This is a story about survival. Insurgent is a fictional story written by Veronica Roth and is the second instalment in the Divergent series. The story is written in first person perspective of Trish. The story takes place in a destroyed future, where Chicago is a wasteland. People lived in fear that whatever was outside of the city walls would kill them. The two main protagonists, Trish and Tobias wanted to get revenge on the Erudite for killing Trish’s parents, who were the leaders of the city.
After surviving the horrors of the day, the Erudite intelligent faction controlled the Dauntless to invade the Abnegation selfless compound and kill many of its members (including Trish’s parents). Trish and Tobias, the main characters,

Four's character looked at in depth gave me more of a perspective on him and the actions he makes throughout book. Because we see Four through the eyes of Tris, it means we see her version of him. Although in the final book in the trilogy we will be seeing Four's point of view, which I do think twisted his choices a little because of her mindset in what she was suffering. In Insurgent we discover more about what it means to be Divergent and find out that more and more of the characters tested Divergent and managed to hide it. I thought this was interesting because it draws a comparison between the characters that manage to hide their differences and those who don't, like Tris, who struggled in both books to hide her differences with others and continues to hide it to many of the people she interacts with.Safety, unfortunately, is difficult to find. Though Tris and Four are part of Dauntless, they are known to be Divergents people who exhibit traits from more than one faction. This makes them walking targets because Erudite would want …show more content…
The book starts out with Tris, Tobias and some of her friends on a train leaving the city after they had just stopped the Erudites attack simulation. This happened directly after the events of the first book Divergent in a futuristic Chicago. They were not sure what they would do so they decided to go to Amity, a faction that is outside of the city gates. After they got on the train they found some factionless on the train who took them to their safe house. When they got their they met Tobias’s Mother and learned that the factionless were quite powerful now and that they had a large amount of Divergent living there. After that they leave to go to Candor headquarters. There they are put under truth serum to prove that they were not helping the Erudite. They prove that they are innocent but Tris has to tell everyone that she killed her friend will when he was under simulation. She felt very bad about this and the quilt had been killing her. This then hurt her relationships with Tobias and Christina. She later goes to spy on erudite and is ambushed. The Erudite and Dauntless traitors knocked them out and shot them with dart like things that inserted serum in some of them. She doesn’t die and is able to stab one of their leaders, Eric. After this chaos breaks out and her allies come to her rescue. After that the leader of Candor and a leader of Erudite agreed to have a meeting to talk things over. Some bodyguards came with Candors
I predict that Tris will discover that Four is also a Divergent, and they will start a rebellion together at the end of this book and beginning of the next one. I think that Four is a Divergent because of how he knew quite quickly that Tris was a Divergent. He didn’t have to scrutinize her he discovered it with ease. If he is not Divergent, then he must have known someone who was. “ ‘What?’ I demand. ‘You’re Divergent,’ he replies. I stare at him, fear pulsing through me like
Throughout the novel the characters are put in these situations which force them to obtain information about the people they thought they knew. The center of finding out who everyone is was brought into play through the death of Marie. The story is told by David, only twelve years old, who sees his family an community in a different light for who they truly are under there cover. By doing his own little investigations, often times eavesdropping, David saw through the lies, secures and betrayals to find the truth.
On one side, there is Kathy Nicolo and Sheriff Lester Burdon who want the house from which Kathy was evicted. It previously belonged to Kathy’s father and she is reluctant to relinquish possession of it. Then there is the Behranis, a Persian family who was forced to flee to America in fear of their lives. They want the house because it symbolizes their rise from poverty (they had to leave everything behind and were quite poor when they arrived in the United States) back to affluence which, to this family, will help to restore their family’s dignity, lost when thrust into poverty. The story centers on gaining possession of the house. Unknowingly, all of these characters are doomed to tragedy by their inability to understand each other, hurtling down an explosive collision course.
First of all, in order to have an interesting story you will have to have a tone of voice that contributes equally to the meaning of the story. According to Divergent, “I want to be brave, and selfless, and smart, and kind, and honest.” This quotes supports the idea that Tris can in fact fit into all factions and therefore is divergent. Tris, faces with this conflict of being divergent since it is looked down upon. But, even though she faces this serious situation, she has a strong and powerful mindset throughout the journey.
The book opens up at the office of a professor named Burris. A former student of his, Rogers, and his friend, Steve, arrive at his office. They are disturbed by the current state of life in America and have come to Burris to ask him about the utopia that he had once discussed in class. Rodgers got his inspiration from an article written by a man named Frazier. It turns out Frazier, a friend of Burris’s from graduate school, is also where Burris got his ideas. Burris sends

The Divergent Series is a novel by Veronica Roth that is set in a sort of dystopian future society that in actuality is Chicago that is being used like a type of experiment. You basically get sorted into these groups called factions where you will live out the rest of your days. But if you choose to leave you will become factionless which is the equivalent of homeless presently. You take a test to decide which faction you are best suited for. Once you have chosen you go through an initiation process. If you choose the faction you weren’t born into you can’t contact anyone from your old faction.
Lastly Four (Tobias) completes Tris. Tris doesn't want to feel anything but with Four she
... was usually shown through Tris’s conflicts with herself. At times, Tris doesn’t know how to respond to a situation because if she reacted how she wanted to, some people may see her as a traitor. When foreshadowing was used, Tris was concerned about Al, but if she acted like an Abnegation, the Dauntless would think of her poorly. Then, when the mood was ominous, Tris decided to follow Four, which was more like a Candor because she was curious, even if it could be consequential. Finally, when conflict was used, Tris had trouble when Christina took the flag from her. Tris could either have been a good friend, or told Christina that she came up with the plan, so she should get the flag. Although struggle is not a welcomed feeling, it is a way to overcome obstacles and challenges.
The lust for power is displayed by Jeanine Mathews. She is the leader of Erudite and attempts to eradicate the abnegation and control the Dauntless faction. Power makes her grow more and more hungry for dominance. This led to complete chaos within this utopian setting. Through the struggles of the dauntless faction, many of

There is a test made to show you what faction you are meant for but when Beatrice took the test, her results came back showing she was equally meant for Abnegation, Dauntless, and Erudite. She is what the society call Divergent.
