Internet Security
Security is crucial to any flourishing society such as the one in which we Americans live today. Imagine if there was no law enforcement in New York City. No one except criminals would dare to walk down the streets. People would live in fear every day. No one would work and no one could enjoy nature and the outdoors. We would all barricade ourselves indoors, only daring to venture outside into the dangerous world when we absolutely needed to. Everything would be different.
Thinking of the Internet as a society, or a global community, one can also apply this notion of the importance of security. Imagine if everyone had access to all the files on every individual's and every business's computers. It would be the same as if all stores in a city were open to the public 24 hours, 7 days a week with all merchandise available for free, and all citizens' homes, credit cards, family heirlooms, etc. as well. It would be anarchy, it would be disastrous.
In America today, citizens generally feel safe. We feel safe not only from our neighbors, but also from attacks by foreign countries. We have the most advanced military defense systems, and we've proven ourselves to be a powerhouse in recent years like in the Persian Gulf War. For a while, many of us perhaps even felt like America was invulnerable. On September 11 of this year 2001, we learned otherwise. We learned that America did have security holes. We learned first-hand about the horrors that criminals could bestow to us as a nation. Similarly, throughout the last 20 or so years, the Internet has harnessed a wide variety of criminals committing new kinds of crimes. What's more, everyone is at risk, the rich and the poor, m...

The internet designed for the purpose of sharing information. Never before in history has it been so simple to send information from one place to another. While it was originally designed for storing information within large corporations, the internet today is used as an information highway. Due to this, things like music and movies can be shared very quickly via the internet. Property of one person can be shared quickly and efficiently. While there are many things to be gained from this, unfortunately it puts the manufacturers of this digital information at a disadvantage.

Decades ago standard of living was as compared to today due to lack of internet and internet devices. Today in the world, day by day, as we became more advance in technology, more and more people start using internet and internet devices on a daily basis. We use it for communication, social media, watching television and other. People start using the internet excessively without thinking of the consequence. Internet addiction is rapidly growing and became a problem in our society. People did not recognize that overuse of internet can be harmful to us. Internet addiction affects our daily life by causing physiological, physical and addicted to a social network. However, we can control this problem caused by internet addiction like physiological
With the advancement in technology in a short matter of time it has impacted the world in many ways such as how the world communicates and our life styles. One of the many revolutionary inventions or evolutions is called social networking sites (SNS). Social networking sites such as Facebook, Twitter, and many more, are where people gather in the internet, create a personalized profile about themselves, and interact with people around the world. With the lack of parental supervision between the ages of fourteen to seventeen, which makes one of largest demographics using social networking sites, these teens could be subjected to mature elements. Young teens between the ages of fourteen to seventeen should not be allowed to have a profile on social networking sites because they do not have the capability to make proper logical decisions.
Kershaw provides an example of the negative effect of Internet addiction in the article “Hooked on the Web: Help is on the Way”. Mike is a 34 year old man who addresses his Internet addiction problem and seeks treatment. Before seeking treatment, Mike struggled with alcohol and drug abuse and depression along with Internet addiction. He often spent countless hours using the computer to search news and sports information. He never felt it was a problem because he liked it so much and used it in his everyday life. However, Internet addiction started to impact Mike’s life. He became unemployed and lived with his mother. It also affected his social interaction; he would rather be on the computer than be around other people (Kershaw). Another case where computer addiction is found to be a problem is in some Asian countries. Elizabeth Cooney, in her article “Some People Need Help To Kick Their Internet and Computer Gaming Obsessions” reports that “attention deficit hyperactivity disorder in girls and hostility in boys can predispose children to later Internet addiction, which they estimate affects 4 percent of children in Korea and 15 percent in China.” Furthermore, there have been reports of death due to Internet addiction as well. In Korea, a man died because he did not perform basic survival skills such as eating and sleeping for 50 hours due to his Internet addiction (Cooney). In the article “Computer
The internet as we all know is probably the most useful resource known to man in this day of age. Not only is the internet easy to access its easy to use. Nearly everyone owns a computer and nearly all of which have access to the internet. But isn't that a good thing? Millions of people having the ability to access and share all the information anybody could ever want.
The importance of body image and the idealisation of the ideal body have become more dominant in society today.
When someone says the word “addict,” what is the picture that comes to mind? The most common response would be that the word “addict” refers to someone who abuses alcohol or some other drug. If someone smokes cigarettes they are also considered addicts because the materials inside of them are addictive. Tobacco is the most addictive recreational substance used around the world (Kleinjan, Engels, and DiFranza, 2015). The most addictive material is known as the internet. Millions of people are addicted to some form of the internet. This will almost certainly lead to problems in society and everyday life. Social skills will certainly start to decrease, because of people spending too much time on the internet. Internet
Users are then directly joined to other computer users at their own will for a small connection fee per month. The connection conveniently includes unlimited access to over a million web sites twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. There are many reasons why the Internet is important, these reasons include: The net adapts to damage and error, data travels at 2/3 the speed of light on copper and fiber, the internet provides the same functionality to everyone, the net is the fastest growing technology ever, the net promotes freedom of speech, the net is digital, and can correct errors. Connecting to the Internet cost the taxpayer little or nothing, since each node was independent, and had to handle its own financing and its own technical requirements. . It is faster than cellular phones and faster than fax machines.
My aims are to require my evidence that will show me to understand of broad range of my learning outcomes in my project brief.
Cybercrime is a global issue plaguing the world. The dictionary defines cybercrime as “crime conducted via the Internet or some other computer network”(Merriam-Webster). The definition remains very broad because the word “cyber” is defined as “relating to the culture of computers, information technology, and virtual reality.” Due to the growing number of people gaining access to the internet, rapid development of technology, and the globalization of the world, more of the world population is becoming susceptible to involvement in cybercrime – whether it be as a victim or a criminal. Cybercrime involves different levels of the world on both the victim and criminal side from an individual citizen, to small groups, businesses, and the government, to the countries of the world. There are different groups from law enforcement agencies to the U.S. Secret Service, that are attempting to combat the problem through cooperation and preemptive efforts. If these groups combined with the public to protect themselves and the country from criminals that commit cybercrime, the nation’s network and technology servers would be much safer for technology users. Clearly, cybercrime is a problem because it puts internet users at risk of being taken advantage of or harmed.
Nerdy, geeky males that knows a plethora of things about computers and spend most of their time on the computer, that’s the first kind of person the average individual thinks of being in danger of becoming a computer addict. However it is estimated that internet addiction affects at least 1 in 8 Americans. Internet Addiction Disorder (IAD), internet dependency, and internet compulsions are all the same thing. According The Encyclopedia of Mental Disorders, internet addiction disorder refers to the problematic use of the various aspects of its technology, such as electronic mail (e-mail) and the world wide web. Internet addiction, also known as IAD, covers impulse control problems.
