, “They can cost us millions of dollars in repair and management costs.” The invaders cause damage and the government has to provide the funds to fix it. Millions have been paid for the destruction of the species Asian Carp. In the article, “Invader Alert” it says, “It is estimated Kudzu … costs utility companies $1.5 million a year just to remove it from power lines.” This Kudzu has already costs a lot for that but for the rest of the job is more. The plant twists, making it difficult to take out.
Equally important, these invaders need to be prevented. For instance, “Invaders among Us,” it states, “...managing the spread of these invaders is important.” Keeping the animals secured is key. Also making it so invaders can’t and are not introduced is good. The text “Invader Alert,” says, “Become knowledgeable about problems the pose and how you can help.” Knowing invasive species can help stop them from spreading. Also you can know not to buy or bring non-native

species.
To sum up, the articles show and tell us invaders can be harmful, cost large amounts of money, and need a form of prevention. Kudzu breaks branches, tears trees, and destroy buildings. The Asian Carp harm the boaters and the fishers. Each invader costs millions to deal with. Kudzu costs 1.5 million to rid from power lines. It's important to prevent invaders. Also knowing more about the invaders is crucial. Overall the invasive species show a big problem to the world.
